Like I’ve said before, we should make a deal with the Russians. They kill the Iranian nuke program, and we kill the European missile defense system.

The prpose of testing is for improvement.
Increasing range is not limited by any agreements.

“Oh, yeah, forgot, those are truths.”
You are incorrect.
A mere Patriot system could knock out those Iranian low altitude clunkers. Probably have some Patriots set up in Qatar for that purpose.
Star Wars, think “the stars”. Those bases in Czech and Poland are theorized to knock our reentry vehicle weapons from long range, ie, high altitude, missile flying over to London and Paris.
Such missiles and such warheads do not exist. Interestingly, does our government say where the Shahab-3 landed, and if it was really fired at all?
The real threat is to the Gulf Arab States. You don’t hear our government trying to set up SDI bases there.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said the results of Iran's missile tests prove that US plans for a defence shield in Europe are unnecessary.
What's Lavrov's view about the necessity for Russian sales of advanced fighters to Venezuela?

Maybe the russians know:
From Drudge:
IRAN MISSILE TEST BIG BLUFF: OLD ROCKETS, BOGUS VIDEO

RAN MISSILE TEST BIG BLUFF: OLD ROCKETS, BOGUS VIDEO
Fri Jul 11 2008 15:18:02 ET
Many of Iran's claims related to its missile tests appears to be smoke and mirrors, the NEW YORK TIMES is planning to report on Saturday.
The missiles tested did not have 2,000-kilometer range; it was an older missile that was out of production, newsroom srouces tell DRUDGE. A video showed what appeared to be many missiles being fired is actually one missile, filmed from different angles.
NYT's Bill Broad is planning to quote Pentagon officials and military insiders.

Sure... In any case, when they do "appear", then we immediately will install SDI stuff, won't we?
Like with this "premature" SDI installation in Europe, Did you uncover any more "Star War lies"?
At least, good to know that SDI works; it was getting kind of old to keep hearing protestations about that...

Liberal logic (when it comes to things that will strengthen the US):
If it can't solve everything at once, it isn't worth doing.
It doesn't matter if it is a missile defense system, drilling offshore, drilling in ANWR, opening up coal reserves, loosening firearm restrictions, allowing private (read: Christian) charities to aid the needy, etc.

Yes and we know for sure that the missiles launched were the longest ranged missiles in their arsenal and fueled to full capacity. They showed us what they wanted us to see. For all we know Russia told them to do this so they could make their claim that missile defense wasn't needed.

Venezuelan President Chavez to arrive in Russia July 22 - MOSCOW, July 10 (RIA Novosti) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said he will arrive in Russia on July 22 as part of a visit aimed at boosting bilateral relations, the Prensa Latina news agency said on Thursday. Speaking at a Socialist Party meeting in the state of Aragua, Chavez said during the visit he expected to meet Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and an agreement to set up a joint bank, as well as industrial and technological projects would be discussed. Chavez thanked Russia for their support, particularly in providing easy-term loans to help modernize the Venezuelan Army. He pledged to continue military and technical cooperation, including the purchase of military hardware, such as Russian Sukhoi aircraft and helicopters.
Chavez Visit to Focus on Arms Purchases - "We're going to continue to equip our armed forces, and we're going to continue to bring in Russian equipment," Chavez said during a speech at a campaign rally for this year's gubernatorial elections. "We're going to bring in some little war tanks."

Isn't it special - new argumentation approach against us investing in SDI seems to be the following: since enemy temporarily stumbled on its way to acquiring strategic missiles, we should permanently gut our defenses. I can hardly wait till the next brilliant idea presents itself...

The Russians are paranoid. How could putting a tracking system in the Czech Republic possibly be considered an offensive threat to them. They love to play games. What scares me is they for so long have invented crap that is absurd then fall into actually believing it. They continue to be about the most dangerous nation on the planet.

If it can't solve everything at once, it isn't worth doing. Except where it involves the "war on poverty." That hasn't produced anything but more misery for 40 years, and cost trillions. But we've got to keep trying.
