Both FR and DU will get overloaded and go down this morning no matter which way the decision goes...

I don't think FR will go down. I DO think it will be hard to get IN...

There's a lot of us FR junkies here... completely and totally hooked.

Thanks, Jim

So far, so good. Not sure what the deal was yesterday.

The Intarwebs can get cranky on occasion.

Applying Justice Kennedy’s “evolving standards” test, and Alito’s exposing that the “evolving standard” Kennedy saw was really a standard that was engineered by outside interference, it is clear that the DC gun ban will be upheld.

It has come so late in the term, that it will be controversial, so my take is that it will strike at the heart of the entire 2d amendment debate.

“Evolving standards” means liberalism, and Kennedy has fit nicely into Sanda Day’s girdle.

The problem is that if McCain is elected I think the best we are going to get are clones of Kennedy.

Pray for America.

Malcom Reynolds: "Define 'interesting'"

Wash: "'oh God, oh God! We're all gonna die'?"

Malcom: "This is the Captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then explode."

We’re all in our places, with bright shining faces . . .

Yeah. Exactly as we were, awaiting Kelo. Thinking surely the Court would not...

I agree with you completely. McCain has always been a compromiser in terms of judicial appointments.

I am seriously looking at the CP. I looked at the CP and discovered that they support open abortion. I had no idea.

A “liberty” party that believes in taking someone’s life without a thought is not very liberty oriented, imho.

>>>>>1. The rumor about Scalia writing the majority is true.

And the report of about 4 to 6 weeks ago that the attorney who argued the case for D0J had resigned his position.

CORRECTION: I looked at the LP (Libertarians) and discovered they support open abortion.

a government who’s more obsessed with making MORE laws on us (to make MORE money for THEM) than they are with actually in any way improving the life of the the average citizens in this country.

And the SAD thing about that is that it seems a majority of Americans agree with them and want it that way. For 65 years we fought off the Soviets, Red China, North Korea, Cuba, to keep from becoming socialists and communists. Now, it seems that we wasted our time doing that. Americans now days have been dumb down by the public schools, kids and adults want free stuff from Uncle Sammy and want free everything, do not care about God or religion, do not care about personal freedoms or religion.

I am sick to my stomach most days. I cannot believe that this country is about to elect a complete and utter idiot like Osama Obama to be our president and leader of the former free world. We are about to elect the most avid Marxist since Stalin and Castro took control. We are about to turn our Congress into a fully empowered Soviet machine. Even the so called republican candidate, a former POW of the communists, and a former military man, is not much better. These are the best America seems to have to offer these days. Former republicans are running from the party. You never hear about some of the republicans we used to think were the up and coming stars. JC Watts left congress and now says he is TORN about whether to vote for a Marxist like Obama, to keep with his race. Great choice JC. I will never support you for ANYTHING EVER again if you vote for Obama simply because he is black. If I told JC I were voting for Bush or McCain simply because they were white and Obama was black, JC and all other blacks would go ape s**t over it. But it is okay for blacks to all vote for the black guy. HELL, he is not even a full black guy. HE IS A half & half. But he does not recognize his white side. No, he is black, no white. Guess that is why he is not really black color, but caramel colored. Americans want to wash away all their sins of racism and slavery by just voting in the black guy and make their hearts feel better. At the same time they are going to give up their freedom.

I think I will get someone to stop the planet and I want to get off in 1776 so I can live in a time when it was a positive to want to be free and want to destroy the enemies of this Republic. Damn, I really hate over 50% of my fellow citizens. I consider them all to be enemies of the Republic and cowards.

Sixty years ago, who would have guessed that the SCOTUS would decide whether or not an American has the right to self-defense with a firearm.

You are certainly one who "get's it."

It's the long perspective that gives you that wisdom.

Day-to-day, poll-to-poll, Americans are blind to how far we've fallen from original intent.

Even today....the mere fact that this thread exists.....eagerly awaiting to be told what our God given rights actually are by an unelected oligarchy...

Whether Scalia or Ginsburg write the opinion, they're still writing a CONTROLLING opinion on our basic rights. Good or bad outcome, it's a sad day.

"Sorry guys. After the Guantanamo and Child Rapist decisions, I don’t have much confidence that a small thing like the 2nd Amendment will carry much weight with this court. I think gun owners lose this one."

"I’ll be pleased to be wrong on that."

The recent decisions have me worried as well. I am praying they get this one right.

CNN had their supposed legal scholars weighing in on Monday. They are leading to the 2nd amendment meaning a militia like the state police, not private citizens....ARGH....libs piss me off.

Well, I’ve been a long time lurker but I decided to finally come out of the shadows and post. Hopefully my first post will be in a thread that is an epic win for the constitution and the rights of American citizens.

HOPEFULLY!

What to Watch For in D.C. v. Heller
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2034110/posts

This is by far the pre-analysis of he case. It bears some study this morning.

I predict a 7-2 “win” that is a real disappointment.
I’d prefer a 5-4 that kicks some Constitutional a$$.
