Where are My Facebook and Myspace Friends? Missing Because of Abortion

One of my favorite times of the day is logging onto Facebook, to see what my friends are up to.

I find some friends have posted photos...others have joined groups ranging from UK Beekeepers to Evangelium Vitae...others have become fans of Mother Teresa or Ronald Reagan...and still others are giving status reports on what they did this past weekend.

I love looking at all the different Facebook pictures. One friend has a picture which shows off her artistic talent...another posted a photo which shows off her muscles as a bodybuilder...another posted a profile picture that shows she looks almost just like she did at our high school graduation.

My friends on Facebook are all different ages--some I went to school with, others I know from work. It's amazing to see what they've done with their lives--one channeled her love for entertainment into a career as a talent scout...another tapped into her love for reading to become a reference librarian. I received an e-mail from one Facebook friend who reminded me of how I had cast her as Annie Oakley in a sixth-grade spoof of Hollywood movies.

The Facebook phenomenon reached a milestone last year, when it was reported that it had welcomed its 30 millionth subscriber. Thirty-million people, finding friends, making friends, being friends. It’s been estimated that the Internet’s social networking community may reach one billion in 2009, meaning that, increasingly, people are finding it as important to plug in as to phone home.

Just today, though, it occurred to me that a friend is missing on my Facebook page. That's the friend who wasn't allowed to be born because of abortion.

I know it's worse for Generation Y--one-fourth of their generation has been wiped out by abortion. It's more than 36,000 faces in my state of Pennsylvania, 1.2 million faces nationwide each year...50 million in the U.S. since 1973, when Roe v. Wade was decided. In other words, if all those aborted babies had had a chance to live, Facebook would be more than double its size.

As a result of abortion, we have lost family members, friends, and connections. There are millions of relationships, both online and offline, that simply don’t exist because we’ve been systematically eliminating part of our population. The greatest nation in the world has been impoverished by that compassion deficit that abortion creates.

The next time you sign onto Facebook, MySpace, or another social networking site, why not say a little prayer for the families of those on the missing list? Their lives did matter, and they should be remembered, if only for those precious seconds when you're typing in your password.

Another typical response:

Liberal: “Women should be allowed to control their own bodies, because you can’t legislate morality.”

Normal Human: “So, if you can’t legislate morality, that means we should repeal all the laws that prohibit stealing, since such laws are an attempt to legislate ‘Thou shalt not steal.’”

Liberal: “I’m not in favor of stealing! I can’t discuss anything with you if all you’re going to do is make crazy statements!”

That is totally contrary to God's word, which places the creation of the soul and spirit at the point of union between the Father and Mother.

cite?

Oh, like this...?

Oh, I get it. Letting people oppose abortion as they best see fit would be a constraint on your ability to tell them that they should oppose it only your way. LOL.

Your argument needs mustard considering what a logical pretzel it is.

Are you some kind of Hindu?

I apologize for the previous post.

No. I am not a Hindu. I have my beliefs. I believe our souls exist and cannot die. Therefore if a child is aborted I don't believe his soul dies. I believe God keeps it in his heart till another time.

My personal belief is that those souls who were aborted will come back at another time when the world is ready for them and when God decides it is time.

In my experience, when someone presents vague opposition on an issue but won't reveal their true beliefs on it unless pressed, statements like this one are the inevitable result.

Thanks for your belated forthrightness, but you are wrong. Abortion is a grave moral evil that must be opposed. Killing an unborn child is a human deciding that they know better than God. It's the ultimate non serviam of our times.

Meaning what? That my beliefs don't coincide with yours? Ok.Thanks for your belated forthrightness, but you are wrong. Abortion is a grave moral evil that must be opposed. Killing an unborn child is a human deciding that they know better than God. It's the ultimate non serviam of our times.

I never said abortion was good. I still believe that God takes care of the souls and the body, as their vessel, is the only thing that dies.

