um....didn’t John Kerry pretend to serve in Vietnam and then make that a major portion of his campaign?
Or is that campaign down the liberal memory hole too?

Mr. Webb is one to criticize. Good Lord, all we heard during his vaunted Senate Race against George “Macaca” Allen was “Born To Fight.” It was on all his posters and bumper stickers.
What an incredible phony.

"McCain Should 'Calm Down' on Using Military Service"
This coming from the biggest exploiter of his Military Service since John Kerry!

"Webb: McCain Should 'Calm Down' on Using Military Service" McCain and Obama are running for the position of Commander in Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces during a period of war! How about Obama speak up about his military service! LOL!

Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) waded into the debate over John McCain's military service Monday to say that the Republican should avoid using military service in politics. Yes, because Heaven knows the Democrats have never done that.

This is an amazing multifront attack on McCain. Weaselly Clark is saying that McCain's military service doesn't matter and now Webb is saying McCain should shut up about it and about being challenged on it.
Barack (silence upon his middle name) Obama's pollsters must see that he has a major weakness against McCain on the military service qualification, so they are trying their hardest to eliminate it early in the campaign.

"...He continued: "And John McCain's my long-time friend, if that is one area that I would ask him to calm down on, it`s that, don't be standing up and uttering your political views and implying that all the people in the military support them because they don't, any more than when the Democrats have political issues during the Vietnam War. Let's get the politics out of the military, take care of our military people, or have our political arguments in other areas."It probably makes no difference, but I cannot recall Senator McCain ever claiming his military service was the reason to vote for him for President. He, also, surely has not claimed all military people subscribe to McCain's views.
Basically, Webb was elected as a former Republican Secretary of Navy to Democrat Senate Seat on the basis of a few conservative principles and a large number of "macacca " reports by the Washington Post.
If Obama is thinking of him as VP, he would be better to go elsewhere. Eventually, this guy is loyal to only himself and what his current views are at the time.

Webb is little more than a bully. How dare McCain actually object to Clark’s abuse?
What steams me most about this Webb outburst is that it was gratuitious. No one asked him about the Wes Clark comment or McCain’s reaction to it. WEBB HAD JUST PLANNED, ALL ALONG, TO SAY IT so that he (Webb) would be more likely to be in the news.

Note the words "calm down." Very carefully chosen.
Wesley Clark's attack was specifically designed to elicit a public meltdown by John McCain, which the Obama camp planned to pounce on as proof that McCain is a hothead and temperamentally unfit to be President. He didn't take the bait. So today we hear "calm down" from Jim Webb, though McCain gave no indication he needs to calm down about anything.
Dems are desperate to smear McCain. This is not about trashing his military service, it is about trying to goad him into a "Howard Dean moment." So far he has wisely refused to cooperate.
