U.S. offshore oil drilling is not perfectly tidy. It's only 99.999 percent clean. Indeed, since 1980 -- as MMS figures indicate -- 101,997 barrels spilled from among the 11.855 billion barrels of American oil extracted offshore. This is a 0.001 percent pollution rate. While offshore drilling is not 100 percent spotless, this record should satisfy all but the terminally fastidious.
Ironically, in terms of oil contamination, Mother Nature is 95 times dirtier than Man. Some 620,500 barrels of oil ooze organically from North America's ocean floors each year. Compare this to the average 6,555 barrels that oil companies have spilled annually since 1998, according to MMS.

My understanding is that drilling REDUCES natural seepage since the drilling relieves pressure.
So it’s a win-win situation, but no doubt, the Dems will find some way to trash it.

Yes, the exact most eco palsy wowsy thing we can do is reduce the pressure of vast undersea deposits.
Deposits, I must add, that make Saudi pools look like spit puddles.

Jean Lafitte (sp?) the somewhat notorious pirate who set up housekeeping in New Orleans and Galveston in the early 19th centuries wrote of the tar on the beaches in Galveston. Obviously, this predates domestic drilling by a hundred years. It just goes to show you that there is so much oil out there in the gulf, that it seeps out of the ground whether you drill for it or not!

We also need to quit pretending the world will end every time there is a spill. Geez, there were a couple thousand ships that went down in WWII and somehow the planet and the oceans survived.

I bought gasoline last night it is a bargain down to $3.59 from $3.89 at it's highest.
Have I changed my gasoline usage habit this YES!
Here in Southwestern, Missouri we have had an usually wet year, so the grass has needed mowing at least twice a week since the first of April.
How has my gasoline habit changed? This year I have bought more gas for my lawn mower than I have for my Chevy Pick Up.
Thank you Nancy and Harry for stonewalling drilling today!
Thank you Bill Clinton for vetoing Republican legislation for drilling in ANWR in 1996 !
For you people in Blue States thats 12 years ago !

Enviro wackos never mention that oil and gas are as natural as wind and the tides.
It is nature that produces it, not man. we simply harvest the bounty
