Even in an age when cynical sleuths can hyper-analyze stories for truth and accuracy, the occasional hoax still slips through the cracks. Such was the case with a so-called "lost Amazon tribe."

“The photographer and the agency that released the pictures wanted to make it seem like they were members of a lost tribe in order to call attention to the dangers the logging industry may have on the group.”

Logging??? I thought it was the Nokia cellphones near their huts that gave them away.

I knew it, knew it, knew it. I have to gloat since I’m not right about a whole lot of other stuff! Hahahahaha. I told my wife when I first saw the story and pictures that it was a hoax. Just had a feeling about it.

When this was posted in FR, I said it was a hoax = a "lost tribe" would need a lot more than a clearing the size of my yard and a few huts, to maintain a population for the centuries a 'lost' civilization would require.
I was castigated by Freepers...
Just been waiting for the confirmation...

I'm puzzled, because I read the original stories, and this article is pretty much the same story as the originals, with a few more details.
Even in the original "hoax" story, I got the impression that the group was known already, and that the photographer had been looking for them knowing they were in the area, , that they had not been contacted, and that the intent of the photographer was to influence loggers in the area to give them their territory. What, exactly, is the hoax?
To: Lusis
The truth can be found, but credibility is lost forever.

No, not “Lootin’ Louie.” Tourist Guy. Remember him? The bespectacled, stocking-hatted schlub who showed up in every picture posted on the internet for a year or two?
