In his upcoming biography of Jesus, "Basic Instinct" director Paul Verhoeven will make the shocking claim that Christ probably was the son of Mary and a Roman soldier who raped her during the Jewish uprising in Galilee.

An Amsterdam publishing house said Wednesday it will publish the Dutch filmmaker's biography of Jesus, "Jesus of Nazareth: A Realistic Portrait," in September.

The Christian reaction will be to quietly condemn this piece of trash, and let it go.

Now, didn’t some Dutch guy make a film about Muhammed and his cult recently? How did the reaction go to that? Hmmmm.....

Probably for the same reason this was posted in the news forum rather than in the religion forum.

Wonder when his movie about Mohammed being an opium addict, pedophile and child rapist will come out. Oh...that’s right. This is the Netherlands and he doesn’t want to be killed in the street with a Muslim’s note pinned to his chest with a knife, a la van Gogh. That’s why he’s blaspheming Jesus instead.

And Mohammed’s mother was raped by a goat....

Hey, that was no rape. Purely consensual.

The more interesting aspect, I think, is the conjecture that Judas didn't betray Christ, but instead did the deed his Master told him needed to be done. There was a book about a year ago delving into the question, whether Jesus told Judas to turn him over so the Lord's plan be fulfilled.

The title you used "Jesus Was Son of Mary and Roman Rapist" wasn't the original, published title and had to be changed. We are trying to reduce the number of duplicate threads:

'Basic Instinct' Director Paul Verhoeven: Jesus Was Son of Mary, Rapist.

Please just use the original published title and search before posting. Thanks.

The Media is a conduit of all iniquity.

The moron who wrote the story is just that: a moron; a tool; fodder.

As always, the real story is the machinery that demands such rubbish in order to serve it up to the masses who can't escape its menace.

And the evidence to support the virgin birth is what?

Faith, only faith makes it possible to believe. Maybe film makers should just leave other people's faiths alone. Then the Muslims would be happy and so would the Catholics.

It’s a rehash of the gnostic Gospel of Judas..every 10 to 20 years or so there is a TV special or a book that comes out proclaiming about the “new” discovery of this particular
“gospel”. They had a series of specials about it on the National Geographic channel in 2006 as though the book had never been discovered before. I first read a translation of “Judas” 20 years ago.

Actually, the author stole the idea from others. I've seen Dan Brown talk extensively on the subject, and I've never seen him disown the theory. But whether he believes it or not is irrelevant. Why write such an assualt on someone's beliefs in the first place? And you know where your sarcasm can be placed.

This Paul Verhoeve clown writes something very derogatory towards Christianity and gets a pass.
Had this ass clown written something nearly as bad about Islam he’d be killed.
Perhaps Christians need to start taking out some of these fools that are so course towards their religion.
Accomplish two things, make these morons understand there is a result in their garbage, and also show Mooselimbs how stupid they are.

That’s what all bomb throwers do....throw the bomb, then walk whistling away, hoping the concussion and shrapnel doesn’t reach them when the blast occurs.

Well Brown must have had an attack of conscience and fear when he realized just what kind of controversey he stirred up!

It isn’t an assault on the poster’s faith, the movie was an assault on a religion in an attempt to rock the foundation of faith.

The movie was a POS conspiracy movie. Like all good conspiracies, it took grains of truth and interpreted them to build the conspiracy.

But I guess if Christians are insulted and disgusted, then our faith is weak? BS. I’m a Christian and I’m damned tired of being insulted by these pukes who don’t have enough brass in their sacks to sink a fishing line.

Let’s drop the personal stuff. The author’s motive is unimportant. It’s the trend. I suggest that however unwittingly, Brown is part of it.

The author’s motive is unimportant.

Actually, the author's motive is of prime importance. Case in point: V for Vendetta. The author of the graphic novel and subsequent movie has said the material has nothing to do with modern America or England, he simply wanted to express his views on nanny-state control and totalitarianism. That matters a lot more to me than how the American left saw th movie, which was as a condemnation of the Bush regime. Dan Brown, same way. What he intended matters a lot more to me than how other Christians may view the film.

Then we’ll disagree on that point. I see Brown’s book as part of a larger trend that has been intensifying over the last few decades. If Brown didn’t intend to be a part of it, then he is a classic ‘useful idiot’.

To write a story plausible enough that persons will buy
it, involves a certain amount of personal study, research, as well as personal insight as to how one might find one’s own writ interesting if it were written by another writer.
Brown and his editors are not stupid or else the publisher would not have advanced the money to publish the book.

My point is that Brown is a bomb thrower designed to make a lot of folks question the foundations of morality...that he does so by a mixture of legend, dredged up gnosticism, historic facts twisted out of context, and fictionalized conspiracy mongering goes beyond the pale.

A lot of folks aren’t necessarily schooled in logic, church history, or philosophy. So, to write a book that purports to have even a patina of historic authenticity, even as the author lamely attempts to say “I made it all up!” is the height of cynicism and profiteering on the ignorance of others. Yes, I think Brown knew what he was doing, though he didn’t anticipate the blowback he received. Still, he didn’t get his head chopped off by a po’d Catholic or run down by an Amish horse and buggy!

Is there any other point you feel I haven’t made clear?

It requires no stretch of imagination to believe that while in the cave Mohammed did not have revelation from God but saw Satan in the disguise of an angel.
However, to believe the preposterous tale that the Virgin Mary was raped by a Roman soldier requires a foolishness of mind so great as to need psychiatric treatment. Unfortunately, far too many people believe that Mohammed did have a revelation from God, and far too many people will be willing to believe this latest slander against the Christian faith.

My version is better...
In his upcoming biography of "Basic Instinct" director Paul Verhoeven, Condor51 will make the shocking claim that Verhoeven is the illegitimate son of an Amsterdam whore and heroin addict, and of a syphilitic Russian sailor who picked her up on a street corner for three Rubles during his shore leave.

An Amsterdam publishing house said Wednesday it will publish the biography of Verhoeven, "Paul of Amsterdam: A Realistic Portrait of an Assh*le," in September.

No offense meant to syphilitic Russian sailors.
