Matthews Rips Guest For Ignorance of History, Then Claims Cole Attack Happened Under Bush
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

A Hardball epic . . .

Message to Chris Matthews: when ripping a guest for his lack of historical knowledge, try to avoid making a history mistake of your own in the same segment.

It happened on this afternoon's Hardball. After lambasting a guest for not knowing his Neville Chamberlain history, Matthews surmised that the attack on the USS Cole in October, 2000 happened under . . . President Bush.

To give him credit he did say after that “he did not know what he was talking about”. James, OTOH came off as an idiot.

A Matthews-Specter Senate campaign will be a triumph for the mentally challenged.

With the hysterical way the lefties are playing the President's remarks, we all know it hit a nerve. I heard the applause in the Knesset. Israeli's know the President is right.

Lefties are even saying that President Reagan met and signed a nuclear treaty with the USSR! I thought the big thing about that meeting was that President Reagan walked out of the meeting. No deal with liars.

President Bush's statement hit a big nerve for sure. I even heard the local radio, NY social and entertainment guru, who is a lefty, Joan Hamburg, start her show with how what President Bush said was "Dirty politics...like the Republicans do..." I had just had it on after the John Gambling show. And I shut it right off.

I can't stand Imus and our local AM 74 music had one of there infomercials on while I was doing laundry until 9:30. Now I'm back to Curtis on WABC I am so grateful for your monitoring the craziness on the TV and other media.

I believe an Obama Presidency may bring back "Camelot" along with the incompetence that brought about the Cuban Missile Crisis. The media never wants to point out, that the Cuban Missile Crisis was the result of Kennedy's inexperience. And we'll never know, how Kennedy's faculties were affected by his tranquilizer and narcotic use.

Why doesn't the media focus on the latest OBL spin? "9/11 was caused by the Palestinians not getting Israelis driven into the sea yet." The evolution of OBL's statements is startling. It show's Al-Q is on the ropes for support. That's news.

Have you noticed that the crawls on the bottom of Fox etc. now spell OBL U-s-a-m-a Bin Laden. We don't want to confuse Osama with Obama, right?

No sale. Everybody with a clue knows that the Cole attack happened under Clinton, as did the first WTC bombing that blew a 30’ crater in the parking garage. Somebody who has been doing his own political talk show for a decade should know this stuff by rote even in a drug-addled, drunken stupor.

It must take every bit of strength he has to keep his knuckles from dragging on the ground.

Man, I watched it, and it was horribly embarrassing. Kevin James had to feel like an idiot.

Feel like an idiot? The guy is an idiot. If you don't know that Neville Chamberlain appeased Hitler not by talking to him, but by giving him part of Czechoslovakia . . . oy vey.

Still does not take away from the fact that James looked and acted like a total moron.

I don't have cable TV, so I've never seen Chris Matthews. In fact, the only time I even tried to watch MSNBC (from somebody else's house) was during the three-month period when Michael Savage was on it. What I know about Matthews comes mainly from quotes like this one, which I got from RightWingNews.com:

"There are a lot of unfathomable mysteries in life. Like, what the hell is wrong with Britney Spears, does Paris Hilton's IQ reach into triple digits, and perhaps most importantly, how does Chris Matthews’ show Hardball stay on the air?

Liberals don't like him. Conservatives hold him in contempt. Hardball not only gets bad ratings, the show has been around for a decade, so it isn't like it’s just about to mature into a real hit.

So how does Chris Matthews keep his job and does it involve his being the biggest suck-up in the television news business or does it have more to do with his possession of embarrassing pictures of an MSNBC executive at a Tijuana whorehouse? It's another one of those "unfathomable mysteries"..."

So can somebody tell me the real reason why Matthews has a program? Because MSNBC's ratings are usually in the tank, I don't think he has an audience.

Weird coincidence, huh? ;') MSNBC isn't about ratings, it's about agenda and axegrinding. That wouldn't work with anything but a cable station. CNN has been similarly corrupted. The best course of action is a boycotting campaign to force cable systems to drop both of them.
