OBAMA TEAM BEGINS WORK ON PRESIDENTIAL TRANSITION
The Atlantic ^ | Thursday, July 24, 2008 | Marc Ambinder

Posted on 07/24/2008 7:00:09 AM PDT by kristinn

With less than six months to go before he would be sworn in as the nation’s 44th president, Sen. Barack Obama has directed his aides to begin planning for the transition.

"Barack is well aware of the complexity and the organizational challenge involved in the transition process and he has tasked s small group to begin thinking through the process,” a senior campaign adviser said. “Barack has made his expectations clear about what he wants from such a process, how he wants it to move forward, and the establishment and execution of his timeline is proceeding apace.”

Last month, the Post’s Chris Cillizza reported that campaign advisers were sounding out John Podesta, a former White House chief of staff to President Bill Clinton and currently the president of the Center for American Progress, for his advice.

An aide confirms that Podesta will probably be asked to head the transition team, which would take over from the campaign if Obama wins in November, and would be tasked with ensuring a smooth handover of power.

Podesta’s Center for American Progress is working with the Third Way think tank on a Homeland Security Presidential Transition Initiative; its director is Michael Signer, a former senior policy aide to Ex-Sen. John Edwards.

Cassandra Butts, a longtime Obama friend who is a CAP executive vice president, is working closely with Podesta.

Butts, via e-mail, would not confirm her participation in the project.

Podesta remains a close friend of both Clintons and his participation will help assuage the concerns of Clinton-era Democratic policy and political appointees who might have felt abandoned in an Obama administration.

Obama went overseas to promise the “people of the world” that he would end the divide between rich and poor nations, and said, “people of the world, this is our moment, this is our time.”

Obama is running for a hostile takeover of the US on behalf of the anti-American international community. His plan is quite plainly to rape and pillage America’s wealth, and redistribute it to the rest of the world. His speech was brazenly candid about this.

He has already put forth this very plan in the S.2433 Global Poverty Act of 2007, which he authored in the Senate.

When 3 year olds get quiet, parents better go looking to see what they’re getting into.

Politicians are not much different. That thought has occurred to me since she “retired” from the limelight. You know she’s cooking up something. That’s her nature.

I learned that lesson as a child. I always made some usual noises when I was doing something I shouldn't have been doing. My kids never learned that lesson.

Later I learned the Russian term for this, Маскировка (Maskirovka). It is a borrowed word from Russian meaning camouflage, concealment, deception, etc. all rolled into one very useful word.

If anything is going to happen at the Dem convention to derail the Obamassiah, look for a string of damaging stories to hit the news starting right after the Olympics and about a week before the convention. Hillary needs time to damage Obama but not leave enough time for the stories to be backtracked to her.

Count me among the stupid then, but I will gladly vote for the patriotic John McCain. To do otherwise will guarantee the presidency of Barack Hussein Obama. I would a thousand times rather see McCain win than Obama.

Uh, no... John McCain is not patriotic and has VOTED to destroy the foundations of the United States his entire political career.

To do otherwise will guarantee the presidency of Barack Hussein Obama. I would a thousand times rather see McCain win than Obama.

Personally, I would prefer to lose a battle than to lose the entire war. Hussein will be terrible, but he will not be a fatal blow. A McCain presidency dooms the conservative movement in the United States, probably forever.

It seems that McCain is always apologizing to Obama or praising him for something. When he DOES offer a bit of criticism, it is far too mild and ineffective.
Could it be that McCain/Republicans are waiting to be sure that Obama IS the candidate (and not Hillary stepping in at the last minute) before they hit him hard?
Somehow, I don’t have much faith in this.
They seem so crippled by PC, it seems they’d rather hand the presidency over to the Democrats than speak up with the truth.
I feel that McCain/Republicans will HAVE to hit Obama hard with facts like those that are contained in
‘The Obama File’, http://www.theobamafile.com/, to bring him down. Either this, or we are lost. If the ‘campaigning’ we have seen so far is IT, then we are lost.

I know how you feel. I keep waiting for McCain to actually start, you know, campaigning, but it isn’t happening. He continues to reaffirm my opinion that he is without a doubt one of the worst presidential candidates, of either party, in recent memory. Does he not realize that the damn election is less than three and a half months away already and that constantly praising and/or apologizing to his opponent only makes him look like a fool and certainly not presidential.
I am so disgusted with what is going on. I keep hoping that there is some way, some sort of loophole, that will allow another candidate like Romney, Giuliani, or Paul, or someone else, to get the official nomination at the convention because I just don’t see how we can win with The Invisible Man.
It’s almost as if McCain has been an incumbent senator for so long, and faced so few actual challenges to his office, that he doesn’t know how to campaign hard anymore. It’s not like he had to campaign very hard in the primaries since he basically won those by default.

Romney has already shown he is not afraid to go after the Clintons. The Obama’s are no less target-rich.

“After four years of the Messiah, the only guns you will be loving are the pictures of the guns you used to have.”

That is a mighty positive outlook for the future. First, I am not sure it will take 4 years to get to that point. Second, I am not sure we will be able to even keep pictures of guns.
