It took seven years, but Charles Ulrich did something many people dream about, but few succeed at: He beat the IRS in a tax dispute. Not only that, but tax experts say potentially millions of other taxpayers could benefit from his victory.

"I think it's important that taxpayers' rights be protected," he said. "We should have had a Boston Tea Party over this."

Thanks Charles Ulrich for fighting the good fight!

So insurance policy holders had been paying premiums on their policies for years and when the insurance company distributed stock shares in a change of ownership the IRS claimed that all those premium payments were worthless.

And the IRS prosecutes citizens for lying and cheating? What hypocrites.

The IRS...the #1 Gestapo organization in the United States, with the full faith and support of our straight arrow politicians. Yep. Can’t buy those votes without any dough!

This is good news for me. I’ve been waiting for a lower income year to claim an “unclaimed” disbursement from Prudential with the state of Ohio. Time to send it in.

Has anyone gone through one of these demutualizatons? How do they calculate your ownership share? Is it based on how long you've had your policies or just the current value of them? The primary insurance company I use is still a mutual company, so I've never gone through this.

IRS is not going away. Many intelligent people would like to eliminate it, but it won’t happen. IRS is needed to collect money from those who work to earn it, and to distribute it to those who vote democrat.

I'm not happy that I couldn't clear U.S. customs @ JFK without handing over my credit card to pay the ~10% tax on a couple Moroccan rugs I purchased in '00.

Still don't know why the Feds were/are entitled to a dime of something not produced here in the states. I guess someone's palm(s) needed to be greased.

This isn’t as significant as the story says. A significant win would be someone winning a case by proving that trading labor for compensation should not be a taxable event. We have an inherent right to provide for ourselves, but the government thinks they have a right to a chunk of OUR right.
