American likely voters say 55 - 27 percent that Arizona Sen. John McCain is better qualified than Illinois Sen. Barack Obama to deal with Russia and now trails the Democrat 47 - 42 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

This compares to a 50 - 41 percent Sen. Obama lead in a July 15 poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.

In this latest survey, Democrats say 48 - 31 percent that Obama is better qualified to deal with Russia, while Sen. McCain is seen as better by Republicans 86 - 5 percent and independent voters 55 - 24 percent.

In the presidential matchup, McCain leads 46 - 41 percent among men, up from 47 - 44 percent July 15, and 48 - 40 percent among white voters, compared to 49 - 42 percent last month. He also leads 65 - 25 percent among white Evangelical Christians, up from 61 - 29 percent.

They’re probably theorizing that Bush had Georgia attack South Ossetia to help McCain look more presidential in the aftermath.

Why would the leftists freak out about this poll? Despite being hopelessly outclassed in every way possible, the Obamessiah is still leading here by five points. And that lead will almost certainly go up after the coronation, er, convention.

It’s so absolutely obvious that Obambi does not have a firm grasp on most any of the issues.

Senator Obama is tanking.

2-1? Why? What's wrong with these people? Don't they know that Hussein is just sooooooo eloquent (with a teleprompter)?

Don't they know that the mere sound of his voice (without all the uh's, umm's, ah's) will melt the dark black hearts of the iciest dictators around the world?

What do we need a military for when we have the Mouth of B.O.?

Because Quinnipiac’s methodology has always been more friendly to dems than Repubs (I live in New York City, I see their polls all the time, and considering these results I’d say McCain is tied at worst or ahead by 3), on top of the fact that Obambi’s support has consistently dropped in the last two of their polls.

Even assuming I accept your premise, the leftists will not. There is really nothing in this poll that should freak them out.

Who cares what irrational leftists think, they’re blind to the truth because of their anger and hatred for everyone and everything opposed to them, but I’d be very surprised if sensible lefties (Chuck Todd to name one) aren’t sweating.

I’m sure deep inside the dummies et al are all worried about these polls and their messiah’s non-performance against “the old man” this past Saturday night. The point is that some of them will admit it and some will not, just like McGovern’s supporters 26 years ago. I personally hope they’re all sweating and wringing their hands endlessly.

Quinnipiac polls are decent in the Northeast and worthless most everywhere else, including nationally. You are correct that they lean the furthest Left of virtually every poll out there.

The only thing to really take away from their results is the trend, and the trend continues to be John McCain's friend.

"In the presidential matchup, McCain leads 46 - 41 percent among men"

Errrrr... that 41% is no doubt not really men but rather metrosexuals.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Republican lead in a Quinnipiac poll. They still have Kerry beating Bush by 20 states.
