RUSH: Here is Bud in Burlington, Indiana. Bud, thanks for waiting, and welcome.
CALLER: ... Indiana. Anyway Rush --
RUSH: Wait, what did I say?
CALLER: I don't... I couldn't understand, but it was actually communist Bloomington Indiana. So... (silence) Are you still there?
RUSH: Yeah, I'm here.
CALLER: Anyway, I'd like to really quickly thank you for two things. First off, unlike the so-called moderates who called in yesterday complaining about your recommendation for Republicans voting in Democrat primaries --
RUSH: Yes?
CALLER: -- I want to thank you, because I don't know if you're aware of it or not -- no one's bringing up this point -- but Rush, you are single-handedly probably costing the liberals an extra hundred million by extending the Democrat primaries, and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
RUSH: You are more than welcome, sir.
CALLER: As a matter of fact, if you have your staff do some research when this is all said and done, probably a hundred million would be a drop in the bucket, so...
RUSH: You know, Snerdley of making that point yesterday. He said, "Something you're leaving out here about your brilliant strategy is that it's costing them money to throw this mud at each other, and it's money that they're not going to have for the general election that they were planning on having because they wouldn't have to spend it between now and then, but the fight goes on."
CALLER: Absolutely. Can I make one quick other point?
RUSH: Sure. Fire away.
CALLER: Okay. Recently my ten-year-old daughter -- who, by the way, makes you look like a liberal -- went out with my wife and searched on the Internet for conservative T-shirts, and out of all the hundreds of shirts she picked, she picked one of your shirts off your website that said "Still Voting Democrat? Then You're Stuck on Stupid." But I just want to thank you for that, because when I go in public and the liberals read that shirt, the expression on their faces is absolutely priceless, and I just wish people could see what I see when I wear that shirt.
RUSH: I'm very flattered, and give your daughter our kindest regards. It's very nice. Thanks so much. Speaking of the battle, the war, the internecine warfare going on in the Democrat Party, it continues today. This is from Byron York at National Review Online. Greg Craig -- remember him? -- former Clinton White House counsel, the lawyer for Alián Gonzales, who successfully got him sent back to Cuber? "Greg Craig...now supporting Barack Obama, has just sent out a letter sharply attacking Hillary Clinton's claims to experience in foreign policy." Greg Craig says, "'Senator Clinton has cited a handful of international incidents where she says she played a central role,' Craig writes. 'But any fair-minded and objective judge of these claims i.e., by someone not affiliated with the Clinton campaign would conclude that Senator Clinton's claims of foreign policy experience are exaggerated.' ... Craig writes that it is 'a gross overstatement of the facts for her to claim even partial credit for bringing peace to Northern Ireland.'
"Her claim to a role in bringing peace to Bosnia is also unfounded, Craig says. Her claim to have negotiated the flight of refugees from Kosovo 'is not true,' according to Craig, who quotes Bill Clinton's top envoy to the Balkans as saying, 'I cannot recall any involvement by Senator Clinton in this issue.' And on Rwanda, where Bill and Hillary Clinton have said that she pressed him to intervene with U.S. troops, Craig writes, 'There is no evidence to suggest that this ever happened.' Finally, Craig attacks Hillary Clinton's claim that her 1995 speech about women's rights in China also qualifies as foreign policy experience. 'It is strange that Senator Clinton would base her own foreign policy experience on a speech that she gave over a decade ago,' Craig writes, 'since she so frequently belittles Barack Obama's speeches opposing the Iraq War six years ago.'" So it just continues now. Greg Craig, who is as close to the Clintons as anybody could be, has signed up for Barack Obama and has now sent out a letter ripping Hillary Clinton to pieces! This is exactly what we want. All of this stuff can become fodder for Senator McCain's campaign, or the RNC to run commercials during the general election.
Also, somebody brought to my attention, what's the date of this? I printed this out a couple days ago. DogonVillage.com is the website. Www.DogonVillage.com, dot blogs or slash blogs, slash, African-American. Rush the Vote. "Rush the Vote: Rush Limbaugh Provides Viable Strategy for Black Voters." Listen to this, folks, just to show you how my strategery is bleeding over into other groups. "From an ethical standpoint the crossover vote inspired by Rush Limbaugh aiding Hillary Clinton and potentially undermining the candidacy of Barack Obama is at a minimum offensive. Thinking more long-range I would argue that it is time for Black America to embrace and adopt the strategy. Paying homage to one of the more effective proponents it should be known as 'Rushing the Vote.'" This website has named my strategery! Rushing the vote. "Republicans will no longer be able to ignore the Black vote if even 10 or 20% of us crossover Rush the Vote to decide the Republican nominee or wreaking havoc in their primaries. It will also break the stronghold that the Democratic Party has had for far too long proving that our vote should not be taken for granted. If for any reason Barack Obama is not the Democratic presidential nominee, Black voters will have a perfect opportunity to Rush the Vote in November and we will be credited with the McCain victory.
