I'm going to enjoy writing about a general election campaign against Barack Obama.
As Corner contributor Dave Kopel and David Bernstein note, Barack Obama proposed a few years ago a federal law against licensed firearms dealers operating within five miles of a school or park. As Kopel notes, "Every town I've ever visited which has more than a few dozen inhabitants has either a school or a park. Hypothesizing that the ban would apply to city parks (e.g., Central Park in New York City) but not to National Parks, pick a geographical region, and describe where a licensed firearms dealer could operate. Or pick a geographic point (e.g, Houston)and identify how far a peson would have to drive in order to get to the closest point where a gun store could legally be located. Extra credit for illustrative maps."
As the commenters noted, this would effectively ban gun shops from most of the country, and just about every city.
However, Obama appears to find another kind of establishment to be perfectly fine operating near your children's school:
Obama was also the sole present vote on a bill that easily passed the Senate that would require teaching respect for others in schools. He also voted present on a measure to prohibit sex-related shops from opening near schools or places of worship, which ultimately did not pass the Senate.
In both of those cases, his campaign said, he was trying to avoid mandates on local authorities.
The bill did not get the required three-fifths majority, so it did not in fact pass. (Mr. Obama voted “present” on the measure.)
Why on God's green earth does Barack Obama object to mandates on local authorities for porn shops but not for gun stores? Or conversely, why does he feel it's necessary to keep gun stores five miles from a school, but no limit on porn shops?

Obama will be much easier to beat than Hillary, IMO. The ONLY reason he’s done so well against Hillary is because they’re not really throwing blows like McCain will do to the winner of the RAT primary. I’m pretty confident that McCain will destroy Obamanation when/IF it comes down to a race between the two of them!
What delivery companies accept firearms to deliver? I don’t have my CCW and I can’t transport rifles without it. I’m just thinking about getting something at Walmart and having it sent here.
Keeping porn shops close just makes sex education easier.

My nephew still doesn’t believe that we had a shooting team in high school. Heck, pickup trucks with a full gun rack in the rear window wasn’t uncommon out in the parking lot.
Not sure what Obama is, other than a part-time Senator cashing full-time pay checks, but he's no Profile in Courage, that's for sure.
I hope someone is combing through every last detail of anything this leftist twit has every done or said in public life. There must be soooo much material out there if only we can find it. I’ll bet that if any journalists actually bothered to do research they would find out so much that would wreck his chances with a majority of Americans.
btw, someone should thorougly examine his years from law school to the time he first ran for the IL legislature. There are 10+ years of which we know almost nothing except that he was a leftist “community organizer” in the Saul Alinsky tradition — surely it is most likely that there are loads of embarrassing statements, actions, etc. that will doom this candidacy. I think of similar people I knew in college, such as one who went on to be a community organizer with the leftists at ACORN, and I know that Obama has spent much of his adult life saying and doing things that would arouse strong distrust and yes contempt from a majority of Americans. The press is determined not to examine the real career of Obama — but someone’s got to do it!!

So if the gun shop has been there for 50 years and they want to add a school that is within the 5 mile circle, then, who gets to relocate??? That makes a pretty big “no store zone”. In many small towns, it couldn’t be implemented-—

Obama is an extremist. Pro-abort extremist - even to the point of opposing a bill outlawing the killing of born-alive victims of abortion; pro-gay extremist - even to the point of wanting to overturn DOMA and have them serve openly in the military; pro-illegals extremist - even to the point of wanting to give them drivers licenses.
Now he’s a gun-grabbing extremist, supporting the unconstitutional DC gun ban and ready to propose his own anti-RKBA bills.
