On the stump, Bill Clinton pokes fun at superdelegate contest
Billings Gazette ^ | April Fools Day, 2008 | Associated Press

Clinton poked fun at the situation superdelegates suddenly find themselves in. In a close contest between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, it's the superdelegates who may ultimately determine the Democratic presidential nominee.

"It is frankly disgusting the way all of us are fawning over these superdelegates," Clinton said, after being introduced by Dennis McDonald, chair of the state party and a superdelegate.

"Even though I offered to shine his boots on the way over here, I am trying to show some restraint," Clinton said.

...

The former president told tribal leaders in a meeting before his campaign event that the federal government's relationship with American Indians has deteriorated since he left office and that his wife would work to restore it.

While in Montana, Bill Clinton made sure to mention energy, talking about clean-coal technologies. On the economy, he noted rising gas prices are costing each family a lot more money each year.

"And that will be a lot more in Montana because it's a lot further from here to there, wherever there is," Clinton said, drawing laughs from the Great Falls crowd.

...

A Democratic presidential candidate hasn't carried Montana since 1992, when Bill Clinton was aided by Ross Perot to unseat George H.W. Bush. Clinton received 38 percent, to Bush's 35 percent and Perot's 26 percent.

...

The state has been solid red in presidential elections since. Clinton lost the state in 1996, and Democrats have finished a distant second in 2000 and 2004.

...

"If you elect her, she will drive this country back to those balanced budgets and fiscal responsibility," he said.

Nice of Slippery Bill to bring up western states coal, eh?

When Letterman went back on the air a month or whatever after 9/11, he told a story about a small community in Montana that, despite a drought's impact on farming and ranching, held a fundraiser for the victims. "If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about America, I can't help you."

... well at least until the Riady family offers him more to shut down coal mines to make Riadies' coal worth more.

Super Delegates are a joke. Democrats like them but when it comes to them loosing they hate them. That’s exactly how they feel about the Electoral College. They want don’t want to listen to the voters, only the delegates. So why vote?

I say go over to the other site, stir discussion amongst the enlightened. Let those with a voice, express their views. Make them support their candidate.

Of course. They were stumbling for a while, but you can see the smugness and confidence level rising in all of them now (even Chelsea). These talk radio hosts have ALWAYS underestimated the Clintons, and always will. The Clintons just can’t come fully alive politically-unless things look hopeless & their backs are to the wall.
And therefore they’re always underestimated.

“Hillary Clinton Will not run for Senator.” -Rush Limbaugh

“Hillary Clinton can’t possibly win the senatorial race. Too much baggage, she’s seen as a carpetbagger, etc.;”-Rush Limbaugh

“Hillary can’t win re-election.” -Rush Limbaugh

“I seriously doubt Hillary is going to run for president.”-Rush Limbaugh

“Hillary Clinton can’t possibly win the presidency.”-Rush Limbaugh

I personally heard Limbaugh make each and every one of those statements through the years, before I stopped listening. Pretty good batting average, eh? Why that stupid moron Ingraham or any of the others would listen to ANYTHING he says about the Clintons is totally beyond me-unless they want them in again to increase book sales.

Yep. They believe they’ll win. And they may. Especially if some “rogue” media elements actually report (gasp!) on Obama’s background and let people know what he’s all about again (aka Fox News and Preachergate.)
