I am all for it if they are illegal and have false documents on them.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you don't live in a city. I suspect you don't even live near a city (or a dictionary, for that matter).

Let's see ~ is this a city?

Not exactly ~ the Commonwealth of Virginia classifies it as an Urban County, which is the same as being a city but the state builds and maintains the roads and sidewalks (a peculiarity of this state and Hawaii).

If I get up on my rooftop I can actually see the United States Capitol Dome.

Can you?

Be careful with this. We already have it with drugs. An innocent person unknowingly involved or associated could be in danger of losing their possessions including a home. The more our government can take the more they will. If these funds were to go 100% to victims I wonder what the interest would be.

In Denver they just steal what they want.
When it dies or is otherwise lost, go steal another.

I wouldn't call an urban county a city, but nevertheless my crack was unjustified and I take it back. Your reasoning appears to be: if the car is impounded (for immigration status), and if the driver fails to reclaim it (again, immigration status), and if the auction price does not cover the costs, and if the purchaser is an illegal alien, then the program amounts to a subsidy to illegal immigrants.

And that is disregarding the benefit to society of having the car impounded in the first place.

Imagine going North on the I5 right there where it splits to the I805 on Wednesday morning about 7:30 AM without any cars driven by illegal aliens.

Why you could go 90 MPH without fear!

Have you seen the kind of beater cars these guys drive? Once they reach maximum satori in real time (and the bumpers fall off) they just dump 'em in the road anyway.

Nobody sells those for anything but scrap.

That’s another “if.” Care to add more?

NO “if” there at all. There are so many illegals around there are hardly enough beater cars for them. Lot of them in this area ride bicycles.

Ok, so if the car is "worth" nothing more than scrap value, and someone purchases it at auction, how is that a "subsidy?"

It got towed, and maybe even cleaned up a bit ~ and never underestimate the ability of an illegal alien to fix up a worthless beater car so that it runs ~ kinda.

If we aren’t going to deport them, than sieze everything they got. They will leave soon enough if we keep at it. What we sieze (proceeds of a crime called illegal immigration!) it pays something back.

I got a better idea. Seize the illegals just long enough to deport them.

Amnesty Proponents Launch Campaign to Shut Down Debate!
Please Act Now to Ensure Our Voices are Heard!
Having lost last year’s epic legislative battle over the Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill, pro-amnesty forces are regrouping and launching an all-out campaign to censor the media and stop the debate over true immigration reform. This attack on the media should not come as a surprise. Having failed at every turn to win the immigration debate on the merits, pro-amnesty groups now have little choice but to try to shut it down. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO ENSURE THAT OUR VOICES ARE HEARD AND THAT FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS PRESERVED!

As part of this campaign, La Raza and other amnesty proponents are specifically targeting corporate executives at CNN, MSNBC, and FOX and are asking them to ban representatives from pro-enforcement organizations such as FAIR and NumbersUSA from the airwaves. This amounts to nothing more than an attempt to censor the media and control what points of view the American public can hear. To read more about these attacks on the media, see this Associated Press article.

FAIR is urging all members, activists, and friends to take action immediately to counter this attack on the media!!!! Please contact the media executives listed below and tell them how important it is that both sides of the immigration debate are presented on the airwaves. Tell them organizations like FAIR and NumbersUSA represent millions of Americans who want our immigration laws enforced. Please use the email, fax, or phone numbers below to respectfully share your opinions. To send a fax, click here. To see a sample email, click here.

This alert is of critical importance!!! Right now, media outlets continue to give voice to the millions of Americans who want true immigration reform. However, if media executives do not hear from you, the only voices they will hear are from amnesty proponents!!! Let them know that your opinion matters too!!!

Sample Email:
Dear Mr. (name of executive),

You have probably heard from amnesty proponents and special interest organizations asking your network to not allow groups such as the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and Numbers USA to be allowed on air as guests. As a viewer and as a concerned American wanting to here both sides of the immigration debate, I strongly object to these McCarthy-like tactics designed to silence the voices of longstanding, credible organizations fighting for meaningful immigration reform.

Immigration reform is one of the most important issues of our time. It deserves broad media attention and a vigorous, robust national debate. And, while disagreement is a perfectly acceptable part of this public policy process, shutting down debate through censorship, intimidation, and baseless allegations is not and never will be acceptable to me, nor should it be acceptable to media organizations that pride themselves on being independent. I cherish living in a nation where our First Amendment rights allow Americans to hear all sides of all issues.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform is the largest and oldest immigration reform group in America. Over the course of 30 years, FAIR has testified before Congress over a hundred times, and has appeared on your network and others on a weekly basis offering fair, practical and effective solutions to our immigration problems.

By attempting to dictate who may and may not appear as guests on your network, pro-amnesty special interest organizations are doing nothing less than attempting to silence their largest threat - groups that they disagree with and who represent the vast majority of Americans. I urge you to resist this coordinated campaign to stop the debate.

Sincerely,

(your name)

There's a legal problem here.

Foreign nationals (which is what illegal aliens are) are not prevented from owning anything in the US. In order to seize their property, they would have to be charged with a crime, and tried. They are street legal if they have a Mexican Drivers License. No license? Well they can be tried for that and the car would remain forfeit, since as illegals they can't get one, hopefully. I don't believe the states can try them for illegal entry ... or punish them for it. That's a Fed job ... which they won't do.

Seizing their automobiles is probably only really legal if the vehicle is held as bond, pending trial and a guilty verdict for something.

This is a bit of a legal thicket ... brought about by the Federal Government's refusal to enforce the law and guard our borders. Illegal entry is a misdemeanor and a Federal Offense.

Let the Feds start trying them for illegal entry. Deport them when caught. Let them take their cars back to Mexico, or wherever. They can drive home.
