I had to return something at Walmart yesterday and the person tagging the returns spoke no English.
When will we ever get a national language; English for preference.

The battle between Obama and Hillary could potentially shake black allegiance to the Democrats. If McCain came out strong for immigration reform, conservatives would love him and he might be able to sway a lot of black voters. I don't suggest pandering, but I do think the GOP platform is better for blacks. We ought to really engage in outreach and try to bring them to our side.

¿No habla ingles? Can't speak Spanish... Err, that would be: ¿No habla Español?

This is a thread about problems some citizens are facing due to the growing importance of Spanish.
And a lot of the comments are just making fun of how black people talk. Gee. I wonder why so many people think Republicans are racists.

Wouldn’t this affect white teens also?
Anyway, I find it difficult to believe that...
Someone can’t learn to order fast food in ENGLISH!

We live in a small town in NV. We only have a Taco Bell and a Jack-In-The-Box as our fast food choices. You are lucky to get someone who speaks ENGLISH to help you when you go there.
Oh yeah - They also make the phrase "fast food" a lie. Good grief...at JITB we waited 15 minutes for 3 basic burgers, 3 fries and a kid meal. Why? They don't speak ENGLISH.

The kids should sue and force all of the businesses to prove they did all they could to ensure the workers were legal.

The point is that many African American kids from poor families are largely impacted by illegal aliens taking service jobs they should be doing, but their "leaders" are mostly silent on this issue.
Why isn't Jessie Jackson out in front of one of these businesses?

Yup. When my daughter was 15 she was hired at the local McDonald’s specifically because she was the only employee who could speak good clear English, and the management thought it would be nice to have someone for English-speaking customers. But most of the clientele was Spanish and didn’t want to deal with her. She found the harassment, sexual and otherwise, from the Spanish too much to endure and left after about six months.

My #2 son went through the same problem in Mira Mesa (northern San Diego) when he was in high school. As a white male he faced two problems. Most of the fast food places were "owned" by management that preferred Asian teens. The others insisted on bilingual (English/Spanish) skills. He learned Spanish and developed a great rapport with his Asian friends at school by tutoring the AP classes and conducting study sessions at night. Good references make a difference in overcoming obstacles.
While bilingual skills are a good thing, it is NOT good when all the employees speak only Spanish in an English speaking country. I've encountered that problem at a McDonald's in Greenwood Village (south of Denver). English speaking customers were reduced to pointing at a pictorial menu on the ordering counter and holding up fingers for the number wanted. Substitutions? Too bad. No accommodation for that.

Black Teens Feel the 'Bilingual Preferred' Summer Job Blues
It's sad that these kids have to pay for the actions of their parents.
I.e., the ever-faithful monolithic Democratic voting by the black community.
They delivered for decades, voting for Democrats that pimped for
illegal immigration.
So much so that even some Republicans decided they needed to
follow the Democrats in pandering to illegals.
To bad nobody will explain to these kids that their parents'
"actions have consequences".

This is America. There should be no reason for anyone denied a job for speaking only English.
I’ve never heard a better reason for English being our one and only official language.

I was at Carls Jr. in Reseda, Ca. trying to find out if you can drink their new shakes with a straw or do you need a spoon. The employee gave up trying to communicate with me and went to get the stupervisor. The two guys standing behind me got a kick out of this and one of them told me that he had applied for a job there and was told that since he didnt speak Spanish he couldnt get a job.

I decided to take a vacation in Costa Rica and flew out of Miama for San Jose. My seat mate was a middle aged man who worked at the Miami YMCA. He was going to Costa Rica to take an immersion course in Spanish; he needed it on his job. That, incidentally, was thirty years ago.

Also, their parents did not do them any favors for any serious future by naming them Jazanique, Ashanae, and Kimyen.
