"I'd rather lose an election than lose the principles that got me into politics in the first place."

The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: that God governs the affairs of man [Romans 8:28]. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice [Matthew 10:29], is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it [Psalms 127:1]. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel [Genesis 11:1-9].

Good. Now go home and take limp-Dick Pryor out of the Senate and don’t bother anybody anymore.

Congratulations, Mr. Huckabee for standing by your principle of running until the end, and for honorably conceding defeat.
(There was no shame in his not rolling over and not trying to compete with McCain).

I thought it a fine concession speech, and I am gratified that he did what he said he would do: once a candidate reached 1191 delegates he would quit. He accepted his defeat and graciously bowed out, offering to help get the nominee elected and battle for other party candidates. That is the way to do it.

My heartfelt condolences to the many Huckabee FReepers. Tonight is disappointing, I am sure. Thank you for your commitment and for voting your conscience, my FRiends.

Huckabee has a lot of class. Too bad he didn't do better.
Think he would have made a fine President.

I am sorry to see him go, and I think he had a lot more in the cojones department than his rivals, who simply stepped aside and let McCain be annointed.

Not a Hucakbee supporter, but McAmnesty ‘winning’ makes me want to barf. However, a liberal, globalist republican getting annihilated in the upcoming general election will be the best thing for the once-great GOP in the long run.

I was angry with Huckabee over the 1000 Pardons he issued, but was sorry when he was so sad as he gave his Speech. He is a good man.