"It should be noted that Black Republicans such as," this is a radio guy here mentioned, "have advocated this sort of swing strategy for years. Now that the effectiveness was proven in Texas and Ohio, let's plan to Rush the Vote whenever it is in our best interest." This is a black website, and the author here has named my Texas and Ohio strategy is Rush the Vote, and it succeeded, and is suggesting blacks can use this, too. Crossover and elect a Republican president and show the Republicans how effective and important the black vote could be if they'd court it, and also show the Democrats we're not going to be taken for granted, anymore. So, folks, this is having benefits beyond even my wildest dreams, beyond even my wildest imaginations. Black Americans have seen the effectiveness of the Limbaugh strategy, of the Limbaugh Effect, and are now thinking of incorporating it as their own, and have even given it a name: Rush the Vote. I love this, too. The name of the website once again, is DogonVillage.com.

They won't.
I suspect the chaos would have been there anyway. Rush may have added to it but Hilldog is such a polarizing beast that the division was pretty much unavoidable.
Fantasy. Pure fantasy. They can start walking now, and still won't find the boundary line of the Plantation by November.
Just like the morons in New Orleans: If they'd have started walking when the news said the storm was coming, they'd have got to Texas before Katrina hit.
So would anybody who look at Obama's record.
Yes, I will pose a question that I wanted to ask Rush today but the chances of getting through to him are nil so here goes.
What happens in 4 years when we have our next primary season and Rush’s ploy is the accepted way to wreck the other parties nominating process? I know there have been crossover influences before and according to Rush that’s how we got McCain but Rush’s popularizing the idea will take it to a whole new level. The only way to defend against it in the future will be to make all primaries closed. I don’t think Iowa and New Hampshire and probably not S Carolina will go for that. If he thinks he’s created chaos for the Dems this year he ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.
What was all that about the demise of Conservative Talk Radio. hehe
By the time Pennsylvannia rolls around, Dems will nearly 1/2 BILLION DOLLARS invested in this PRIMARY CAMPAIGN!
How many poor kids could go to college on that money?
How many meals for inner-city kids would that pay for?
How many mothers could get free healthcare with that money?
But...
It’s NEVER really been about that for Democrats, has it?
They won't.
You're right. McCain would never attack his own people. He prefers to slam Republicans.
Be sure when you “RUSH THE VOTE!” that you vote AGAINST the Democrat incumbants in lower offices in the Primary....
Let’s create some REAL CHAOS for the idiots!
......They can start walking now, and still won’t find the boundary line......
There must be an epiphany. There must be an on the road to Damascus moment for each and every person. Until that revelation, that great flash of realization, that penetration of the mind encompassing rind...... No black votes will change.
Rush's ploy? It was the rat's ploy! How do you think we got stuck with RINO McCain? It was all those rats and liberals who crossed over and elected who they thought would be easiest to beat, or most like their side if he won.
All Rush did was suggest that the rats be given a dose of their own medicine.
My senators are Levin and Stabenow. Nuff Said?
How do you think we got stuck with RINO McCain? It was all those rats and liberals who crossed over and elected who they thought would be easiest to beat, or most like their side if he won.
I think I mentioned that in my post but don’t let that stop you. Rush has a megaphone and he’s using it to promote an idea that will now expand exponentially. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprosed to see it become part of the party platform for both parties.
“By the time Pennsylvannia rolls around, Dems will nearly 1/2 BILLION DOLLARS invested in this PRIMARY CAMPAIGN!
How many poor kids could go to college on that money?
How many meals for inner-city kids would that pay for?
How many mothers could get free healthcare with that money?
“
-—It’s not as if this money was put in a barrel and set alight. Just because it got spent once doesn’t mean that it can’t get spent again on some of your desired ways.
But I don’t like the “liberal” idea of thinking that the money spent on campaigning is “your” money that got diverted. I don’t like it when they libs use the old “think what we could do with the money being spent on Iraq” argument. It is not their money to spend. If not spent on the war, then it should remain in the worker’s paycheck.
Of course the other thing wrong with that argument is- providing for the common defense is one of the ONLY things that the government should be doing with OUR money.
“It was all those rats and liberals who crossed over and elected (McCain)”
Can you support that claim?
Another possible result: the end of the primary system. Back to the smoke-filled rooms at the convention hall.
That process has already started, in a way. Superdelegates. Just a fancy name for "the people who are given a door pass for the smoke-filled room."
If it makes states have closed primaries, so much the better.
Hey, the dems want to play these games (and they started it), then lets do it.
You're right, the only way around it is closed primaries. Since the dems take out our guys early, and we sow dissension and confusion in their ranks later, which party has to spend more?
Seems to me that the dems will want to limit their financial losses and will call for those states to close their primaries.
We should already be doing that, but since the RNC/GOP if lead by a bunch of spineless wimp RINO's, it hasn't happened.
