Multiple explosions are being reported at a south Texas gas pipeline. Authorities say some people are injured.

How the explosions happened isn't immediately clear.

Authorities are working to cordon off the area and put out a fire.

The explosions were reported near McCook, a town near the U.S. Mexico border.

In german, I could say all that in three or four words.

And a bargain too, at only twenty-eight syllables per word.
:-P

McCOOK - A gas line rupture west of the city sent flames shooting across the highway and plumes of black smoke billowing into the sky today, damaging a major access road for oil and gas companies.

A stretch of Farm-to-Market Road 490 between FM 611 and FM 755 remains closed as officials let the gas burn out of the pipeline and assess the damage to the road, which is expected to remain closed at least through the day, Edinburg Fire Chief Shawn Snider said.

One person, working at an adjacent station suffered minor injuries in the explosion. He initially left the scene, but officials were bringing him back to the scene for medical evaluation early Friday afternoon.

At least nobody is in violation of the Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz.

(Cribbed from http://german.about.com/library/blwort_long.htm , I haven’t taken a German course in more than thirty years)

OK - even subtracting for repeated words, it still still comes out just over 130. You got me by over 50....

Two unrelated topics - which I’ll grant seem to be allowed by the rules, (http://www.bulwer-lytton.com/#The%20rules) does dilute the purity of the thought stream. As a snide aside, no Saudi funding for Mexican Nationalists is proven as yet - Narco terrorism, however, is a given.....

Also allowed — the nefarious double dash, a crutch of the cheapest sort if there ever were one.

I DO have to award points for
“weapons of national restoration” (good parallel phrase use)
“cohort of dedicated freedom fighters” (cohort in a rational sense)
and one I missed
“conflagration”(sp tho) - given the topic it was almost a natural & I missed it!

Round one to you. You pick next topic/story, and get the first pass....Just one request - no Star Trek topics, please!

Well, see, every subordinate clause in a sentence can become an adjective, and all adjectives can become precoursers to a noun.

So “The running man”, becomes, “The runningman”.

“the man who ran yesterday” becomes “theyesterdayrunningman.”

Nice shorthand, if you can read it.

Rules seem to say 60 words or less? What fun is that?

And I last watched Star Trek as a kid.

And anyone who can only think of one way to spell a word, has not studied languages.

“beer”

“bier”

Same word.

It was in breaking news initially but apparently rightfully got moved out.

Sounds like a “usual” sort of reason the explosion occured and only minor injury to one.

And that’s a good thing.

;^)
