Barack Obama succumbed to Muslim demands.
It started at a campaign event that Obama held last Monday, at Detroits Joe Louis Arena. There have been very few news reports about this matter, but they all seem to point to a consistent turn of events.
Before the event kicked-off, a campaign staffer (who apparently was female and black, should anybody care) approached two young men in the crowd and asked if theyd like to sit up on the platform, and appear behind Obama while he was speaking from the podium.
As the two guys accepted the invitation, one of them asked the campaign staffer if he could bring his friends along. The staffer then began inquiring about the friends - - what do the friends look like, how are the friends dressed, and so forth. And when it became apparent that the friends were women with traditional, Muslim-looking head coverings, the staffer said no to the request.
According to one report, the staffer indicated that nobody wearing any kind of head covering would be permitted on the candidates platform - - no ball caps, no scarves, nothing.
Obama finally arrived at the arena and the event got underway. But after the fact, the two supposedly snubbed Muslim women unleashed a carefully orchestrated public relations campaign of indignation, and victimization.
Now lets get something straight: the careful screening of people who will appear within camera shot of a candidate or an elected official is standard practice. This is an especially crucial process in cases of presidents and presidential candidates. By our own cultural standards, it seems harsh to offer or deny opportunity to people based solely on their physical appearance. But the appearance of the people surrounding an elected official (or candidate) is almost as important as the appearance of the official himself, and they are both a part of the image, and therefore the message, that the official is trying to project.
Bill Clinton and George W. Bush have taken this kind of image making to new levels of sophistication. When President Clinton would deliver a speech from a podium to a general audience, there would almost always be both white people and black people visible behind him, even within the most narrow of camera shots. President Bush has followed this practice, expanding the image base to include overtly Hispanic, Native American Indian, and Asian-looking people in his midst.
And this is why, when Michelle Obama appeared at Carnegie Mellon University prior to the Pennsylvania Democratic Primary election last April, the campaign staffers made for certain that there were lots of white folks on the platform behind her. Hillary Clinton was walloping Barack Obama in the polls among white voters (she went on to wallop him among white voters in the election), and Team Obama needed to convey the image that, despite his being black, white voters still go for Barack.
And the Obama gang was doing its job last Monday in Detroit. That meant no women in Muslim-looking head gear on camera with the candidate. Why? For one thing, Obama is fighting the perception that he is, himself, a Muslim. Similarly, the imagery of Muslim-looking women and men symbolizes terrorism in the minds of many Americans. Obama cannot appear as though hes being friendly, or accommodating, with terrorists.
So two Muslim women were denied the privilege of appearing on camera with Obama, and they apparently went about pitching a fit. And right then and there, even as Obama was delivering his speech at Joe Louis Arena Monday - - Sharif Aref , the brother of Hebba Aref, one of the snubbed Muslim women, was speaking on microphone to reporters, delivering a well-crafted message about the incident that boiled-down to three parts: A) This incident is out of character for Obama, because he has run on a platform of uniting all Americans; B) This incident has happened because Obama is trying to dispel the myth that he is a Muslim and, therefore, is distancing himself from Muslims; and C) We (whoever We might include) still support Obama, but he needs to apologize to us.
After Mondays event, the news spread among Americas Muslim activists, and by Thursday, Obama had personally telephoned both women, Hebba Aref and Shimaa Abdelfadeel, and apologized. On Friday, Hebba Aref told the Detroit Free Press that she had accepted Obamas apology, and that she was looking forward to sitting on stage with him at a future event.
But what exactly was Obama apologizing for? And who are these people - - the Muslim activists - - who believe that they are entitled to appear on stage with a presidential candidate?
This incident gives every appearance of having been a set-up: The women dressed so as to overtly appear Muslim; they got denied the right to appear with Obama; and then they became outraged and started demanding things from Obama.
The worst part of this is that Obama acquiesced, and offered his apology when he had done nothing wrong.
The next U.S. President will face untold challenges and set-ups from Muslims, both domestically and abroad. If candidate Obama is so willing to meet Muslim demands in a situation as absurd as this one, how quick would President Obama be to meet Muslim demands when the stakes are higher?
Shimaa Abdelfadeel, the other woman allegedly excluded by the Obama campaign, was chair of SAFE, a University of Michigan-Ann Arbor group that hosted the 2002 Divestment Conference against Israel at which "Annihilate the Jews!" was chanted and Islamic Jihad founder Sami Al-Arian was keynote speaker. She's the author of vehement anti-Israel propaganda.
—OH, goodie. More campaign fun! watch him snark his way out of this one.......
Both of these people sound like they are part of Senator Obamaâs base. too bad the Senator’s staff was not more sensitive to the multi-cultural diversity involved here.
Yes, he will get his way out of this one just like he gets out of everything. Teflon coating and a press too afraid to criticize him for fear of being called racist.
