The statements of Jeremiah Wright aren't controversial and incendiary; they're wicked and stupid.
Slate ^ | March 24, 2008 | Christopher Hitchens

Posted on 04/07/2008 2:31:19 PM PDT by george76

It's been more than a month since I began warning Sen. Barack Obama that he would become answerable for his revolting choice of a family priest. But never mind that; the astonishing thing is that it's at least 11 months since he himself has known precisely the same thing.

"If Barack gets past the primary," said the Rev. Jeremiah Wright to the New York Times in April of last year, "he might have to publicly distance himself from me. I said it to Barack personally, and he said yeah, that might have to happen."

Pause just for a moment, if only to admire the sheer calculating self-confidence of this. Sen. Obama has long known perfectly well, in other words, that he'd one day have to put some daylight between himself and a bigmouth Farrakhan fan.

But he felt he needed his South Side Chicago "base" in the meantime. So he coldly decided to double-cross that bridge when he came to it. And now we are all supposed to marvel at the silky success of the maneuver.

You often hear it said, of some political or other opportunist, that he would sell his own grandmother if it would suit his interests. But you seldom, if ever, see this notorious transaction actually being performed...

To have accepted Obama's smooth apologetics is to have lowered one's own pre-existing standards for what might constitute a post-racial or a post-racist future. It is to have put that quite sober and realistic hope, meanwhile, into untrustworthy and unscrupulous hands. And it is to have done this, furthermore, in the service of blind faith.

Mark my words: This disappointment is only the first of many that are still to come.

Nice pictures, but they don’t prove your point, and they won’t, because Obama did not hang that flag.

Does the guy not do enough to offend you that you have to make stuff up?

Your initial Post 6 indicated that Obama “somehow managed to raise the Communist flag”.

How on earth is one supposed to NOT read that as Obama raising the Communist flag?

the heart of Barack Obama’s Dreams For My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance. What was Barack Obama doing seeking out Marxist professors in college?

Why did Obama choose a Communist Party USA member as his socio- political counselor in high school?

Why was he spending his time studying neocolonialism and the writings of Frantz Fanon, the pro-violence author of “the Communist Manifesto of neocolonialsm”, in college?

Why did he take time out from his studies at Columbia to attend socialist conferences at Cooper Union?

Most people who work local campaign headquarters are volunteers.

So no, likely no one on Obama’s actual payroll did that.

Like I asked before, why not use one of the myriad of TRUE reasons to oppose him?

Some of the myriad of TRUE reasons to oppose him :

— 100% taxation

— communal farms / the elimination of private farming

— the nationalization of businesses owned by “Europeans” and “Asians”.

— “active” measures to bring about a classless society

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1998112/posts

Obama stakes out the following positions in his attacks on the white paper produced by Mboya’s Ministry of Economic Planning and Development:

1. Obama advocated the communal ownership of land and the forced confiscation of privately controlled land, as part of a forced “development plan”, an important element of his attack on the government’s advocacy of private ownership, land titles, and property registration. (p. 29)

2. Obama advocated the nationalization of “European” and “Asian” owned enterprises, including hotels, with the control of these operations handed over to the “indigenous” black population. (pp. 32 -33)

"The statements of clergymen like Jeremiah Wright aren't controversial and incendiary; they're wicked and stupid."

"With each new utterance on the topic of Reverend Wright, Barack Obama seems to confirm his own moral obliviousness. Worse yet, he seems to have disdain for those who are troubled by his own unwillingness, even now, to break with Wright."

On his new campaign plane, Obama said he has spoken with Wright in recent days and disputed any suggestion that he or his campaign have asked him to stay out of the limelight.

"I have talked to him," he said. "I haven't asked him to do anything."

Walter Williams: "For the nation and for black people, the first black president should be the caliber of a Jackie Robinson and Barack Obama is not. Barack Obama has charisma and charm but in terms of character, values and understanding, he is no Jackie Robinson. By now, many Americans have heard the racist and anti-American tirades of Obama's minister and spiritual counselor. There's no way that Obama could have been a 20-year member of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church and not been aware of his statements."

Thomas Sowell: "It is painful to watch defenders of Barack Obama tying themselves into knots trying to evade the obvious. Some are saying that Senator Obama cannot be held responsible for what his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, said. In their version of events, Barack Obama just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time—and a bunch of mean-spirited people are trying to make something out of it."

Hussein Obama’s racist pseudo minister has turned the Dems' run for President into party's train wreck!

Devastatingly, Shelby Steele writes: “Obama has fellow-traveled with a hate-filled, anti-American black nationalism all his adult life, failing to stand and challenge an ideology that would have no place for his own (white) mother."

