Ted Turner: Global Warming Will Cause Mass Cannibalism
Newsbusters.org ^ | April 2, 2008 | Brent Baker

Posted on 04/02/2008 1:08:30 PM PDT by Alouette

Interviewed Tuesday for Charlie Rose's PBS show, CNN founder Ted Turner argued that inaction on global warming “will be catastrophic” and those who don't die “will be cannibals.” He also applied moral equivalence in describing Iraqi insurgents as “patriots” who simply “don't like us because we've invaded their country” and so “if the Iraqis were in Washington, D.C., we'd be doing the same thing.” On not taking drastic action to correct global warming:

Not doing it will be catastrophic. We'll be eight degrees hotter in ten, not ten but 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow. Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals.

Turner ridiculed the need for a big U.S. military, insisting “China just wants to sell us shoes. They're not building landing craft to attack the United States,” and “even with our $500 billion military budget, we can't win in Iraq. We're being beaten by insurgents who don't even have any tanks.” After Rose pointed out the Iraqi insurgents “have a lot of roadside bombs that kill a lot of Americans” and wondered “where do you think they come from?”, Turner answered:

I think that they're patriots and that they don't like us because we've invaded their country and occupied it. I think if the Iraqis were in Washington, D.C., we'd be doing the same thing: we'd be bombing them too. Nobody wants to be invaded.

how much hotter were we supposed to be by now 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago? Wait! back then we faced an imminent ice age because of Reagan’s militarism and coal-fired plants

When you’re too much of a nutball for Jane F’n Fonda to stay with...

you need to examine yourself a little better.

Turner said he the only thing that was wrong with him was a pinched nerve in his back, of course “I’ve got a mild anxiety but, it’s under control.” LOL

Did anybody actually hear old Teddy here during this interview? He sounded like an illiterate from the bowels of Africa.

He slipped once and said that the oceans would rise 8 inches, and vast areas of the Earth would become desert. All within 10 years. He then caught himself, probably because he and most of us will be alive in 10 years to nail him on it, and said 30 to 40 years.

These idiots know it’s a hoax. They’re preying on the stupid hoping to cash in on the new scam called “carbon credits”.

Are there no gibbets anymore? Why do we let traitors like this person walk the streets? Why aren’t Rosie O’Donnell, Jane Fonda, Michael Moore, Sean Penn, Cindy Sheehan, Jeremiah Wright, Ted Turner and the rest of that motley crew swinging from a yardarm or standing in front of firing squads? What has happened to the country I was born in 48 years ago?!

Turner went on to say that there are just TOO many people in the world for our resources....but he has NO problem allowing illegal aliens by the millions to stress our resources and infrastructure, typically 3rd world people who know or care nothing about the environment.

“if the Iraqis were in Washington, D.C., we'd be doing the same thing.”

What do you mean "we"? I would expect that Ted Turner would be the first to welcome our new Iraqi overlords.

A lot of the support, funding and terrorists are coming from Iran, Saudi Arabia and Syria. The last thing any of those countries want is a stable democracy in the middle of the Mideast, doubly so for Iran because with Iraq we almost have Iran surrounded with countries nominally friendly to us with Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan. One major failing we had is that we underestimated Iran's determination to harm us in Iraq.
