Before Senator John McCain had a chance of becoming the Republican Partys 2008 Presidential nominee, Minnesotas Governor Tim Pawlenty offered him loyal support and became one of his most vocal campaign volunteers. When the contest seemed to be a horserace between McCain, Romney, and Huckabee, speculations about Tim Pawlentys chances to change addresses quieted, though he continued to travel on behalf of the unpopular McCain. Now, since McCain has all but become the GOPs Presidential nominee, Pawlentys name is coming up again. He showed in a surprisingly tough State of the State speech last week, why he should still be on the short list as a Vice Presidential pick.

I think mixing McVain with a conservative VP, would be like putting Hillary and Jennifer Flowers in the same telephone booth ——
Pawlenty is running global warming ads with some Democrat (I heard the radio ad today.).
I think there are Pawlenty of reasons to go else where.
In the end our first priority has to be to keep RED States RED.
Our second objective should be to see if we can flip one of the BIG BATTLEGROUND BLUE STATE.
Michigan and PA, they have gradually gotten BLUER, but I believe we still have a good chance in those states if a Native Son can be found who locals like.
IDEAL PUB VP CANDIDATE:
Solid YOUNG Conservative, who the Nation can view as PRESIDENT in case Mac’s health doesn’t hold up.
This individual must be Conservative enough (right amount of mean streak) to be liked by Radioheads.
He must have a SOLID record on Social issues if we have *any* hope to inspire the base in deep south and bring Evangelicals to polls.
If he is from one of those BIG Battle Ground States, then we are in business.
People in South will NOT relate to Pawlenty and to me that’s a BAD IDEA.
He's a member of the ecotard Warmist cult.
Hugh Hewitt has been singing his praises as a VP pick from day one. He says Pawlenty puts traditionally blue Minnesota in play.
Why not the Governess of Alaska?
I've heard the ads on the radio yesterday and today. He does it together with Arizona democrat governor Janet Napolitano (puke).
I just heard a “public service” spot that the Governor did with the Dem. Governor of Arizona advocating immediate action to limit reduce CO2 emissions and prevent global warming....Just what McCain needs, a northern liberal to balance out a western liberal.
He's a down home kind-of guy who is young.
For most conservatives, his negative is he's a believer in climate change and mitigating its effects. He's trying to do so through market influence for what its worth.
Pawlenty is a punk. He started out OK but is looking more like a mini-Schwartzenegger every day. He’s clearly compromising his conservative views and paving the way for the rest of his political career.
McCain would be a complete idiot to consider a no-name like Pawlenty. He needs a big gun if he’s to have any chance of success.
Militant
There is no one who would not be drawn into the slime with "Juan" - there is no one who can make me vote for a McCain/"Anybody" Ticket.
I’m having trouble coming up with a good veep pick.
Pawlenty would be a “blah” pick, exciting almost no one ... although I suppose he might put Minnesota in play.
My two guys at the moment are Rob Portman (former OMB director and Congressional leader) ... bright, telegenic, and conservative, and from Ohio ... and Governor Sanford of SC, who would excite conservatives, and would shore up the Southern base ... although if McCain can’t win the South without his veep, he’s in deep trouble.
As I say, no perfect veep has yet appeared on my mental screen.
I don’t think Jennifer leans that way, FRiend. ;-P
“Pawlenty would be a blah pick, exciting almost no one ... although I suppose he might put Minnesota in play.”
Not sure if he could put it in play or not. For Minnesota, Pawlenty has been a pretty good governor. I would say he falls more in line with conservative values than not. His constituents are moderates and I’ve noticed he’s lurched more to the middle in the last couple years and the global warming stuff is just getting tiresome.
Romney carried Minnesota 41-22 over McCain and that was with Pawlenty’s support as well as Sen. Coleman’s, if that means anything.
How about John Boehner from Ohio? We desperately need to win that State, and Boehner is relatively young and very conservative, and when I've heard him talk, sounds like he could deliver the message.
Not much. He's giving away the idiotic premise and fighting for the scraps.
