How We'll Know When We've "Won"?

1. When a power extremely hostile to the U.S. (be it Baathist Iraq or Islamist Iran) in the Persian Gulf has not yet developed nuclear weapons and delivery systems.

2. When the Persian Gulf Oil reserves that comprise 70% of the World's know reserves are not yet denied to the Free World by said hostile power.

3. Everything else is strictly optional.

4. You "win" by not "losing" on Points 1 and 2 and losing is not an option.

5. This will take as long as not losing South Korea.

We already have won. The media haven’t given up yet, though. It’ll be over when they stop making every car bomb a lead story. When the terrorists stop getting attention, they stop committing terror. The media are complicit in the terror, and the Dems encourage the media. At some point, they will concede that we have won the ground and the country, in spite of occasional terror that is not unusual in Phillipines, Thailand, Nigeria, or anyplace where muslims abound.

Did not bother to read past this:
let us consider in detail one of the most important of these arguments: that no one has offered any clear definition of success in Iraq.

Brain dead morons!!!

President Bush has defined success in Iraq for years!

The simple explanation:
1. When Iraq can GOVERN itself
2. When Iraq can SUSTAIN itself
3. When Iraq can DEFEND itself
Our Troops will come home with the honor they deserve!

Thanks for posting this!! To Mr. Kagan - right, right, right, spot on, should be required reading for all. For what it’s worth (which is not much), BHO reservedly told Chris Wallace today on FNC that he agrees with, and supports, the choice of Petraeus to head Central Command (caveats and Bush slams included, of course). Then there’s lunatic Howard Dean (I can’t stand that supercilious twit) on Meet the Press, when asked about the unfair twisting of McCain’s “100 year statement”, saying yeah, okay, BUT McCain’s still totally wrong - that ANY continued U.S. presence there in whatever capacity will mean continued attacks and more lost lives are inevitable.

The long version:

National Strategy for Victory in Iraq, November 30, 2005

Iraq Strategy Review, January 2007

President Bush has talked and talked and talked about Iraq, from Feb. 16, 2001 thru Apr. 12, 2008. Every word can be found here.

The media are complicit in the terror, and the Dems encourage the media.

Yes, shame on their disloyalty to our country. Too bad it’ll maybe take 20 years or so for history to accurate write the truth.

This excellent and comprehensive article should be force-fed to the Senate and House, with chamber doors locked while they are made to actually read and digest the entire document (then made to pass a pop quiz on it :-)). For all the broken-record libs who keep spouting to the media “we still need answers, specific, detailed answers” (while shutting out the reports and answers of the gracious, patient and tolerant General Petraeus during his TEN-PLUS hours of grilling by them on the first day alone!!)- well, here are some (more) real, detailed answers on what defines success in Iraq.

We’ll know we’ve irreversibly won, when the lying DemoCowards start rushing in front of the TV cameras to take credit for it.

None of the democrat congress, Lieberman an exception, will ever admit we are winning in Iraq. Their hatred for President Bush will never permit them to support our country and our military as should be done in time of war.

Do they ever mention there has not been another attack on our country because of the policies put forth by this administration and congress? No. I even believe the democrats want another 911 to happen just to lay the blame on the Bush Adm. Had they worked with this president from the beginning this war in Iraq would have been over some time ago.

I think the democrats are pure evil.

They’ve already made one sally at it a while back, with an argument i predicted that they’d use: “that it was their
constant pissing and moaning that made us change to a winning strategy, and making Iraqis fear we’d leave before they were ready to take control.”

What the evil bunch accomplished with all their moaning and bitching about pulling troops out now, set a time for bringing our troops home, meeting with Assad of Syria, etc was and is encouragement for the terrorists. That was their objective. They may be evil but not stupid. They turned the uninformed people against this war trying to force President Bush to leave before the mission in Iraq was completed.

They lied about what the president said about WMD in Iraq, they lied and made a big deal over Plame/ Wilson Niger yellowcake affair costing millions of dollars and a good man's reputation and livelyhood. On and on to hinder our winning this war, they've hurt our troops and the families of those troops. They are evil and I hate their evilness.

Exactly!

making Iraqis fear we’d leave before they were ready to take control.

All part of the plan. The Iraqis began to fear early on that we would leave them stranded. Remember al-Murthawi called for the immediate withdrawal of our troops on November 18, 2005. ONE month before their 3rd trip to the polls in 10.5 months. If they were seen as helping the Americans or the legitimate government, their entire family would be slaughtered when we left the country.

I LOATHE the demonRATS and a good number of republicans for encouraging and giving aid and comfort to the terrorists while in essence terrorizing the innocent Iraqis.

Actually, I found this article last week. The incessent whining and nagging began ONE YEAR after the initial invasion.

Growing GOP Dissent on Iraq

President Bush is facing increasing dissent among leading conservative politicians and pundits in the face of mounting U.S. casualties in Iraq.

The war has become the long slog that some Republicans feared. Since Sunday, 32 Americans have been killed in fighting across Iraq. American body bags are on the front page of major U.S. newspapers. The Washington Post and The New York Times brandished images of charred U.S. civilian remains last week.

The networks are leading their nightly news broadcasts with stories of dead Americans. "If we have two or three more weeks of this you are going to start Republican members of Congress who have never been critical of President Bush and the Iraq policy starting to get that way," said Charles Cook, editor of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.

Republican Party ranks are beginning to break and the White House is worried. Longtime GOP critics on Iraq are growing progressively more vocal in their condemnation.
