She’s going to stop trying to destroy the Republican party from the inside and make an assault on it from the outside? Her only value and the only reason the press covers her remarks about Republicans is, like McCain, she’s a Republican. Joining the other party only diminishes her criticism IMO, but like Chaffee who left the party after losing his Senate seat, the press still refers to him as a Republican, so they will no doubt do the same for her.

She’s married to a Russian with ties to Russia’s space program. So yeah, she’s on Putie Poot’s side.

Makes sense that she's upset with Bush and McCain on that "crisis".

Matter of fact, a lotta folks think that the gop is not all that conservative; in fact, the so-called conservative movement came pretty late in its history....

She must be broke and is willing to sell her soul for a few shekels.
I did not know she was alive and at this point in time I wonder why she would try to become famous off the back of her ancestor.

And then, when he was elected, with GOP majorities in both houses, he announced that there would be no roll-back of the New Deal. Instead of pushing back at the first opportunity post-war, it became entrenched by 8 years of GOP acceptance. The GOP lost its majority shortly after. Kind of like 2006, when it became clear that the GOP had become just like the Dems, might as well vote for Dems.

Isn’t it true that Ike had never voted until, and maybe not even then, he ran for President? Both parties were courting him, since he’d never mentioned his affiliation. Who is Susan anyway?

I don't know about the 'never voted' part, but Ike was not involved in American politics...not a bad attribute for a military man. It is true that both parties approached him about running for President.

Ike is the first President I remember. For years, I evaluated him based on my childhood memories of him as an old and sick man. However, over time, I have come to appreciate the man. He was a shrewd judge of character, and solid administrator, and the tact to hold the Allies together. As President, he kept the US strong in the early stages of the Cold War, was responsible for the Interstate Highway system, and sent the National Guard to enforce the integration of schools. The more I have learned about Eisenhower, the more I have found to admire about the man. I can't say that about many of our Presidents.

He deeply regreted that when he saw what Warren did (unlike Jerry Ford, who was proud to the end he appointed the Warren clone John Paul Stevens).

Yes, and George W. Bush also regretted that he appointed David Souter.

That and a dime won’t buy a cup of coffee.

Susan Eisenhower apparently knew little to begin with, and has learned little in the past five months.
