Gov. Bobby Jindal is the target of the latest recall petition filed in the wake of legislative pay raises, the secretary of state’s office reported this afternoon.

Jindal has consistently said he won’t veto the more than doubling of legislators’ base pay approved during the just-ended regular legislative session – angering Louisiana residents. The pay jumps from $16,800 to $37,500 effective Tuesday, July 1.

Four legislators are already subject of petitions seeking recall petitions, including House Speaker Jim Tucker of Terrytown, and Reps. Franklin Foil of Baton Rouge, Stephen Pugh of Ponchatoula and Joe Lopinto of Metairie.

In Jindal’s case, it takes the signatures of one-third of the state’s voters to force a recall election. Recall organizers have 180 days to collect the valid signatures.

For more information, please visit the secretary of state’s Web site at http://www.sos.louisiana.gov/ or call 225-922-2880.

He screwed up big! Making deals (reaching across the aisle) to get his agenda through the La. Leg. No going back now.

Too bad about the pay raise, but it's asinine to attempt a recall over it when your state is facing far more important issues.

Perhaps Louisiana should adopt an amendment to the state constitution like the federal one has to prohibit pay raises from taking effect during the session it was approved in.

Looks like you are being used by Democrat sympathizers. All the people on that list are Republican.

Jndal won with 54% of the vote in a field of 4. Nobody who gets that level of endorsement from the people is going to be recalled.

Just curious: how often and how much does the Louisiana Legislature meet?

Unless they are rarely in session, that’s puny pay even with the increase.

No wonder Louisiana politicians are on the take.

Notice all those facing recall are Republicans.

They will stop at nothing.

After the raise, where does that place their salaries compared to other states?

I spent Mon and Tue of this past week in LA and had plenty of time to listen to local talk radio.

Prior to this, I had a pretty positive opinion of Jindal.

But, wow, was I surprised! Now methinks Jindal has done gone and screwed the pooch.

Apparently he’s not nearly as intelligent as I thought he was.

I posted this to you and all I have heard is crickets - "At any point during Blanco’s administration did you yourself pursue or push a recall of her? If so, please point to posts here at FR to validate."

Your silence and hypocrisy expose you and maybe your motives.

What did we say several months ago as soon as Jindal’s name was floated for VP and Rush started praising him; he was going to be targeted by the left. They are playing this perfectly. He hasn't even signed this darn bill yet and overall, has been one of the most Conservative governors, but the left has successfully pushed this one issue to the top and, because of this one issue, we have created a nice little circular firing squad for ourselves. Jeeze we are suckers.

I’ve been wondering when this would happen,,,

IIRC there are 5 more packets out there,,,

This could very well pass with the number of cross-over

voters in the last election,,,

Bobby better pull the trigger on that VETO,,,QUICK!!!

I think Tucker is gone,,,80% of the folks in his area

seem to want him out from what I saw on Chad’s site,,,

Channel 3 should have this on at 5:00...

That's what happens to politicians who won't listen to the public. And the GOP wonders why it has a damaged brand name. Go figure!

Just a warning to everyone, if you succeed in this silly little exercise, your new governor will be the Lieutenant Governor- and that would be good old Mitch Landrieu- who comes from one of the most corrupt and liberal families Louisiana has seen.
