I vowed years ago that I will never be a member of AARP. They (not the members in general, but the people who run it) are a bunch of leftist lying scumbags (I know, that’s redundant).

With ties to Soros, AARP has made a hard turn to the left. They have an anti gun agenda supporting Brady and the AWB.

Well, their position is crystal clear. No sense even debating it with them.

I vowed years ago that I will never be a member of AARP.

They sent me many invitations to join for over a year. I refused to join the leftist organization. I believe there is a conservative alternative, but can't recall the name.

Our society’s slide into barbarism is the reason old people feel like prisoners in their homes.

Legions of fatherless boys born to unwed mothers into the fourth and fifth generation and the “hip-hop” glorification of criminality are more of threat to seniors than any firearm.

Right. Since, according to their “polls”, such an overwhelming majority of AARP members support all kinds of gun ownership restrictions and purchases, they have no need to debate.

I wonder though (scratching head like Columbo), why everytime an anti-gun candidate runs for national level office, they lose? And aren’t the democrats on record as saying gun-grabbing legislation is a loser for them, so try to keep a low profile when they attempt to grab guns?

I’d really like to see the methoology of their “polls”. The reason I say this is their numbers are really at skew with similar polls taken at a national level (meaning not in the Hamptons, Marin County or Martha’s Vinyard).

Something smells, and it’s not the AARP’s soiled depends.

They sent my wife and me invitations to join when we were only 25 years old (idiots). I’ve seen and heard their lies to their members so often that they will never get my money or membership.

The AARP is a liberal Democrat supporting organization. I quit the Audobon Society about ten years ago when they began to go left and stay there. It angered me when they sent my donations to the Democrat candidate for president. ..you can add any animal/wildlife/ecology/preservation society to that left list.. The only right preservation societies are the ones that are pro 2nd Amendment.

The conservative seniors group is the ASA; American Seniors Association, and can be found at AmericanSeniors.org .

They have some good info on the AARP - which I have left - and are looking for new members and support.

The AARP also supports Hillary care. What better way to solve the Medicare, Medicade, Social Security problem than to limit services to the elderly. Look at England, Canada or Hillary’s proposal. After a certain age care is denied. Who does the AARP serve?

I have also vowed to never join this organization. As stated before, they are a leftist organization, on par with the ACLU and moveon.org, et al. Despite their denials, they are very much involved in politics and should immediately lose any tax-exempt status.

I asked them years ago to take me off their mailing list. They did not so every time I get mail from them I tear up the contents, stuff it into their postage-paid envelope, and send it back to them. Burn up some more of their money. If I could attach it to a brick and send it back, without repercussion, I would!

I’ve started getting crap from them lately too and I’m only 46. I need to go back to my old habit of signing up for magazines using different variations of my name so I can trace the junk mail back to its source.

I believe there is a conservative alternative, but can't recall the name.

If you come up with it, please send it to me asap. I turned 50 last year and they've been hounding me ever since. Been after my wife to join for the last six years. She's beginning to weaken... arguing they they do offer many great deals for seniors in many areas. It just grates on my soul to give them any money (even only $12 in annual dues) that they could use against my Civil Liberties & the Second Amendment, specifically.

Great post, thanks. Never joined and never will, just for AARP POLITICAL shenanigans.

Mr. AARP should realize that AARP surveys are more like measures of the marketing effectiveness of his own deluded, twisted and un-American organization.

The aarp is just like United Way ...both claim nonprofit status, but they are arms of the gubmint seizing sheeples hard earned money. I’m a CFP ... the reason that death taxes will never disappear is because the entire life insurance industry is built around minimizing estate taxes. aarp is one of the strongest lobbyist for keeping estate tax. Wonder why???? An extra 25 cents for my fellow freepers .... Ever wonder why W. Buffet is so adamant about keeping the death tax. The lions share of his investment kingdom in invested in insurance and reinsurers. Well duh ... follow the money.

The life insurance industry is a powerful lobby. They are also actively trying to destroy the FairTax because it will take away one of their selling points. For both life insurance and annuities.

It always amazes me how the IRS can grant non profit status to huge, powerful organizations and the congess can appropriate money to those same entities.

Does anyone truly believe that the American Cancer Society wants a total cure for cancer? Organizations like that are on the front lines of defending the existence of the IRS because the IRS gives them a franchise to accept revenue tax free and the revenue source is federally subsidized.

I'm not saying these organizations don't do good things. I'm saying the conflicts of interest, stacked up, would reach to the moon.

I truly think that the AARP was against SS reform because it hit too close to their beloved franchise.
