How Kenya’s best kept secret became a hotbed of insurgents

Dateline: Saturday, December 12, 1964. At around 3 pm, just as Kenya turned into a republic, the newly sworn-in President Jomo Kenyatta’s convoy drove from State House, Nairobi to the flag-decked Thika Road to officially open what he described as "Kenya’s best kept secret" and Jamhuri Day’s "big surprise" – the so-called Lumumba Institute. He didn’t know it was a communist school of politics designed to topple him.
Forty years later, questions are still asked about how the new Vice President, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, managed to trick Kenyatta to approve a plot to topple him. It was a move that not only left top schemer Tom Mboya dazed but also confused Kenyatta’s inner circle — composed of Mr Mbiyu Koinange, Mr James Gichuru, and Dr Njoroge Mungai.
And when they realised what had happened they threw senior Chinese and Russian "spies" stationed at the institute out of the country. Others simply disappeared....

Sorry Beckwith, I was not drawing your attention to the agreement between Odinga and NAMLEF, as I already know you know about that. I was pinging you to the main article, which should prove to be a bombshell (espcially when considered along with the above mentioned agreement). Can’t wait to see what happens when the other blogs, conservative newspapers, talk radio, and Fox et al get ahold of this!

Odinga is not Obama’s first cousin. To be Obama’s first cousin Odinga must be the son of one of Obama’s parents siblings or vice versa.
That is clearly not the case.

I have tried to advise fellow freepers not to trust pro-Kibaki propaganda. Digging up stories from the sixties does not help. The best way for African Leaders to obtain aid money during the Cold War was to alternate between posing as Marxists and Capitalists. There were only a few true socialists like Nyerere in Tanzania.
Even Mobutu dabbled with the Chinese (they build one or two stadiums in Kinsasha). Idi Amin was friendly with Israel until syphilis induced madness took over him - he then moved over to Gaddafi. Siad Barre of Somalia rapidly alternated between East and West (all that mattered to him was competition with Haile Mengistu Miriam in Ethiopia). The Zambians were ‘marxist’ when Mao helped them build railways, subsequently pro-western, now pro-chinese because of investment in copper mines.

I’d say setting up a headquarters to overthrow the government of Kenya on behalf of the Soviets/Red Chinese is just a little different than accepting assistance for railways, etc. Also, Odinga’s son (Raila Odinga), and Obama’s apparent first cousin, was educated in Soviet controlled East Germany, named his son after Fidel Castro, and is currently attempting to accomplish the same feat as his father: THE OVERTHROW OF KENYA’S GOVERNMENT, and the installation of an Islamo-Marxist dictatorship with the full support of our would-be Commander-in-Chief, Barack Hussein Obama.
