Ron Paul mulls how to spend $4M left over from failed presidential campaign

HOUSTON -- Congressman Ron Paul is considering using $4 million left over from his failed presidential campaign to start a for-profit publishing company that would reflect his Libertarian-leaning views. The move could test the limits of federal campaign finance rules.

Federal guidelines say the money can’t be used for personal things like vacations and mortgage payments, but it’s not clear if he could use the money for a company that would produce educational material. Paul also has a potential gold mine in his mailing list, if he rents those names to interest groups or other campaigns.

It was all-too predictable. Ron Paul is now mulling over how to use that $4million war chest of campaign contributions that he has left over from his failed presidential campaign.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Paul is thinking of starting a for-profit publishing company to promote his views.

This is basically the business he was in before he got elected to Congress in the 1990s, when he published the Ron Paul Survival Report and the Ron Paul Political Report. In those two newsletters, he accused US troops of war attrocities in Desert Storm and Somalia, in addition to all sorts of other drivel.

It was so obvious to some of us during the course of his campaign that Paul was building up the mailing list he dreamed of having, but eluded him, when he was marketing gold coins with his newsletters in the early 90s.

Ron Paul's presidential campaign was always about Ron Paul and now he intends to cash in, showing that he is just another greedy, corrupt, earmarking political hack, on top of being a traitor in the war against Islamic extremism.

I wish we had a nominee with such an impeccable 2A stance. He is still vastly more conservative than anything I’ve seen lately.

I wish him the best and may send him a few more bucks.

He should hold onto the money. If inflation keeps happening, he’ll make a comeback.

We had a pair of ladies who support RP come into the store last week trying to get us to put his posters, brochures, and bumber stickers around the counters in the shop.

When I refused them, they got irate, one repeating 2nd Amendment, and the other castigating us about not supporting the only true 2A candidate in the race.

I then informed her, that any candidate who supports the 2A is more than welcome to visit us in the shop, but if we allow one candidates literature, we'd have to allow ALL the candidates literature, and we are a business, not a campaign headquarters.

Their response was that we allowed other business cards to be displayed and we should allow the Ron Paul information. I explained the cards in question were for businesses related to Concealed Carry, and not candidate propoganda.

They turned to leave the shop, dropped all their information on the table going out the door, and left. That garbage was promptly picked up and round-filed.

How about sending the last $4 million back to his last $4 million worth of contributors?

Naaaaaaaaaaaah. Never mind.

Let's all hope that the funds don't end up in he hands of Lew Rockwell, al Qaeda, Pat Buchanan, or Stormfront.

Looks like George Soros stopped depositing funds in RP’s offshore account.

The Paulbots are going to be so disappointed that their fearless leader is taking their donations and contact info. and bailing out.

I guess he really is the cynical politician that we always knew he was. ;)

And you and your ilk are cowards who refuse to step up to defend America from the greatest threat to our way of life since communism.

Paul’s support comes largely from college kids who are too chicken to join the military to fight the Jihadists. FACT

I am a covenent partner for a 300 person church here in Texas. We could always use more help in getting together more things to send to Swaziland — tomorrow, we are going to be loading up a shipping container with a few odds and ends, you know, little sundries like:

1 ton+ of beans, 2+ tons of rice, sveral hundred school and hygience supply boxes for poor kids, a few hundred pairs of shoes, three tons of clothing, a few hundred pounds of furniture, that sort of thing. A chunk of that $4Mil would go a long way towards filling up more of that container and sending a larger team over there this fall to build a church, school, community center, and kids care facility in the worst slum in Manzini, Swaziland...

Just a thought. And a fine example of what a few hundred private citizens can do when they have the heart for it.
