Let It be Romney, Please!
Human Events ^ | July 30, 2008 | Bay Buchanan

John McCain has five weeks to choose his Vice Presidential running mate. Typically the most a presidential candidate can hope for is a partner who does him no harm. That criteria having been met, the choice is only important if the race is close; landslides aren’t caused or prevented by vice presidential candidates.

So the question for John McCain is who, if anyone can significantly influence Americans to vote Republican in November. The answer is Mitt Romney -- and for many more reasons than that he can deliver Michigan’s 17 electoral votes to the Republican column for the first time since 1988.

DNC strategist Carville agrees (along with the 527-MSM, and EVERYONE who wants the GOP to LOSE).

James Carville, pleading for the GOP to blunder and put loser-Romney on the ticket:
: "It's a feel-good story, this Romney thing. Romney is an ascendant guy."

Oh. I thought this was going to be one of those Leave Britney Alone stories.

I'll listen to Bay. Just not her brother.

For some reason that I can’t quite fathom, there are millions of Republican voters who just can’t stand Romney. Is it his flexible stance on abortion maybe?

No, it’s because he’s Mormon.

No. On Fox, Morris says McCain needs a VP who appeals to women over 40. Who appeals to women over 40 better than Fred?

I’m not a fan of Romney, but I also have no real issue with putting him on the ticket. That said, the more I read and the more I hear, the more I believe he’ll do more harm than good.

At this point, I’m voting ‘No’ to Romney as VP.

Tancredo

I could certainly get behind that. Or Duncan Hunter.

I won't hold my breath, though. (sigh...)

I’ll admit I find the Church a little creepy, but would vote for Mitt over Obie.
He seems too much a big-business guy to me; hair’s too good, suits fit him too well. There’s a visceral distrust of him which no logic can dispel, because I won’t accept the premise on which it would have to be based.

So's Bay. She's a convert. I'm sure that has nothing to do with any of this though.

Flexible stand on abortion? That would definitely be following in the footsteps of Ronald Reagan and GHWB. Seems to be a tradition.

Romney isnt my first choice but he would add a lot to McCain. He is a fighter and excellant campaigner.

For me, I’m just not convinced by his claims of a late life transformation on a lot of conservative issues such as abortion and gun rights. I’m not one of those who ‘can’t stand Romney’, but I would feel a little uneasy if he were on the ticket. This, in addition to already being uneasy with the prospect of president McCain.

I’d vote for them, but not too enthusiastically.

That and the bible thumpers also do not understand what it means to be a Mormon. They believe if you ain't Baptist you ain't Christian.
