Last month, my dad was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). The tumor was about the size of a golf ball. Last week, he found out that it was the papillary type (10-15% of kidney cancer) and that it had spread a bit into his lungs and a rib. They called them "flakes" so I guess it's not as bad as it could be. But still ... this is not what we were hoping for. Apparently, this type is harder to treat than the more common type (clear cell).
He has begun chemo treatments to clear the lungs and rib. After 4 weeks, M. D. Anderson will take another look and decide what to do next.
Please pray for healing and that he'll put those darn cigarettes away permanently.

He's definitely in good hands there. It's a 6 hour drive for him, but it's worth it.
Another ray of hope ... he has a friend that had this (stage 4, clear cell type) with a soccer ball sized tumor, spread to brain, lungs, spine, ribs. He's now cancer free. A great bit of encouragement for Dad.

I will keep your family in my prayers. My husband had renal cell carcinoma, had one kidney removed and went through chemo (and quit smoking) and has not had a reoccurence for over 10 years now. So there is definitely hope, keep the faith that the Lord will heal him, a positive attitude really does work miracles.

Definitely keep pushing him to put the smokes away for good, ASAP! It took my Dad having two back to back strokes to convince him to quit.

Seems those cigs have some element in them that causes cancer in areas of the body other than the typical lung cancer.

My pal Doc had a similar diagnoses and he is up around and doing fine today the Prayers made the difference. In my own personal experience (many including Doc have confirmed it) I could actually feel the Prayers coming in as waves of peace like they were washing over me.
May I ask your Dad’s name? I’ll have him in my prayers too, and will zoom in on those cigarettes, also.
