Can someone explain why everyone on this thread is badmouthing Huckabee and what they hope to accomplish doing it?

Welcome to GOP 2008. That's the face of it. The Constitution Party should seize this opportunity.

You ditto heads are delusional. Huckabee helped organize Christians in the south to vote for Reagan. He was part of the revolution from the beginning.

Did you know that Mike Huckabee and his band played at both Freeper Inaugural Balls and that he stood by Free Republic when all other politicians were too embarrassed to do so?

One of these days the Huckster supporters who have never lived under his governorship will come to understand why we actively tried to educate them on his more liberal than conservative history in office.

I've thought Freepers from Arkansas a valuable resource to weigh Huckabee's terms in office. I appreciate your input.

But elections are excercises in relativity. We are comparing candidates against one another, less so to some philosophical standard.

It is interesting to note, that of all the candidates who had been public servants, Huckabee received the most support from his home state. Not only was his margin of victory in Arkansas overwhelming, but every single county in Arkansas gave him the majority of votes. McCain and Romney were unable to achieve that kind of support in their respective home states.

That, in my mind, is a significant endorsement and tells me how popular a governor he was to those he governed. And frankly, and with no disrespect, that endorsement pulls much more weight than the handful of posters that hold an opposite opinion.

I was angry with Huckabee over the 1000 Pardons he issued, but was sorry when he was so sad as he gave his Speech. He is a good man.

Huckabee is the REASON we are stuck with McCain.

Absolute nonsense.

Franklin's proposal was not even voted on, let alone adopted. Considering his known Deist beliefs, the general consensus that he proposed this simply to defuse a particularly acrimonious debate makes sense.

The Convention chose to recognize no religious principles within the Constitution itself. The fact that Huckabee believes this should be changed renders him unworthy of support for the Presidency.

“he has to leave before he was able to get enough delegates to top Romney to gain second place status”

Huckabee did beat Romney in delegates:

“Absolute nonsense”

People who suggest Huckabee is the reason McCain is in there are in a state of denial about their own candidate.

Huckabee was the most Conservative candidate we had to choose from during the primaries.

Now McCain is the most Conservative candidate we have to choose from in the general.

Amen to all of what you say. I was so sick of Huckabee I would turn the channel to another when his face showed up. This was all about him and what he could get. The fact he got so many Christians to buy into his story line was really disheartening. Christians have to wake up and look below the outside veneer of a person. Huckabee was not made of presidential material. He was too self-centered and selfish besides being ignorant about foreign affairs.

Plus in addition, many of these Romney delegates were won in states, no one but Ron Paul contested seriously.

Why do you suppose no one else contested those states?

Hint: it has something to do with their chances of winning had they decided to contest them.

“I’m thinking DU disruption.”

You’re thinking too much.

Huck wasted everybody’s time, including his own, more so when it was obvious that McCain just needed a heaping handful of delegates to win the nomination.

He’s got 200 something delegates and what’s he going to do with that?

Not a ditto head, usually tune off the big guy when I hear him. He was working for Reagan in 1980 and 1976? Why doesn’t he ever mention it?

Best argument I've heard yet to to make him President, wow, no one else need apply.

May I point out that many of us, perhaps most of us, saw Huckabee as a nanny-statist, illegal-loving stooge? If he hadn't gotten traction with the so-called 'values voters' whose main criterion for the Presidency is having a plastic fish on the back of one's car, Fred Thompson might have had a fighting chance to win the nomination away from Juan McInsane.

Good riddance to the Huckster, may he spend the rest of his life in deserved obscurity.
