Susan Estrich: Clinton or Obama on Top?
FoxNews.com ^ | 23 Apr 08 | Susan Estrich

LOS ANGELES — I hate pundits who remind you when they were right, and conveniently forget all the times we’re wrong. Half the fun of being a pundit is that it really doesn’t matter; that unlike the situation when you’re running a campaign, our mistakes don’t count for anything but amusement.

Even so, when I turned my computer on at 5 p.m. EDT on Tuesday and saw, on my favorite such source, the Primary Day Drudge report, the report that the exits were closer than expected, I couldn’t help but start laughing. My students thought, probably not for the first time, that I had gone slightly nuts.

There we were, discussing attitudes towards rape, and I was laughing. Still, it was my screenplay playing out. At the end of Act Two, it always looks like this could be the end for Hillary, like Obama, spending more, bigger crowds, momentum rolling, might just stop her in New Hampshire/Nevada/California/New Jersey/Ohio/Texas/Pennsylvania; the exits are always closer than expected; the obituary writers get their pens out, the Obama people start saying it better be a convincing win or she’s dead and then, whoosh, she’s alive!

On to the next state.

Same time, same place. See you in Indiana.

Will it happen all over again?

Please reword your title, I just had breakfast and the visual image is too much to take.

Actually, Susan Estrich chose the title.

When did you ever care if you were right or wrong, Susan?

LOL. I knew it was a serious title, but I couldn't help thinking - so that's what this is all about, this fight. Both want to be on top. (My bad). However, when this is all said and done, can you imagine who might want to be tagged for Veep? I doubt there are many Dems who will want to be associated with either of these candidates, once they get done smearing and exposing all the sordid details about each other. If I were a Democrat, I would think being Veep to Obama or Clinton would be political suicide, a worthless position, and a constant pain playing the cover-up game for them.

But, then, it's obvious that most Dem politicians don't have morals or ethics, or we wouldn't have these two out there who are supposed to represent "the best" of their party!

She admits she doesn't care:

"Half the fun of being a pundit is that it really doesn’t matter; that unlike the situation when you’re running a campaign, our mistakes don’t count for anything but amusement."

She's absolutely right. Pundits are entertainers and anyone who takes them more seriously than that is foolish

Besides, I figured that HT’s image would get just about anything else out of your head.

They must have used a dump truck of bondo to make her look like that!

My favorite line in her article:
“There we were, discussing attitudes towards rape, and I was laughing.” Just like she did during the Clinton Administration!

“There we were, discussing attitudes towards rape...”

And you know, that is just how I picture Susan and her students.

Susan having been a rape victim, I’m not sure what was so funny about the subject to her.

What a pointless article. She did not add a single piece of new information or a single sliver of a new perspective or idea. See what name recognition is worth? If you have it, you can write tripe like this and get paid for it.

Actually, I thought she made a good point about how the longer this goes on, the more likely it is that these two candidates will wind up on the same ticket.
