Red Dawn Returns (Wolverine Remake)
IGN UK ^ | July 9, 2008 | Chris Tilly

Posted on 07/11/2008 6:40:41 AM PDT by tlb

Hot-on-the-heels of news that Darren Aronofsky may be directing MGM's Robocop reboot, the studio has announced plans to remake another '80s feature in the shape of Red Dawn.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Red Eye scribe Carl Ellsworth will pen the script, which will update the story to modern day.

"The tone is going to be very intense, very much keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we're in," explains Ellsworth.

"As Red Dawn scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again?"

TRY GETTING UP TO SPEED

about the 4th ever secret meeting of the US House of Representatives . . . . info now leaking out about the info shared . . .

1. Utter financial collapse of US economy before the end of 2008.

2. Martial law to follow post haste

3. Round up & internment in the prepared camps of POTENTIAL trouble-makers against the gov.

4. Safe havens for Congress critters and families.

5. Big jump toward North American Union with Mexico and Canada.

I assume you haven’t read the quotes of our politica etc. leaders from 1900 on at post #76 here:

Nor listened to the Chaplain’s presentation at the link in my tagline.

Nor the likes of this telling dream—one of many dozens of similar dreams folks all over the world have had about the USA:

Search out the referenced sources at this ATS thread:

Tinfoil hat assaults are easy to toss around . . . particularly when folks haven’t done their homework.

Actually, now that I think about it, we’ve all seen a glimpse of a Red Dawn remake before.

It is a fine motion picture. I said at the time it should be shown in every American High School.

It’s funny how so many people here can already predict how Hollywood would remake this movie and come up with similar scenarios. Hollywood liberals are so predictable now.

And the truth is that Red Dawn didn't scare us as teenagers but it rallied us against a real threat.

The only people Red Dawn scared was the Soviets and the Communists in the Democrat Party who were afraid of a united USA.

I can’t see The Postman as a remake of Red Dawn.

It was a very original story with a very interesting premise (the whole “postman” thing).

I know it was looooong (three hours), but I sorta liked it.

Colt carbines on horsback.
Cool.

Heroes will be a white Muslim convert, and a black Nation of Islam guy who is also gay - and they will have a buddy relationship a la Lethal Weapon.

The token girl of the resistance will be Paris Hilton in an open-face burka, who smuggles the needed tasers under her voluminous garb.

The enemies will be a weird amalgamation of rural Christians and some Svengali like Wall Street guy who represents "corporate interests".

It will most likely flop.

They probably won’t allow the rebels in the remake to carry guns.

What you mean like this? No eye protection, no hearing protection, no four million square inches of international orange safety clothing and no Hunters Safety Education course certificate? Just kill the enemy any way you can and steal all his equipment and supplies? How hatful! The enemies self-esteem might be offended.

I bet in this version the bad guys will be the good guys.

No ... it'll be an inside job led by the evil Republican regime.

Yes, and you believe it is because they are conspiring with aliens, no?

If the US economy doesn't collapse before the end of 2008 will you admit that your “sources” are a bunch of kooks or will you have “access” to new top-secret info that they postponed it?

Why? You mean a couple high school kids with AKs couldn’t ambush and defeat the Soviet Army?

Think of the time, when the Soviet Army was too rigid and doctrinal for its own good. They were getting their butts kicked by small bands of goat herders in Afghanistan at the time because they couldn't adapt to the tactics.

I await this with fear, fear of a new propaganda film. The original Red Dawn was for sure a propaganda film, but it was anti-left, anti-liberal.

Wait and see, I guess, but in the Huck Finn movie Jim went free, and in Scarlet Letter Hester and the preacher split the town to set up a love shack somewhere.

I'm growing a long mustache.
