Texas Megachurch Minister Drives 200 Miles to Have Sex With 13-Year-Old Girl
Short News ^ | 5.17.08

Texas: Plano man Joe Barron, 52, a minister at Prestonwood Baptist Church near Dallas, was arrested after driving nearly 200 miles to Bryan to meet who he thought was a 13-year-old girl he had been chatting with sexually online for roughly two weeks.

The girl was actually an undercover agent leading police to Barron and his car, inside of which they found condoms and a web-cam. He had been with the 26,000-member church for 18 months; they said this was the first incident of this type with Barron.

Executive pastor Mike Buster said, "We are disturbed and saddened by the reports we have heard and we are praying for the Barron family," adding that they are giving police their full cooperation. He is currently out on bond from Brazos County Jail.

Gee, this guy could have simply followed the lead of the late great Martin Luther King, Jr. and just had affairs with the women of all ages in his congregation...

Or the sodomites in the Catholic seminaries, preying on the altar boys.

Bottom line is that perverts are attracted to the clerical hierarchies in all of these churches.

Keep your children away from them.

And in all seriousness, any red-blooded American father ought to be able to spot these perverts a mile away.

You don't need much more than about five seconds of body language out of them to know who they are.

The big problem is all the kids being raised by single Moms who [for whatever reason] don't seem to be able to recognize the perverts who are preying on their children.

It’s a liberal, modern church

It's certainly modern, and it's certainly not liberal. It's affiliated with the conservative Southern Baptists of Texas (http://www.sbtexas.com/default.asp?action=congregations&cmd=filter&filter=P), not any of the Jimmy Carter type groups.

Every member of NAMBLA needs about 25 years of prison time to consider the error of their ways.

Okay, I remember Prestonwood from when we lived in Dallas. I called it “the God complex.” It’s bigger than a shopping mall and airport combined.

Every denomination has had these kinds of sick perverts in their clergy. People like you are parrots for the mainstream media who enjoy nothing better than bashing the Catholic church and all conservative Christians in general. In actual numbers, public schoolteachers have molested way more young children than clergy.

I read somewhere that there was a multi-million lawsuit concerning come pedofile. Then, in the same paper, was a reward offered for a murderer....$10,000.

Let me think about this for a minute....

It is not a liberal church by any means.
Show up tomorrow morning and tell them that and you would be sure to get an earful.

A "parrot"?

Look, you yourself admit that the perverts are there.

And yes, they're in the schools, they're in the libraries [have you visited the men's room at a public library recently?], they're in the locker rooms at the swimming pool [you can't even take a shower anymore they're so omnipresent], they infest the nursing staffs of the hospitals, etc etc etc.

The point is that a man [i.e. a child's father] is equipped to recognize the perverts for who they are.

But for whatever reason, women [either married, or single mothers] don't seem to be able to recognize perverts.

“In actual numbers, public schoolteachers have molested way more young children than clergy.”

You do have the studies and statistics to back that one up, right?

If Baptist Megachurch pastors were allowed to marry, this would never happen.

Who the heck is “Executive Pastor Mike Buster”?????????

Most likely supervises the non-ministerial staff emplotees under the direction of a board of Elders or some other such leadership.

I feel sorry for his family, also, if he has one - I’m pretty sure they knew nothing about his proclivities. And just at the time when they need their church family the most, they might be ostracized for the sins of the father.

I pray that there will be someplace where his family can find healing and help in this difficult time; I also pray that anyone else who has been victimized by him may also find the help they need...

I would guess the Senior Pastor will address this matter openly and tell the congregation that this guy has disqualified himself from the ministry, and basically fire him.
