Activists Fear Opposite Party VP Picks [McCain/Lieberman '08?]
Politico via CBS News ^ | 2008-07-18 | David Paul Kuhn

That nervous laughter you hear is the sound of party activists responding to speculation that Barack Obama or John McCain might pick a vice presidential candidate from the opposing party.

More specifically, it is reaction to talk that Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel (Neb.) is being seriously considered as a running mate for Barack Obama or that Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (Conn.), an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, is a potential choice for John McCain.

Though it’s nothing more than unfounded conjecture at this point, top conservative and liberal activists nevertheless say that any cross-party selection of that kind would thrust the respective party conventions into turmoil.

The transformation to a de facto single party country is nigh. The partisan bickering is a mere bilking mechanism and distraction.

OH, so the name calling starts. Illustrate your intelligence, not your level of maturity. If you can’t debate them, insult them.

No contest. Any other response from you that fails to present a respectful tone or logical discussion to the respondent will not be acknowledged.

One would think, but even the MSM was reporting that Hagel is at the top of the list this morning as he travels with Obama.

OK bub.

You’re the one who said I was going to get my ears trimmed. That’s pretty much a challenge.

Now, you ... “change”.

How very, Obama of you.

Whaah.

“Hagel is pro-life and Lieberman is pro-abortion.”

Lieberman is a liberal on EVERYTHING but foreign policy.

Is this another McCain-bashing thread?

Since when is pointing out McCain's flaws "bashing"?

I have written off McCain and the Republican Party because the former is not conservative, and the conservative wing of the latter appears to be on life support. It's only a matter of time before the former pulls the plug on the latter.

Nice George Carlin skit.

Truth is, after all of Mitt Romney’s so-called “conservative” rhetoric during the GOP primary season, his life long support of liberal issues and liberal causes is what people remember most about his public record. These shifts in policy maybe fine for liberals like Obama, who have the MSM watching their backs and protecting them. Frankly, Romney is too big a liability for McCain to take a chance on.

Depending on who Obama picks, this Sarah Palin could be an intriguing choice. Especially with the oil-gas issue front and center, along with ANWR.

I’d rather see someone with solid conservative credentials like Gov Mark Sanford, or even Sen Tom Coburn running with McCain. Haley Barbour would be another good choice.

Would the Governor of Connecticut, RINO Jodi Rell, be allowed to appoint a Republican to Joe’s U.S. Senate seat, if a McCain/Lieberman Presidential ticket did win? If only Rell was a conservative instead of presently being another northeastern state RINO!

You didn’t answer the question.

To what end?

WHY ... are you complaining about McCain at this point?

What is it, you are trying to accomplish?

Do you want him to lose?

WHY ... are you complaining about McCain at this point?

Because folks in other states with earlier primaries decided on the nominee before my state's primary.

Because I refuse to get poked in the eye by a "maverick" Republican.

Because I refuse to support a left-wing Republican.

What is it, you are trying to accomplish?

There is no harm in pointing out the flaws of a left-wing Republican...unless you are the left-wing Republican or one of its supporters.

Do you want him to lose?

I want all leftists to lose. Infer from that what you will.

The time for all this, was during the primaries!!!

Now, it’s time to get with the program, and start pulling.

Pick up the rope, and please stop complaining.

What is it with you people?

You won’t be happy until Dems hold the WH and both houses of congress, just so you can say “I told you so”.

Told us what??

All you’re doing it obstruction, and defeatism.

The time for all this, was during the primaries!!!

Practically every candidate on the ballot in my state had dropped out by the time our turn came.

You won’t be happy until Dems hold the WH and both houses of congress, just so you can say “I told you so”.

I will not be party to a left-wing takeover of the White House and Congress, regardless of which party is "taking over."

All you’re doing it obstruction, and defeatism.

Bending over for McCain and the RINOs and giving my stamp of approval (vote) to their neo-Socialist agenda of carbon taxes, amnesty for illegals, rampant interventionist wars against other countries, higher Social Security taxes, bailouts for everyone but the taxpayer, continued "comprehensive" "compromise" with Socialists and left-wing Democrats, and Bigger Government...is admitting defeat. And that, sir, is not conservative at all.

You’re not the only one who was disappointed with the way things played out.

I wanted Duncan Hunter. He’d be an excellent VP.

If John McCain or anyone who works for him reads FR, and if standing up for him counts for anything ... HINT!! :)

Hagel is pro-life and Lieberman is pro-abortion.

Do you think that's one of the top 10 or even top 50 issues in a national race?

Maybe 25 years ago, but not these days. Especially for a vice-presidential choice.
