John McCain's Very Bad Day
Time .com ^ | 2/21/08 | MICHAEL SCHERER/ WAYNE

Anytime John McCain declines to speak to the press, something horrible must be happening.

Back in New Hampshire, McCain held press conferences after every event, taking questions from reporters more often than he'd rub his lucky nickel. In Iowa, he would talk to scribes for hours on his bus, get off and then 30 minutes later hold an avail. The journalists would look at each other, bemused and defeated, with no questions left.

But Thursday was a different matter. In the wake of a scandalous New York Times story suggesting a romantic fling with a lobbyist, McCain arrived at a Ford Focus car assembly plant with a decidedly tense grin plastered across his face. His campaign staff promptly separated anyone with a pen or a tape recorder from the candidate. "The McCain campaign decided who they wanted on the tour, and it's only photographers," a nice lady from Ford announced after a reporter spotted the candidate behind a car chasse and tried to approach him.

“I never thought I would see the day the people on this website would cheer on a leftist media smear machine on a repub and actively help elect a radical socialist dem.”

You haven’t seen many days on this website since you joined in January, 2008. McCain isn’t a conservative Republican and that has nothing to do with the NYTimes story.

"By the time McCain "legalizes" 30m illegal aliens, the result will be the same, and more likely, because there will be no loyal opposition. "

Agreed. This is the way I look at it.

Perhaps upwards of 90% of Americans tend to "catch" the short term threats to our Republic but often fail to fully catch the long term threats, because the latter require much deeper analysis and more savvy future projection. This explains our growing inability as a nation to catch, in the years and months leading up to it, what the Japanese would do on Pearl Harbor or al Qaeda would do on 9-11, but our national engagement and our attention span kicks in fully once things get hopping and "in our face". In the case of Pearl Harbor, it was "not too late". We vanquished the enemy and maintainined our liberty and sovereignty. That may not always be the case. Here is why:

The immigration amnesty fiasco which McCain perpetuated and will do as president, will be the LONG TERM, SLOW,INCREMENTAL UNDOING of the United States, demographically and more importantly ELECTORALLY. Millions upon millions of heretofore Illegal Aliens but now "regularized" and naturalized, will go out and vote in DROVES and vote solid liberal Democrat, and then you will have the inability to elect any Conservative Majority in this nation by the sheer numbers (this is what the lib media calls "The Changing Face of America"). And then, it is over. One big statist, third-world cesspool run by a liberal democratic oligarchy safely ensconced in power election after election after election. This will be just as deadly as Abu Sayyef or al-Qaeda, the argument of the McCainiacs for his election.

But whether Obama/Clinton OR McCain are elected is rather, objectively speaking, insignificant. In eight years, there will not be a United States for me to return to in either case, for the above erosive reasons.

You know, I just got to post #48. You’ve got a lot of nerve chastising me after saying almost the same thing.

Why do you care if a radical takes over .

I just wanted to add my .02 here. You are right to fear a takeover, but with all due respect, what you and many others still aren't realizing is that the takeover is going to happen whether you vote for a D OR an R, because both parties have been taken over by socialist-globalists. John McCain is a globalist, that is why he has been one of the worst when it comes to the borders, being for amnesty, etc. And why he has trampled the constitution, even if he claims with his words that he is a "conservative." And why he is friends with globalist Hillary Clinton and has said she is a "very good person" who has "good character, honesty and integrity."

If you go to the link in my tagline and watch the video, you will see a speech about what these enemies of our country have been planning for many years now. Their strategy has been to take control of BOTH political parties, that way voters do not have a meaningful choice, and the globalists win either way. So don't fall into their trap of believing that McCain is a "good guy" just because he has an R by his name. They are ALL liberal globalists. If you vote for ANY of them, you're voting for the path to destruction of our country in favor of a NWO.

If folks are going to continue to be angry, they do so at their own peril.

In fact, it is not anger, but utter disgust.

It is those who would allow such an atrocity to be president, to allow the further erosion of our God given rights and sovereignty that do so at our peril. Without the Republicans in opposition, there is no opposition.

No. Only that it will be assuredly proven in the next few months that their initial instincts to not trust him, (and accordingly vote for Huckabee in droves) will be made even more clearer. It is only a matter of time. This is not about the NYT, the scumbags that they are, as it is about John McCain, the scumbag that he is.

