“Giuliani to give keynote at GOP convention”

Yes because he’s really representative of the G.O.P.

(sarcasm)

Let's see, Guiliani gives the keynote speech, Lieberman also is going to give a speech and the Republican nominee is John McCain.

Yep, it is completely a RINO party! Let the RINO’s have their fun without me.

For the life of me, I just don’t understand why people make a big deal out of who speaks at the convention.

Very interesting. I would have thought this guy had vanished from the face of the earth . . . he’s been completely out of the public eye for months.

Shouldn’t there be a “Barf Alert!” appended to the title?

I mean, I’m just asking...

Actually, I think Guiliani is an excellent choice for the Keynote. He is well liked by moderates, independants and even some democrats.

Three groups McCain will need in November.

Who does Obama have that can counter Guiliani and Lieberman?

Hagel? As McCain continues to do well, look for Hagel to try to return to the GOP party.

Let me make a principled argument as to why I believe you are wrong.

A good Lieberman speech could change the calculus of this election. Lieberman doesn't speak like Zell Miller, with the cadences of a Baptist preacher. When Zell speaks, his intensity can be scary if he is saying something inflammatory. Lieberman has this hangdog, aw-shucks manner of speaking that is disarming but which permits him to say the most inflammatory things without generating fear.

So imagine a speech in which Joe Lieberman indicts his old party, but not its rank-and-file members. It is a sorrowful, "The Democratic Party has lost its way," kind of speech. Imagine ending the speech with a series of inflammatory applause lines delivered in his aw-shucks manner. "The Democratic Party believes in fill-in-the blank, but not fill-in-the-other-blank." For example, "The Democratic Party believes in the United Nations, but not the United States." A good speech by a man leaving his old party -- because it left him first -- could turn into a genuine media event.

In fact, why do we care who we elect to represent us to pass laws and tax us?

Mayor Guiliani hates the UnAmerican Democrat Party, hope he rips them like he did in his speech last year....he threatened the State Dept Dims....saying the era of anti-Americanism must end!

Has there ever been someone who ascended as high as Lieberman (VP nominee) to defect and cross over so quick (just 8 years?)

Guilianni. Lieberman. Ah-nold.

When Rudy is the most conservative, you know the RINOs are in control.

I can’t believe the guy responsible for Harry Reid being Majority Leader is speaking at “our” convention.

Just another thing to hold against McCain, I suppose. Rudy is one of the top speakers the GOP has and has huge star power. Seems like the most logical choice. If he were the VP pick, I could understand people being spun up. But keynote speaker is the perfect role for Rudy.
