Howdy everyone!! Are you ready for a FReepathon?!!

Sorry about the downtime yesterday morning. We had a problem with the database and John ended up having to reload the whole thing. And then, as Murphy would have it, everything that could go wrong did go wrong. But looks like we're up and running again, albeit with some lingering problems. But I'm sure John will get those ironed out soon so he can get back to work on the new features he's getting ready to introduce.

Also, sorry about being gone all day yesterday. I was at the VA hospital where a team of doctors and cardiovascular surgeons were examining my legs and trying to come up with a treatment plan for the circulatory problem I've been fighting for the last several years. The good news is they think they can save my legs! Hurrah! And I will probably be out most of today too. I'm going back to the VA this morning for some sonogram tests. More on that on another thread later. By the way, I was really impressed with the professionalism, courtesy, concern, care and respect the VA staff gives to our veterans. These people are great!

Now on to the business at hand:

We are headed into a very interesting election cycle. It seems the three very best and most qualified candidates available have bubbled up through the primaries and are preparing to fight it out for the presidency.

Let's see. On the Democrat side we have a corrupt, power hungry, America-hating, freedom-hating, socialist/Marxist (female dog word removed) vs a corrupt, American-hating, freedom-hating, socialist/Marxist "black liberation" activist. Wonderful! Talk about too liberal. The Democrats are completely off the charts to the left with these two.

And we match them up with a corrupt, left-leaning, free speech hating, open-borders/global warming activist Republican in name only who just loves teaming up with conservative stalwarts like Feingold, Kennedy, Lieberman et al. I mean this guy never met a liberal Democrat that he couldn't team up with to deprive us of even more of our dwindling rights and freedoms! Wonderful! I'm so thrilled!

And now we have FReepers at each others throats on whether to support McCain or allow one of the other leftists to take the presidency. Wonderful! This is so great! Nothing like a good hot, extended FReeper flamewar!!

Well, I don't think the McCain supporters have much to worry about. There's no way that America will go for either of the two Democrat Marxist moonbats. Way too liberal even for the Democrats. And McCain has no use for conservatives, but he is vastly expanding the Republican BIG tent. I have no doubt that he and Lieberman will pull in enough of the democrat vote to offset the conservative voters who are fleeing in horror. Whether we can bear pulling the lever for him or not, thanks to the idiot democrats running the most liberal America-hating candidates they can find, John McCain is finally going to see his turn in the White House. Glory hallelujah! I'm so thrilled! ROFLOL!!

Well, as I've said a million times, we do indeed live in interesting times.

But enough with all the great political stuff already! Let's get down to the FReepathon and start having some fun!!

1. At lunchtime, sit in your parked car and point a hair dryer at passing cars to see if they slow down.

Pinging the DC Chapter... I know there are a bunch of you who are already dollar-a-day Freepers, and another bunch of you who make one-time donations during each Freepathon, and to all of you I say thank you! Your donations to FR help keep the site running. With all the crap the lefties are pulling, all over the country, we need FR to coordinate our "attack plans."

It's very heartening for me to read After Action Reports from Freepers across the country who are standing on streetcorners waving signs and flags in support of our troops, and defending recruiting centers in their hometowns. FR is our meeting place, where we share ideas and information on the lefties' plans and tactics, and plan our countermeasures.

The Berzerkeley city government plan to try and remove the USMC Officer Recruiting center is a great example of how important Free Republic is to holding the line and pushing back the radicals' attempts to trash our troops. Freeper weldgophardline's wife drove nonstop from her home in Colorado to stand with California Freepers and other troop supporters, and then she went into the council meeting and read them the riot act.

Without Free Republic and the can-do attitude of Freepers in California and surrounding areas, spreading the word (and outrage over the city council's anti-troops actions) online, I hate to think of the outcome of that council meeting.

And without FR, the DC Chapter would have a very difficult time reaching like-minded individuals here in the DC area to stand with us outside Walter Reed every Friday.

If we didn't have FR as our "community meeting place", do you think anyone would be standing outside Walter Reed, every Friday for three years? I'm sad to say that I don't think they would. The MSM certainly wouldn't publicize a patriotic event; why, that would give others encouragement to join them. We need FR to bypass the media and to organize our side in whatever anti-leftist battle that comes our way.

Considering the choices we are now faced with in November, we will need the organizing and news disseminating capabilities of a site like FR. Remember last year when the fools on the Hill were trying to ram illegal alien amnesty down our throats? Freepers were burning up the internet, posting phone numbers of key politicians and tying up their phone lines for hours on end. The politicians heard us, and they backed down.

Those of you who have been here awhile know that Freepers are everywhere in the world, reporting news before the MSM does, giving on-the-scene reports; and even making news themselves by uncovering frauds.

Of course there are other conservative sites that are doing similar things and promoting activism. Michelle Malkin is a good example. But she is limited in what she, as one person, can do. She can't find all of the stories by herself. Here at FR we are her allies; there are thousands of us. That enables almost instantaneous reporting of events, outrages, and activism opportunities. Together, we can fight the battles more effectively.

Well, that's my sales pitch. We need FR. We will need it even more come January 2009, no matter who takes up residence in the White House. Now, let's get MD, DC and VA up to the top of the donations list!
