Bloomberg Praises McCain, Huckabee on Immigration

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the Republican presidential candidates have been more supportive of immigration than the Democrats, according to a report in NY1.

Bloomberg singled out some Republican politicians for trying to move the country in a different direction.

"The ones who have stood out interestingly enough are three Republicans: [Arizona Senatior John] McCain, [former Arkansas Governor Mike] Huckabee, and President [George W.] Bush have all been much pro-immigration than the other candidates," said the mayor.

"Even after 9/11, when it would have been understandable for us to become fearful about the rest of the world, we have continued to welcome immigrants at a history-making pace," said Bloomberg. "And they have more than repaid us."

McCain has supported giving illegal immigrants a path to citizenship. It's a position that has drawn criticism from members of his own party.

Meanwhile, Mike Huckabee, has adopted a tougher stance against illegal immigrants, in an attempt to win over conservative voters.

"Candidates are doing polls to find out where they stand, rather than doing polls to find out where the public stands," said the mayor.

Huckabee explained his stance on immigration tonight on Geraldo. I’ve always agreed with Huckabee’s stance and don’t have a problem with it and I am very conservative. Fix the borders, fix the process, make those that want to live here legal...and yes, I read all the propaganda about his stance in Arkansas, but dig a little deeper and maybe you’ll find what I found.

...and by making them legal, I don’t mean amnesty and neither does Huckabee. He wants them to go back to the back of the line and then come in legally.

I was rather thinking the same thing. Where are the "bragging rights" in it?!

"The ones who have stood out interestingly enough are three Republicans: [Arizona Senatior John] McCain, [former Arkansas Governor Mike] Huckabee, and President [George W.] Bush have all been much pro-immigration than the other candidates," said the mayor.

This is the man John McCain chose to be his "Hispanic Outreach Director." Hernandez is a certified traitor. Born in Dallas, he decided as an adult to become a dual-national Mexican citizen. His last "real" job was serving on Mexican President Vicente Fox's cabinet as his "American Reconquista Director." After that gig ran out, he worked (sic) for George Soros funded internationalist foundations, like the one that published his new book.

The "New American Pioneers" proclaimed in his book are the illegal alien invaders he urges to become settlers in the USA. Hernandez believes all Mexicans and Mexican-Americans in the USA should become dual citizens and consider themselves Mexicans first, "to the 8th generation." He believes there should be no border at all between Mexico and the USA, ever.

And this is the man McCain chose for his "Hispanic Outreach Director." In the past week McCain was asked about this choice, and he said he chose Hernandez because he agrees with his positions. If so, McCain is supporting invasion and reconquista.

Then I read our Constitution, Article 4 Section 4, where it says the federal government MUST protect the states from invasion, and I can only conclude one thing: John McCain is our new Benedict Arnold.

"In his own words: McCain’s radical Hispanic outreach director Juan Hernandez on youtube"

Nonsense. He wants them to pay a fine of 5 pesos and come right back in. Tyson Chicken needs em. But it’s not “amnesty”. 5 pesos and they will pay their “debt to society”.

Meanwhile, if an American citizen is found smoking a cigarette at a Bennigans in Little Rock, he/she is a criminal who faces a $250 fine.

He’s a liberal. Being a baptist minister is wonderful but it doesn’t make you a conservative. Hell, he’s not even a Republican or a RINO.

The only reason he won’t run as a Dem where he belongs is because they burn pro-lifers at the stake.

I’m beating a dead horse. Huck is finished. Nothing personal, he’s probably a nice guy. I wish him well hocking Home Gyms in infomercials with Chuck Norris at 2 am. Let him get a real job and keep him away from any levers of power.

“The ones who have stood out interestingly enough are three Republicans: Arizona Senatior John McCain, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and President George W. Bush have all been much pro-immigration than the other candidates,” said the mayor.”

Bloomberg actually thinks most people agree with his stance or that American citizens have no right to demand our country remain sovereign. These elitists are so out of touch, so arrogant & greedy...

Pro-immigration!!! Read pro-illegal alien. We should use attrition though enforcement and then put a moratorium on legal immigration. In a rational world that would be a no-brainer.

I am curious to know what others think will happen in this country if Obama and McCain defy the states who have successfully passed enforcement laws and the majority of Americans & have enough bad guys in the Congress to pass amnesty. Thoughts please. I think it will be interesting indeed. Will the American people give up or find a way to fight back?

I disagree. Huckabee has a plan to complete the border fence by July 2010. He has a strong 9 point plan to secure the U.S. borders.

http://www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction=Issues.View&Issue_id=26

3. Prevent Amnesty

* Policies that promote or tolerate amnesty will be rejected.

* Propose to provide all illegal immigrants a 120-day window to register with the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services and leave the country. Those who register and return to their home country will face no penalty if they later apply to immigrate or visit; those who do not return home will be, when caught, barred from future reentry for a period of 10 years.

* This is not a “touchback” provision. Those who leave this country and apply to return from their home country would go to the back of the line.

**********
As a Governor he could not do things that he can do as a President. A Governor has to provide education and healthcare to illegals (whether we like that or not). As a President he can promote and change immigration law in this country. Sounds a lot better than McCain, Obama, or Clinton’s plan...

Thank you for disagreeing in a civil manner though. I appreciate that.

Take care...

That statement is patently untrue. No governor has to provide education and health care to illegals!!!

Huck will be back. He is still young.

I hope he has learned his lesson and embraces conservatism. If he repents I’m sure conservatives will listen and appreciate it.

No hospital can turn away a patient who needs healthcare. That is why the hospitals in the border states are in such financial trouble.

As to the education issue, read this:
