Obama Needs a History Lesson (Excellent read!)
realclearpolitics.com ^ | May 09, 2008 | Jack Kelly

In his victory speech after the North Carolina primary, Sen. Barack Obama said something that is all the more remarkable for how little it has been remarked upon.

In defending his stated intent to meet with America's enemies without preconditions, Sen. Obama said: "I trust the American people to understand that it is not weakness, but wisdom to talk not just to our friends, but to our enemies, like Roosevelt did, and Kennedy did, and Truman did."

That he made this statement, and that it passed without comment by the journalists covering his speech indicates either breathtaking ignorance of history on the part of both, or deceit.

I assume the Roosevelt to whom Sen. Obama referred is Franklin D. Roosevelt. Our enemies in World War II were Nazi Germany, headed by Adolf Hitler; fascist Italy, headed by Benito Mussolini, and militarist Japan, headed by Hideki Tojo. FDR talked directly with none of them before the outbreak of hostilities, and his policy once war began was unconditional surrender.

FDR died before victory was achieved, and was succeeded by Harry Truman. Truman did not modify the policy of unconditional surrender. He ended that war not with negotiation, but with the atomic bomb.

Harry Truman also was president when North Korea invaded South Korea in June, 1950. President Truman's response was not to call up North Korean dictator Kim Il Sung for a chat. It was to send troops.

"Were it not for Churchill, they would all have grown up speaking German..."

Exactly! And none of them are thankful!

"I was in contact with Churchill's grandson - a member of Parliament - who emailed me with this included; " It is always a source of immense satisfaction that so many of your fellow countrymen cherish his memory and I can assure you that we, his family, are deeply grateful."

I was born 15 years after his "finest hour" speech, but everytime I hear one of his speeches played on TV, I cheer! Churchill was the only European politician with the spine and balls to stand up and spit in Hitler's eye. If he hadn't done so, we all might be speaking German, as FDR at the time couldn't move the isolationist public and Congress to see the danger Hitler (and Tojo) were to the world. No, Churchill was not perfect. But I cherish and bless his memory.

What he needs more is an economics lesson.

Whether he needs one or not, he says what he believes will endear him to the sheeple. Certainly, when it comes to economics, too many Americans are naive and/or clueless.

Given the number of so-called conservatives helping us along the journey toward The Great Society, it's apparent that the entire political spectrum is shifting leftward. What used to be termed "moderate" now passes for "conservative"; yesterday's abject socialism is well on the way to becoming mainstream liberalism (see Obama).

The economics lesson will be a hard one not only for those who so desperately need it, but also for any caught in their wake.

“it passed without comment by the journalists covering his speech “

Reality, Barry Obama is an old school Chicago politician and mouth piece of the far left Democrat Party. He is the left-winged messiah the socialist have been hoping for - those on the left hoping for change - that is.

The media are so in love with himthey can't question his words.

“This is going to be a tough election”

I don't think so.
No levelheaded American is going to go into the voting booth on 11/4 and vote for an anti-American racist.
Now remember I said “levelheaded” which eliminates the Lefties & those who depend on government welfare. LOL

"The guy is clueless, and on every economic issue he drops back to his default Marxist position." Just leave it at "he's clueless".

Obama is not clueless. He has a very specific anti-American agenda. It's no accident he embraced Jeremiah Wright's Black Liberation "church". Or that he's 'friendy' with the communist revolutionary/terrorist, Bill Ayers.

The Real Story Behind Rev. Wright's Controversial Black Liberation Theology Doctrine
Monday , May 5, 2008
FoxNews/Hannity's America
[special Friday night edition--original airdate May 2, 2008]

(some key excerpts)

REV. BOB SCHENCK, NATIONAL CLERGY COUNCIL: "it's based in Marxism. At the core of his [Wright's] theology is really an anti-Christian understanding of God, and as part of a long history of individuals who actually advocate using violence in overthrowing those they perceive to be oppressing them, even acts of murder have been defended by followers of liberation theology. That's very, very dangerous."

SCHENCK: "I was actually the only person escorted to Dr. Wright. He asked to see me, and I simply welcomed him to Washington, and then I said Dr. Wright, I want to bring you a warning: your embrace of Marxist liberation theology. It is contrary to the Gospel, and you need, sir, to abandon it. And at that he dropped the handshake and made it clear that he was not in the mood to dialogue on that point."

JOSE DIAZ-BALART, TELEMUNDO NETWORK: "Liberation theology in Nicaragua in the mid-1980's was a pro-Sandinista, pro-Marxist, anti-U.S., anti-Catholic Church movement. That's it. No ifs, ands, or buts. His church apparently supported, in the mid-'80s in Nicaragua, groups that supported the Sandinista dictatorships and that were opposed to the Contras whose reason for being was calling for elections. That's all I know. I was there.

. I saw the churches in Nicaragua that he spoke of, and the churches were churches that talked about the need for violent revolution and I remember clearly one of the major churches in Managua where the Jesus Christ on the altar was not Jesus Christ, he was a Sandinista soldier, and the priests talked about the corruption of the West, talked about the need for revolution everywhere, and talked about 'the evil empire' which was the United States of America."

Bill Ayers, TODAY, April 6, 2008, from his own red communist star-headed website, begging to debate communism vs capitalism with Sean Hannity! Yet Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh and nearly every other conservative commentator FAILS to mention that these people were and still are revolutionary communists. Instead, they describe them as simply "domestic terrorists". Seems nearly everyone these days is afraid to use the 'C' word! Even in this extremely rare case where one of them actually admits it.

Bill Ayers, April 6, 2008:
"Imperialism. I’m against it, and if Sean Hannity and others were honest, this is the ground they would fight me on. Capitalism played its role historically and is exhausted as a force for progress: built on exploitation, theft, conquest, war, and racism, capitalism and imperialism must be defeated and a world revolution—a revolution against war and racism and materialism, a revolution based on human solidarity and love, cooperation and the common good —must win.

We begin by releasing our most hopeful dreams and our most radical imaginations: a better world is both possible and necessary.

Source: http://billayers.wordpress.com/2008/04/

Note: Ayers is very likely quoting Bob Avakian, chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party, with the phrase 'both possible and necessary' in regards to a communist overthrow of the US government. See these Yahoo search results for "bob avakian" + "possible and necessary"--Eye On The Left

"In July 1969, Bernardine Dohrn [Ayers' co-terrorist wife], Eleanor Raskin, Dianne Donghi, Peter Clapp, David Millstone and Diana Oughton, all representing 'Weatherman', as Dohrn's faction was now called, traveled to Cuba and met with representatives of the North Vietnamese and Cuban governments."

From David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
"FBI files from 1976, recently made public under the Freedom of Information Act, confirm the connections between Weatherman, Havana, and Moscow. Weatherman leaders like Mark Rudd traveled illegally to Havana in 1968 to engage in terrorist training. There, camps set up by Soviet KGB Colonel Vadim Kotchergine were educating Westerners both in Marxist philosophy and urban warfare."

he may win the Primary but as I’ve said before no levelheaded American will go into the voting booth on 11/4 and vote for an anti-American racist.

That’s OK. There are plenty of un-level headed anti-American racists that will vote for an anti-American racist. Pray for our nation.

Actually, that was George Santayana.

True. But we have an enormous number of Americans either not getting the news they need to know and/or too dumb to understand it even when they do get it.

George Santayana. But, this is a huge column by Kelly. Dem liberals never seem to remember history because they never apologize for their huge domestic and foreign policy issues such as the Great Society, tax hikes, appeasement, and cut and runners against America’s enemies. I have been teaching history for 47 years and have never found a liberal in a class who even remembers their stands against America on almost every foreign policy endeavor or war that we have been in at least since the days of FDR. Even Truman, JFK and LBJ who tried war, were undermined by their own voters, Party and the media. They have been socialist pacifists for two generations now.

“I just can’t see Obama getting elected...”

You just can’t win an election in this country by appealing blacks, college kids, and swells looking to buy racial indulgences.

He’s toast.

Two excellent quotes from our great first President, George Washington.

I do not believe Obama cares much for our founding fathers.

He says whatever he thinks will make people “feel” good - no real substance.

I am so perplexed that people don’t have a gut reaction to this guy that he is a fraud.

“I am so perplexed that people don’t have a gut reaction to this guy that he is a fraud.”

not to worry, after he becomes the ‘Rat candidate;
the 527’s will inundate the airwaves with so much of the Wright/Obama connection that Obama won’t know where to hide. Before this is over, Obama will wish he NEVER even considered running for POTUS! LOL

Most folks don’t pay any attention to elections until after Labor Day anyway...

I think you’re slightly confused.

The main enemy now is Islam, and on Kosovo, the Russians are, bizarrely, on the side of American interests, while NATO, the US State Department and Bush admininstration (and before them the Clinton administration), are on the side of our enemies.

Russia now has private property, a flat income tax, and religious education in its public schools. Doesn’t sound like they’re following Marx or Lenin’s playbook any more. Until America’s wrong-headed policies in the Balkans are reversed, we have made Russia our enemy, and lost the support of the people in the whole Orthodox Christian world, even if their governments are still pro-NATO (Greeks, Romanians, Russians and Bulgarians all joined the Serb army during the war in Kosovo).

The ChiComs (now actually fascist, rather than really communist) are still a danger, but that’s the next war, and if we stop being a**es toward Russia, one in which Russia could be turned into an ally, rather than an enemy.

Wright/Obama will wear thin by Nov. The 527’s better pick up on O’s connections with William Ayers and Dorothy Tillman (3rd Ward Assemblyman, that Obama endorsed), and hit the airwaves with those, as well.

“The question is, how many levelheaded voters will actually turn out for a complete RINO?”

Enough...LOL

Since Reagan, there have been enough Independents and Reagan Democrats to elect an “R” every time except for the two times Clinton ran.

What we need for the foreseeable future is for more conservatives to “step up to the plate” and run for local, state and federal offices.
We just need more conservative governors so that we have a better field to choose from for POTUS.
And we all need to encourage, support & campaign for those conservatives if we are ever going to turn this whole mess around!
