PATERSON TELLS HIS NOT-SO-WISE MAN: THANKS FOR NOTHING (gov's motel trysts spark more scrutiny)
NY POST ^ | March 23, 2008 | Fred Dicker, additional reporting by David Seifman, Georgett Roberts

Posted on 03/23/2008 8:10:41 AM PDT by Liz

WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE.....Bill Lynch, a top Democrat, advised Paterson to reveal his affairs.

Gov. Paterson is angrily blaming former Deputy Mayor and long time Democratic operative Bill Lynch for the "disastrous advice" to disclose his extramarital affairs......."Lynch helped the city's first black mayor lose office, and now he's helping the state's first black governor do the same." Lynch, a deputy to Mayor David Dinkins and a lobbyist who brags of his ties to public officials, played a key role in convincing the new governor he could end widespread rumors of martial infidelities if he simply disclosed their existence.....Instead, the disclosure - initially incomplete - triggered a damaging media frenzy that still continues. "It was the wrong advice, and it has damaged David badly," said a source who knows Paterson well. Several sources said Paterson has privately conceded that his public disclosures - first in an interview and then at a tense, and bizarre, press conference with Michelle at his side - were a major mistake. Democratic officials also fear that Paterson may have been so badly damaged by the disclosures that he will have little chance to attract the tens of millions he would need to mount a 2010 campaign for governor. Paterson ducked questions and received chants of "David! David!" from a jubilant crowd during an appearance before Al Sharpton's National Action Network in Harlem.......powwowed with Sharpton and made a brief speech about fairness..... "Just as it is always important not to forget where you came from, which I will not do, it is also important not to exclude anyone else in the way we were excluded for so many years by others," Paterson told the crowd.

Ousted NY Assemblyman and corrupt Dem party boss Clarence Norman Norman was tried, convicted, and received successive jail-time for similar campaign transgressions Paterson admits to. Norman used campaign funds for pricey clothes and shoes.....and more. Norman was sentenced to 2-6 in prison for not reporting thousands of dollars in in-kind political contributions and pocketing a $5,000 check intended for his re-election committee.

DID PATERSON DO THIS?

(1) Norman was accused of filing vouchers for travel expenses with the Assembly even though the Kings County Democratic Party had already footed the bill.

(2) Norman was sentenced last month to 2-6 years in prison for not reporting thousands of dollars in in-kind political contributions and pocketing a $5,000 check intended for his re-election committee.

“Lynch helped the city’s first black mayor lose office, and now he’s helping the state’s first black governor do the same.”

Nah, he wouldn’t be playing the “They’re going after me because I’m black” card, would he??

and Ears thinks we can move beyond this, when everyone of color screams racism at the drop of a hat..

Hmm. One step shy of actually blaming him for the affairs themselves. And not a very big step.

Maybe if you had kept yourself under control, sir; and not cavorted with associates and bimbos in cheap hotels and bought furniture and all that other stuff (who knows what).

Do you think, bozo, if you had carried yourself with dignity and honor, that you would have needed your former friend's advise?

Snort. If Paterson was dumb enough to think that a modified limited hangout would work, that’s on his own head.

Paterson kind of had it made, didn’t he? He was a Lieutenant Governor (what exactly do LG’s do?)...he could fly under the radar, do all these things and nobody really cares...and then...he’s moved up the ladder, probably something he didn’t really aspire to, and then he loses all his goodies, and now, he may even lose his job in a humiliating fashion. Remember people, what you do when you think you won’t get caught usually comes back to haunt you. All of this is just crazy...Can you imagine if they were Republican, though? They would attach it to McCain, for sure.

The Feds recently pulled Spitzer’s security clearance. I’d like to know if Paterson’s got one. And if so, did he lie to get it.

Rush speculated (haven’t heard this anywhere else) that the guy that Paterson cuckolded didn’t know about it until Paterson started blabing about it. Poor guy.

Powwowed with Sharpton, then played the Race Card.

Sure didn't see that comin'.

Was it the affair that did him in or the fact that he used tax payer dollards?

Which would have come out anyway as the folks continue to vet him!

He could have survived the affair since he confess and it was long ago, but using tax dollards bump him out of the running!

Now he has no post Yikes!

Sorry but it is sort of amuzing how politicians have these moments of dilutions!

Well, speaking as a “typical white person,” I think it’s not a race problem, but a politician problem.

Stupid is, as stupid does. And if the first black NY governor loses his position over it, he deserves it for being such a dumba**.

But hey, at least he didn’t tap his foot in a bathroom stall!
