Obama: US soldiers in Afganistan so poorly equipped they use Taliban equiment.

Posted on 02/22/2008 6:20:46 AM PST by HD1200

Tuned into the debate last night and this idiot Obama proved again does not have a clue.

He made the statement that US platoons are going short manned to Afganistan because a portion of them are being sent to Iraq. Then he said our soldiers in Afganistan are so poorly equipped they are using captured Taliban munitions!

I can guarantee you if this was the case the media would have been all over it months or years ago. Who is going to challenge him on this?

Thanks Mr.B

I don’t when in the twenty years I have resided in this great nation I have been more frightened of a candidate than this dreamer.

He has fallen for his own mythical rhetoric.

God help us all - the field of choice is so very limited.

You’d think in a nation of such great and good people .....

... perhaps the work of a president these days is considered thankless?

You know, I’ve heard from an Army captain...

When has any military person ever said anything like "We have enough of everything we need. Please don't send us more."?

Standard CYA practice is to ask for much more than you expect and then when you don't get it, you have an excuse, and someone above you to point your finger at.

Obomba, and his ilk, hear this stuff, and take the blame right to the CIC.

re: AK 47’s; I disagree and I think the majority would say the M16 is superior to the AK47:

AK-47 Pros & Cons
Pros
The AK-47 is a very effective weapon with great power
It has a very high rate of fire
comes at a very reasonable price.
simple to operate, clean, and repair
reliable
Cons
Very loud noise
it’s heavy
not as accurate as most military rifles
any optics require special adapters
Many people don’t like the AK safety mechanism

M-16 Pros & Cons
Pros
It’s lighter,
more accurate,
more versatile,
allow numerous modifications to be made
such as mounting various uppers
Cons
The 5.56 ammunition
reliable with proper maintenance

If Obammer jammer slammer got ten thousand letters from military people praising everything and one containing a complaint, he would seize upon the one that is critical. He is typical of a person who has never actually been in charge of anything, or of a journalist, or a lawyer, to name other professions which fundamentally thrive only on fault-finding—never do anything, never make anything, never build anything, never risk their lives for their country, and get well-paid for their worthless efforts and irresponsible prattlings.

The 7.62x39 has a bullet weight of around 123 gr. compared to the 5.56 at around 60 gr. the heavier bullet will hit harder and therefore penetrate better. its like talking to anyone who understands the knockdown power of the 45 compared to the 9mm. I do agree that the m-16 is more accurate than the AK but when your up close accuracy is negligible compared to knockdown power.

But but I thought that tapdancer Obama wants all the troops removed from the ME???

Obama wants himself installed in the White House ... and like JF'nK, he is willing to say whatever it takes, including lies and fantasies, to get himself there.

I agree, this is an irresponsible statement and exposes Obama as not up to the position of President.

Good point. Captains in line organizations are Company Commanders or on Bn. Staff, Platoon Leaders are LT’s. I have a son who is a Captain in SF and he commands a DA (Direct Action) Detachment (A Team).

Hey dumbass obama! Can you please just talk about “hope and change” until after the primaries? IMHO, that is when your enlightenment should come to fruition.

This man seems to be Obama’s military advisor:

Scott Gration: A retired Air Force major general and fluent Swahili speaker, General Gration met Senator Obama on a trip to Africa and the two have been in close touch ever since. General Gration flew missions as a command pilot in Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he served as commander of Task Force West

He mainly has been a pilot, a flight instructor, and what looks like a political guy. Now I love the Air Force, as I come from an AF family, but this guy’s resume does not look to have adequate qualifications to advise on the kind of war we are fighting.

I need to find it, but I read somewhere that General McPeak (AF Chief of Staff, retired) had something to do with Obama’s campaign too. Many thought McPeak was a disaster to the AF.

He’s got some impressive credentials, but I don’t think he has spent much time thinking about Rifle Platoons.

"Who is going to challenge him on this?"

Rush Limbaugh's call screener, Bo Snerdly (James Golden) just did a brilliant job after being dubbed the EIB's new "official Obama criticiser" (since he is an African American) by Rush. Bo has challenged the Obama Lama ding-dong to provide a name - some proof - anything ... because he wants to believe .... he has hope ... he wants an investigation! As always, Rush is on the cutting edge of broadcast excellence, illustrating absurdity by being absurd.

The "official Obama criticiser" will return after this break at quarter til the hour. Find a radio or an Internet stream.
