Jon Voight intended to turn heads with the very strong points in his Washington Times op-ed last week (titled: Voight: My Concerns For America ~ Obama sowing socialist seeds in young people). But he probably didnt expect so many of them to reside in Hollywood.
In a sign of the growing interest in politics this election year, bloggers who normally focus on the entertainment industry are expanding their presence in one of the Internets other spheres of influence.
Voights piece slammed Democratic candidate Barack Obama, praised GOP contender John McCain, and even repudiated his own Vietnam War protests as the naïve flailings of a deluded youth. It was a stunning bit of self-revelatory memoir from the now-conservative Coming Home star.
The political blogsosphere, of course, went ballistic. Then Jeffrey Wells, who runs the movie and pop culture site Hollywood-Elsewhere.com, took Voight to task for his right turn, and wrote that if he were a studio executive he might think twice before hiring Voight for any future film work. [Voight is] obviously entitled to say and write whatever he wants, wrote Wells. But it's only natural that industry-based Obama supporters will henceforth regard him askance.
Honestly? If I were a producer and I had to make a casting decision about hiring Voight or some older actor who hadn't pissed me off with an idiotic Washington Times op-ed piece, I might very well say to myself, Voight? Let him eat cake.'"

So is Stallone.
Thanks for the ping. Isn’t it interesting that Hollywood loves to repeat the lie that they were ‘blacklisted’ during the cold war for being communists....but now they ‘blacklist’ people who are conservatives or republicans with MARXIST ease!!

“It’s OK to be hated as long as you’re hated by the right people.” ~ Ari Fleisher, answering some snivelling White House reporter.
They may not call themselves conservatives (or they may), but they supported America, which is a stand-up thing to do and something some nominal conservatives and all leftists fail to do.

Hope he gets to be included in their lives soon.
Voit has become super bankable now.
His mere appearance will be excellent fodder for box office cash.
McCarthy was correct.
Ronald Regan was correct
John Wayne was correct
all of them knew the left seeks to get their evil mits on popular culture.
btt
Don’t you just love the elitist grades Hollywood has for people? Hollywood is like India with its caste system. And they are for human rights? How about we make our own list for them (not alpha, as thought up):
Very employable:
S = Stalinist
M = Moron
W1= Demands sex for roles (m/f)
W2= Gives sex for roles (m/f)
D = Doper
C1= Makes movies that give bad examples for American families/children.
C2= Acts in movies that give bad examples for American families/children.
P = Parakeet person - give him/her mirror. It will keep him/her busy all day, every day.
Not employable:
N = Normal, intelligent pro-American
Ronald Regan was correct
John Wayne was correct
all of them knew the left seeks to get their evil mits on popular culture.

As directed by Joseph Stalin.
P.S. You left out J.Edgar Hoover, a great man.
First saw Jon Voight on “Gunsmoke”.
Admitting that talent takes a backseat to promoting the agenda. Dumbass.
Surprise, surprise in that Hollyweird is involved in the tactics the accused McCarthy of. Of course, McCarthy was actually after people who were communists and had no love for this country or way of life so, naturally, that was BAD. But nowadays if you love this country and voice an opinion so much as differing from their Marxist, anti-American politics you are to be blacklisted! But, really, what talent is left in that ceaspool anymore? Legendary Hollywood that actually put up original movies with talented, respectable actors who actually SERVED THEIR COUNTRY has been long gone. Where were these great Clintoonites serving their boy in Kosovo? What about if Obama gets in? Will we look forward to their service? Voight is really not missing out on anything, but there is powerful evidence that can be brought to bring out their hypocricies and injustice with this form of attempting to silence dissent. Seems like there may very well be some civil rights violations. I commend Jon Voight and he has already proven himself and doesn’t need any of them.
I saw that interview as well, and I gained a lot of respect for him. Having grown up during the time of the Vietnam war, I can understand how a lot of uninformed, "brains full of mush" got caught up with the anti war movement. ( No news available except the three networks).
I'm glad Mr. Voight recognizes the errors of the past and doesn't want them repeated again. I think that is why he has been so outspoken about the dangers of messiah Obama!
“In many ways Congress is sort of like Hollywood East.
The performance, the lights, cameras and press are more important than reality for both.”
....yep, and they acknowledge each other as co-equals when say somebody like George Clooney testifies before Congress on Darfur....the pols and the stars fall all over each other for the cameras.
They say Washington is Hollywood for the ugly.
Yep!