Post # 48 was chastising you?

I’m sorry you think that.

I was fed up with posts before that.

I’m sorry if you thought I was chastising you...

..except that you had nothing more to offer than repudiating him for being here less than a month.

I agree for the most part, but one can take solace in the House of Representatives, or at least there is some bare hope, providing the Dems do not gain a super-majority there. Between the stalwart Conservatives there, and their conservative Dem counterparts, there is still an ability to block the worst of it.

The White House is gone, done deal. The Senate matters little, as there are not enough Conservative voices to matter there. The House will be a hard go, especially if the Traitorous Bastard is our standard bearer, But treasure and labor invested there could result in a serious means of defense.

Obama (or Hillary) in ascension will have no real effect if the House can be salvaged, and kept to at least a close minority.

McCain in ascension results in no coattails (or RINO coattails), and a continuation of the plan that has been in effect for years now- that being Globalism, and the subsuming of our Constitution beneath the banner of the UN, and further (and more dangerously), beneath the banner of the NAU/SPP -A house of paper in the control of the bureaucrat puppets of the various administrative branches involved.

At least the Dems would have to take a couple years to get their game on.

we have few ways to go on the offense, it will be a game of defense for awhile, then other tactics may have to be reverted to when the other shoe drops.

I never thought I would see the day the people on this website would cheer on a leftist media smear machine on a repub and actively help elect a radical socialist dem. McCain hatred has warped people beyond repair. ..... melt

This is a Conservative Website. Not a Republican Party Website. Therein lies your explanation. Deal with it. ...... AmericanInTokyo

If that is the case, then maybe you should change your screen name to "Conservative in Tokyo" and form common cause with others who call themselves "religious conservatives" in Islamist Iran and al Qaeda, "Stalinist conservatives" in Russia, "Maoist conservatives" in Red China and with Yuko Tojo in Japan, all of whom have a hatred for America fueled by their own version of what they call "conservative".

I always thought that Free Republic was always, above all, a PATRIOTIC AMERICAN forum.

AMERICAN patriots do not cheer to have America lose a war.

Traitorous Copperheads, "useful idiots" and "misguided terrorist supporters" do.

************

Free Republic Home Page: ------------ "Free Republic has been rallying in support of our President and the war effort since shortly after the terrorist attack on America on September 11, 2001. Later, as the inevitable war against Iraq drew closer, more and more of the "useful idiots" of the left began crawling out of the woodwork organizing so-called "anti-war" protests. FReepers are working to ensure that these communist organized (See: INTERNATIONAL A.N.S.W.E.R.) demonstrations do not go unanswered. Patriotic Americans are countering these misguided terrorist supporting leftist groups wherever and whenever they show up. Join or form a Free Republic Chapter, grab your signs, unfurl the flag, and prepare to support your country!"

Well, get used to this reality if you can’t get behind McCain...

1. McCain-Fiengold-Obama: Only unions can give to candidates!
2. McCain-Kennedy-Obama: All amnesty applications are also democratic party memberships!
3. McCain-Lieberman-Obama: Only minorities can go to college!
4. Kerry-McCain-Obama: Only US military personel can be tortured!
5. Gang of 14: What used to be called the GOP!
6. Federal Embryonic Stem Cell Research labs run by NARAL!
7. Publishing of Top Secret Info on CIA operatives!
8. No drilling in America!
9. Ms. Chelsea Clinton makes a “fine President” in 2012!
10.Gitmo sold to Hugo Chavez!
11.Reversal of Bush & Reagan Tax Breaks made retroactive to 1980!

I totally agree, but Conservatism is a first for me. What the heck are we going to do?

Simple. Vote big "c" Conservative. ALWAYS. That is the strength of the Reagan Coalition. If we will settle for no less than a Reagan Conservative, there will be no win. If there is no win without us (and there isn't), then the party must align itself to that reality. It didn't happen in 06, maybe not in 08, but it will happen, or there will be a new Conservative party, and the Republicans go the way of the Whigs.

Electing more RINOs by way of compromise and pragmatism only elects more RINOs, and defeats our cause. It is a vote against the Reagan Coalition, and a vote for the Baker "big tent".
