America's most miserable cities (Guess who is No. 1? Hint: It's Kwame's Town)

Imagine living in a city with the country's highest violent-crime rate and second-highest unemployment rate. As an added kicker, you need more Superfund dollars allocated to your city to clean up toxic-waste sites than just about any other metropolitan area.

So why are you here? Seriously. If the ideal is out in CA, why did you come here? And frankly, I hope you are a woman because whining about the weather isn’t manly.

Well, if that’s your only indicator, you are dead on.

Are you serious? Whining? How about stating a plain, simple and obvious fact!

As for how I got here it was a transfer. As for your assault on my manhood, get a grip!

Impossible. These cities are awash in diversity, which we have been told for years is our strength.

So what Forbes must have meant is ‘strongest cities in America’.

Misery is strength... or something.. I need a strong drink.

If you think the real estate is better in CA than it is here, good luck to you. And yes, I am calling you out on the whole, whaaaaa, it’s kind of cold here thing. God, even my kids, who are girls, don’t complain like that. And guess what? None of our families have left here over the span of the century for warmer weather. This is Michigan, not the Arctic Circle. Just how fragile are you? And by the way, your manicure needs re-touching.

"I need a strong drink."

I'm having Vodka as I type. 'Diversity' means submission to a double standard of conduct all too often and the hypocrisy of the mandate can certainly drive one to drink.

Well, if that’s your only indicator,

It is my only indicator, and the only thing outside my control. Everything else (stay in a great neighborhood, choose private or home schools, avoid undesirable areas, etc.)

The only other thing is taxes, but that is a minor inconvenience compared to schools or weather.

The taxes are far less here than they are out west or even the east coast.

True, but the biggest problem is federal taxes. The state income taxes are deductible, so their impact is a little blunted when all is said and done. Property and sales taxes are high everywhere.

Another important factor is the coast. You can't beat the seashore here out west.

I was born and raised in Deetroit. I left there in 1976 and the population was about 1.5 million. 32 years later the population is 1/2 that.

Owing to dysgenic fertility, this is America's future:

The Fabulous Ruins of Detroit

If any of you care about the despair which your loved ones will have to suffer, then I cannot urge you strongly enough to spend an afternoon reading and contemplating all the stories documented therein.

Hmm.

The list indicates that all but one of the top ten miserable cities are in blue states, corrections welcome.

Yes, we also have nice blue sky days in the summer, not that hazy stuff. No earthquakes, fires, floods, or mudslides. We have maple trees in the fall, and if we are lucky, a white Christmas! What I found interesting from the listing is Detroit’s weather rating is much better than Flint’s.???

Lived in the west all of my life, travelled to the east a lot recently. I was amazed and shocked with what I saw in New Jersey and in other cities. Wretched turd world hell holes. All I could think of is this is all of America in 20 years. And how sad our founding fathers would be over whats become.

"Wretched turd world hell holes."

This is true. It is even more stark when you visit European, Australian and some Chinese Cities. They put any American City to shame.

Hong Kong kicks NYC's but on every measure of livability, modernity and luxury. Shanghai is already there and Beijing is coming on fast.. They also are usually one or two generations ahead of us with Cell Phones and ATM's.

We might be the world's largest consuming nation but I don't think we do as much with our infrastructure and level of living as that measure would suggest.

Someone ought to have a “drive-ability after dark” listing of cities. None of these have positive numbers for driving around after the sun goes down, but I would add Memphis and Birmingham to the list.

"go west"

Four cities in the top ten are in California. Do you mean stop before California?

"Wyoming"

The job prospects might not be good, but just for the sheer, spectacular beauty of the place, Wyoming is my favorite state to drive through.