Look for the RINO's to oppose closed primaries... I know, it's a wacky world.
A campaign contribution never fed a hungry child.
Rush didn’t think up cross over voting. We did this years ago when we lived in a county with few Republicans. We would vote for the worst democrat in the primary to go up against the only Republican in the general. There weren’t enough of us Republicans to make much difference but at least we felt like we were fighting back.
Four years from now this probably will be the accepted method.
It’s going to force both parties to closely examine the effect of open primaries.
The Dems have had an easy time of crossing for decades, albeit at much lower levels, and this is probably the best way to call attention to the fact that it needs fixing.
Like our southern boarder, neither party wants to close the primaries, but this will force the issue.
Sadly, it appears that McCain is determined to run a “kinder, gentler” campaign.
Rush is doing the job Republicans and other conservatives should be doing.
By the way, I think the political parties need to limit participation to their own members in the future.
We don’t like getting a McCain and the Democrats are not going to love reliving the 1968 convention.
Interested GOP parties must sue to block any revote in Florida and Michigan.
The argument is simple: it cannot be guaranteed that voters who voted in the Republican primaries would not be able to vote in the Democrat revotes. The result would be a corruption of the Republican primaries already held, and it would be waged on equal protection grounds of the 14th amendment. Democrats cannot get a second vote unless Republicans are also provided with one.
Then the RNC needs to come out prior to the Democrat convention and very publicly declare that all sanctions against seating delegates will be lifted at the GOP convention, and all GOP delegates will be counted.
This will put incredible pressure on the Democrats to seat the Florida and Michigan delegates, leading to an all out civil war within their party, including lawsuits from Al Sharpton. It will be a lose/lose situation for Democrats.
They won't.
True. The RNC, and GOP are too stooopid and/or too spineless to ever think of using common sense and fight... It's pathetic.
Is the Michigan primary and open primary?? If so, maybe the Republicans should not sue to block it, but rightfully demand ballots so they can vote. Given the relative closeness on the rat side, the republicans could determine the winner.
Of course the rats would complain. They always complain about something.
I think black votes will change if Hilary gets coronated even though Barack has the most elected delegates.
And we want Romney in, because the more Republican candidates we have fighting it out, trashing each other with negative ads and spending tons of money, the better it is for us. We want Mitt to stay in the race, and to do that, we need him to win in Michigan.Oh the bitter irony, Markos!
We don’t even need to win the lawsuit to prevent a Democrat revote, BTW, we only need to stall it until it is too late. I think waiting a while before bringing an injunction would be the best of both worlds. Get the tension really high between the two Democrats first while the engage in the nastiest campaigning against each other in a chaotic finale. And then drop the hammer down on them at the last minute, preventing the vote from taking place.
Like our southern boarder, neither party wants to close the primaries, but this will force the issue.
The other thing Rush could do would be to threaten to create his own political party, organizing his own grass-roots movement to get the party qualified in all 50 states (and possibly also DC, just for grins). Rush wouldn't have to run for office, just produce the venue for someone to do so - and nominate the ticket himself. That would dramatize the fact that political parties are not governmental entities but private organizations which are under no obligation to be internally democratic. No primaries - not even a national convention - are necessary for a political party. As such, the Republican Party betrays RINO tendencies when it allows people to vote in Republican primaries who won't even associate with Republicans.
He would fail.
That's all he did? Do you remember making this post?
Have Rush Limbaugh and GOP Crossovers Helped Revive a Nightmare Ticket?

... "Rush is a genius! "
Are the rats fighting? Is it getting ugly?
So what's the problem?
He IS a genius!
On post 16 you say "Rush's ploy? It was the rat's ploy"!
I'm confused, is he a genius or someone who simply copied the RATs ploy?
It would certainly be a high-wire act. But you must consider that he has a good-sized mailing list in his 24/7 subscription list. Considering the possibility that he could parlay that into petition signatures in the several states - or even in just the purple and red states - a threat to create a competitive national party (strictly for a presidential run) would have to be respected. The purpose of the threat would be to force the Republican Party to hold Republican (closed) primaries or hold no primaries at all. That is a natural right of any party, including minor parties and the Republican Party.
I agree with the idea of closed primaries.
This is a defining moment in politics, especially for the Republican Party.
Rush’s actions will either spur them to fix the primaries in some fashion, or that new party you talk about it going to come into being almost on its own.
I much prefer to stay with the Republicans, as the conservative wing of that party is a natural home for most of us.
I agree - provided that the GOP consistently nominates a Republican. In the case of McCain, that is only marginally true - and he actively solicited independent/Democrat votes in the Republican primary.
Indeed.
And since they stuck us with Mccain, and they dislike the Hell they are experiencing when it’s turned on them, maybe they’ll finally agree this party crossing nonsense should end. If not, I’m more then willing to cross lines and have some fun.