You have done something very honest ... and I for one appreciate it, because now we may resume discussion as fellow human beings with soft hearts. You stated your belief regarding the little ones in the womb. Kudos, brother/sister, it takes courage to make such a vulnerable move. So, let's discuss that ... and use the opportunity created by the hyperbole laden article.

The Christian Bible teaches that it is appointed unto each human once to die and then the judgment. If we believe those little one sin the womb are fellow human beings, then we ought apply that designation in a way that acknowledges the horrific lost due to their intentioned demise ... I call that murder since it is intentioned termination by violent means of the human being alive in the womb. What God does witht he soul and spirit of such slaughtered little ones has not been revealed to me or anyone else, as far as I know. But the sad fact is, as a Christian I count the abortion demise as yet another fellow human being who will never occupy community in my world, your world, or the world of the author of the article. That's a tragic loss to community due to intentioned slaughter without just cause.

That said, I agree with you that there are just reasons to allow termination of pregnancies, but such just cause must--for the sake of rightness--not make an automatic death sentence upon an innocent alive other human being if there is any way to avoid the death of the innocent.

A pregnancy that threatens to kill the mother must remain the right of the mother to terminate--to save her own life--else our common law heritage of self-defense means little when pressed to adjudicate rightly for the ultimate benefit of the innocent in society.

I have often thought about doing that. I also know that to do so would open me up to personal attacks. Let's just say that while I am not for abortion I am not 100% against it.

I notice that you are concerned about illegal aliens in this country. I wonder if it has occurred to you that the problem with the aliens is DIRECTLY RELATED to abortion.

When FDR created the Ponzi scheme known as Social Security, it was a viable scheme because the average person would only live long enough to collect for a few years, if at all. However, advances in in medicine increased life expectancy; nevertheless, the scheme was still workable.

Then after World War II the Baby Boom started; however, even this wouldn't strain Social Security because the presumption was that this generation would eventually reproduce at normal and predictable levels.

Then in 1973, just as the bulk of the Baby Boomers were entering their prime reproductive years, abortion came along and about a decade earlier, birth control became fully legal and things like the Pill also reduced childbirth. These factors, but mainly abortion, created an unpredictable abnormality in population growth. We didn't just kill 50 MILLION+ innocent Americans, we killed 50 MILLION+ TAXPAYERS and WORKERS.

Why are there so many jobs available for illegal aliens (and just so we're clear, the notion that they work for substandard wages is no longer true and hasn't been for a long time)? Because Americans have not reproduced at normal rates in the past 35 years.

Why do some want to grant the illegals amnesty? Very simple, Baby Boomers are ready to start retiring by the tens of millions and the ONLY way to preserve Social Security is to add TAXPAYERS.

Would we still have illegal aliens in the country without abortion? Certainly. Would we have no many? NO, because the jobs wouldn't be there.

Just for clarification: ‘little one sin the womb’ should read ‘little ones in the womb’ ... I do not believe the little ones in the womb can sin.

At what point does that start?

It was a fumbling spur of the moment jesture, my FRiend. But raybbr deserves respect for being so open and forthright in stating beliefs so person to him/her. And after all, the intent of the author of this article likely was hoping to generate reasonable debate through the use of hyperbole-laden writing. I know I certainly desire such when I write a pro-life essay.

Well, give yourself credit for the following, too:
That said, I agree with you that there are just reasons to allow termination of pregnancies, but such just cause must--for the sake of rightness--not make an automatic death sentence upon an innocent alive other human being if there is any way to avoid the death of the innocent.

they do that at some high school graduations by placing empty chairs for those aborted who could have been there graduating too.

Thank you for noticing the nuance. I just wish someone at the RNC would get it and explain the realities to the American people so we could end this heinous wholesale slaughter of alive sensing unborn children and take away the abortion empowerment scheme democrats have been using for too long now and for too many millions of murdered fellow Americans.
