The Iron Timetable (WaPo not happy with Obama!)
The Washington Post ^ | 16 July 2008 | The Editors

Posted on 07/16/2008 5:43:09 AM PDT by SE Mom

BARACK OBAMA yesterday accused President Bush and Sen. John McCain of rigidity on Iraq: "They said we couldn't leave when violence was up, they say we can't leave when violence is down." Mr. Obama then confirmed his own foolish consistency. Early last year, when the war was at its peak, the Democratic candidate proposed a timetable for withdrawing all U.S. combat forces in slightly more than a year. Yesterday, with bloodshed at its lowest level since the war began, Mr. Obama endorsed the same plan. After hinting earlier this month that he might "refine" his Iraq strategy after visiting the country and listening to commanders, Mr. Obama appears to have decided that sticking to his arbitrary, 16-month timetable is more important than adjusting to the dramatic changes in Iraq.

Here’s the ZINGER:

~snip~

“What’s missing in our debate,” Mr. Obama said yesterday, “is a discussion of the strategic consequences of Iraq.” Indeed: The message that the Democrat sends is that he is ultimately indifferent to the war’s outcome — that Iraq “distracts us from every threat we face” and thus must be speedily evacuated regardless of the consequences. That’s an irrational and ahistorical way to view a country at the strategic center of the Middle East, with some of the world’s largest oil reserves. Whether or not the war was a mistake, Iraq’s future is a vital U.S. security interest. If he is elected president, Mr. Obama sooner or later will have to tailor his Iraq strategy to that reality.

Barack Obama looks and acts like a 12 year old, especially on foreign policy.

"dramatic changes"?

What are these "dramatic changes", Mr. WashPost?

We never hear about them...

He saw his poll numbers dropping and thought it was about his “iraq plan.” It wasn’t. It was about folks getting to know how ill-prepared he is to be in charge of of anything....he has no executive experience at all, and little of any kind of significant experience.

The Warshpost has its single biggest concentrated asset ~ it's printing plant ~ located within walking distance of several mosques, including the mosque where the alQaida 9/11 support team decamped in the period leading up to 9/11.

They are fearful of losing that plant to a casual jihad.

Obama will be sunk by his dramatic and incredibly significant investment in failure in Iraq. I just hope the republicans can hang this around the democrats neck as well. Not all democrats are as stupid as Obama, but they're close.

I would like for a reporter to ask Hussein.....” Senator, you have often mentioned bringing home brigades. For those of us not familiar with Army lingo, how many soldiers are in a brigade? What rank of officer is a brigade commander?”

WaPo has been talking about these dramatic changes for some time now. From the editorial page, no less.

Hah! If he doesn’t understand the role(s) of the Joint Chiefs (which he’s made clear he doesn’t) he surely hasn’t a clue about platoons, brigades and so forth:)

Obama won’t debate and won’t go on shows where he might be shown to be anything more than an empty suit.

He’s never had a major opponent, spent hardly any time in congress, and from what I can see has been propped up like a doll and marketed by the democrat liberal Chicago machine all his life. He’s voted “present” for any number of things. When questionaires have been found with his handwriting showing how he really feels, he’s tried to lie them away.

He’s lived most of his life filling the requirements for a liberal black constituency.

Now suddenly he’s found his positions seem to be looked at as “radical” for a presidential candidate, and the only reason he’s gotten the far is a lapdog press, panting and whining and covering for their extreme candidate. He’s spinning desperately trying to cover, and the MSM is doing their best to help him.

But this last flip, to not immediately, irrationally withdraw from the war, was too much for his moonloony netroots. He’s had to backtrack. He delivered the most nonsensical, flowery speech yesterday, trying to placate them.

The lib media is trying their best to cover for him. But even the WaPo is finding it hard.