All orchestrated to show that B. HUSSEIN isn’t sympathetic to Muslims. He wasn’t snubbing them. He was pretending to snub them to reassure the common folk that he’s not a closet Muslim.
And now it begins ... no doubt he’ll play the a)race card b) the religion card or c)I’m a patriot too card.
I guess security let this guy slip through.
Too late with this one he’s already played the race card.
I think you forgot your sarcasm alert.
HA! Muzzies playing the “racea” or “religion card”. Turnabout is fair play.
Obama Reassures Muslim Supporters
Presidential contender Senator Obama moved quickly to reassure his Muslim supporters that the apparent discrimination that occurred at two of his speeches in Michigan was merely cosmetic and should not be taken as a sign that I do not appreciate the value of their support.
The charges of discrimination were leveled by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) after Obama campaign workers barred two Muslim women from sitting behind the podium because they did not want the women’s headscarves to be seen in photographs or on television. The women were reportedly told they couldnt sit behind the podium unless they removed their scarves.
ADC President Mary Rose Oakar and ADC National Executive Director Kareem Shora called the incident disturbing. The wearing of the hijab is a symbol of feminine modesty and religious piety, Shora declared. We should be working toward a world where all women are as pure and devout as Muslim women, not shunting these exemplars off into the shadows.
Senator Obama avowed that he understood their concern, but asked that they please be patient. There will be a proper time and place for such displays after I am president. Right now, it is important that we exercise restraint lest we convey an impression that might strike an alien and unpleasant chord with the American voter.
I think the race card he played was the race card on McCain saying he’d play the race card if the race card was played ... or something like that ...
Ironically, Al Quaeda means “the base”.
So, if the shoe bomb fits.....
Don't worry Hebba, Barack won't go back to Detroit after this....... imagine what would happen if 500 women dressed in Muslim head gear request to be seated behind him?!? Ain't gonna happen.
He better not alienate his BASE. But if he does, I don’t really care.
Yeah, right...it may be the Cabin in the Sky...what
good is racism if it isn’t exposed like the Whitey
victims...(me- white?)..it’s a long raod, gang?? JK
He doesn’t have to. We have the I hate McCain bunch here on Free Republic that is going to ensure that Obama gets a free pass to the White House.
‘please be patient. There will be a proper time and place for such displays after I am president. Right now, it is important that we exercise restraint lest we convey an impression that might strike an alien and unpleasant chord with the American voter.’
Translation: “When I become president, the White House will be open to everyone, especially Muslim women wearing face and head covers. For now, though, let’s try not to do anything drastic that might alienate my white supporters.”
Rhetorical question, I assume. We can pretty much guess what will happen.
From Obama’s book “Audacity of Hope” in his own words:
“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
“All orchestrated to show that B. HUSSEIN isnt sympathetic to Muslims. He wasnt snubbing them. He was pretending to snub them to reassure the common folk that hes not a closet Muslim.”
You got it. Exactly!
A bunch of women ought to get dressed up in bee-keeper suits and pop into his photo-ops. LOL
(don’t know what you call that garb where they are all covered but slits for the eyes)
Yep. You’re right. They just can’t see that NOT voting for McCain will put this thing in the White House.
Now that I think about it, Obama is leaving himself open for all kinds of attacks against him at future events! His audience is full of kooks and I can see many of them making a fuss, just like these Muslim women, over not being able to be seated behind him.
He just opened up a can of worms by folding to these women. IMO

You mean “It will be open to all my Muslim radicals and Muslim supporters and employees from Nation of Islam.
From Obamas book Audacity of Hope in his own words:
I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

Quote from Barack Obama’s book, Dreams Of My Father:
“The person who made me proudest of all, though, was [half brother] Roy .. He converted to Islam.”
From ‘Dreams of my Father’, “In Indonesia, I had spent two years at a Muslim school”
“I studied the Koran..”
From ‘Audacity of Hope: “Lolo (Obama’s step father) followed a brand of Islam ....”I looked to Lolo for guidance”.
From ‘The Audacity Of Hope, “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
From The Audacity Of Hope, “We are no longer just a Christian nation,” “We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.”
bump and thanks for the links. There is no doubt our country would be a great risk if we allow Obama anywhere near the White House!
/All orchestrated to show that B. HUSSEIN isnt sympathetic to Muslims. He wasnt snubbing them. He was pretending to snub them to reassure the common folk that hes not a closet Muslim./
I bet you could be right...
I like the tag, now starting, Bambi Obama!
There is no doubt our country would be a great risk if we allow Obama anywhere near the White House!
But those women aren’t wearing hijab, they’re wearing niqab.
So how come I've seen some women wearing the hijab with skintight jeans?
No one will ever convince me that he is not Muslim. Also, his getting into the position he is in may have been planned for years. Muslims do not rush things.
The Muzzie that dares not show his turban!