Just What Did Obama Know About Wright's Past Sermons? (Plenty)

“Barack Obama either agreed with what was preached from the Trinity pulpit, or he tuned it out and stayed around pretending to for political reasons. To say he stayed for 20 years but doesn't agree with Wright's preaching is incredible denial. It'd be like a man buying White Sox season tickets for 20 years, attending the games, and saying he's not a fan.”

Obama’s supporters want us to ignore this story… just push it under the rug. While they’ll align Republicans with any obscure pastor who does or says something controversial, they’re trying to convince us that Obama’s 20-year long close relationship with Wright, including his effective endorsement of him, his church and rhetoric with a $22,500 donation in 2006 is irrelevant.

“When Obama decided against wearing an American flag pin, we may all have been a bit too quick to accept his rationale, too quick to find that issue unimportant. Now, that American flag pin has gotten a lot bigger for a lot of us, especially in light of what may have been and may still be Obama’s deeper, and, perhaps, secret, less than patriotic beliefs about America.”

“Wright says that blacks can’t be expected to sing God Bless America because of racism. Obama doesn’t salute the flag during the National Anthem. That sure strikes me as an amazing coincidence since Obama swears he never heard Wright say anything against America.”

Here is the link to the Star Spangled Banner video with obama standing there without his hand over his heart...

Notice her ear ring!

I don’t think so but think of this

if obama get elected, then think of oabma’s friends, associates and family

he has connections to the nation of islam
black power groups
black panthers etc
then there is
the weather underground a terrorists group who has planted bombs and declared war on this country
there is
far left groups, communists, even move on . orgislamisits groups even from kenya where he has family

Right get the picture
now oabma is in the white house he now has access to the CIA AND FBI , he has access to claasified documents and classified actions on going around the world.

How do we know that these people he has been aroiund for most and some cases all of his life will not be getting into the white house
how do we know that these people will not get some info on our enemies and that info will be sued against us

we don’t

I really hope that our national security lot are investigating obama and his people as they right now are the biggest national security threat to our country

we will be destroyed from within

now it might sound a bit far out but think about it, he has been around all these people for a long time so of course he must agree with at least some of them, so why not think that they will get into the white house and get info

fed up of hearing off the PC media that of course obama doesn’t agree with these people, er most of his life he has been around them of course he must stop being PC about this and let the public know what is in store from obama

I fail to see the point of the post. Is at an attempt at sarcasm?

There is nothing anti-religious in the observation that charlatans and frauds sometimes infest the pulpits. This has ever been the case. Just another aspect of life on planet earth. Just as it is also true that some of the greatest human beings to ever walk the earth have been pastors, prophets and saints. These too have been with us from the beginning and I thank God for the fact because if those who have made themselves great in the eyes of God were not present and giving council and guidance I doubt very much that I or anyone else would take thought to the reality that sustains the world and opens the doors to salvation.

Yes, he did.

I believe there’s a special place in hell for people who literally use the Lord’s name for wickedness.

And...The most important part that NO one, not even clergymen, have pointed out, is that Wright's statements were blasphemous. For a man of the cloth to damn anything is wicked. But to say G.D. and use God's name in vain, against the Third Commandment - 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain,' is blasphemy.

If clergymen don't follow the Ten Commandments, if they blatantly break them as Rev. Wright has done, they should be stripped of their robes and titles. I just cannot understand why there has been no fury over this, at least by other religious leaders. Instead, Wright is still receiving praise from them for previous good works and his spiritual guidance - Duh... guiding people to use God's name in vain? Is that what our pastors are supposed to do? Do none of them realize that for Wright to have said “G.D. America” is more than inflammatory - it is a sin! Do we not call people, especially those who set themselves up as leaders and examples of religious living, on their sins anymore? God does! And, Rev. Wright seems not to fear the wrath of the very God he purports to revere!

What an outright, flagrant, in-your-face, sin against the very laws God gave us and clergymen are supposed to uphold. If he does not follow the word of God, I can't suppose any of his followers care about any of the other Commandments either. Certainly Obama has broken several of them: Look at Commandments 5, 7, 8, and 9. Maybe Obama wasn’t in his church when they were taught. Or, maybe Wright’s “church” doesn’t teach them!

Yet, it is obvious that no one has had the courage or insight to separate the racial aspect of Wright's attack, from the blasphemy he committed while attacking white Americans. What is with that? Aren't there any religious leaders who have found Wright's "G.D. America" statement totally unacceptable and detestable for an ordained person to have said to his congregation?

“If Barack gets past the primary,” said the Rev. Jeremiah Wright to the New York Times in April of last year, “he might have to publicly distance himself from me. I said it to Barack personally, and he said yeah, that might have to happen.”

Can some “reporter” or Hillary Chaos operative ask Barack if this quote from the New York Times/Rev. Wright is the TRUTH? If so, what did you (Barack) mean by it?

If not, he (Barack) has gone on to say enough things in his OWN words to raise awareness/insight into mind/character/agenda.
