Sorry Dirt, You got all wrong! I am condemning those that condemn her! Like the MSNBC, CNN, ABC and NBC.

I think she is a grand slam.

Amen. This woman has Reaganesque written all over. Sarah Palin will not be denied.

Thank you, John McCain.

Agreed with the citizen part ... I would think the founders who wrote the US Constitution did not intend for any or every person to take office to come fully prepared on every subject. Didn't Schwarzenegger just go from actor to Governor?

I think Americans instinctively understand that. They know a job promotion will be about learning new things, they believe that if a person can prove they have what it takes, they can very likely do the job.

Can anyone actually prepare for the top job in the country. The answer is an obvious no. The only metric that qualifies one is that of character. Something Obama, and Biden for that matter, are truly lacking in. Character is that unique property of leadership, moral excellence and presence. IMHO — We will have to wait a little longer to see if Gov Palin has what it takes to assume the American leadership role. Only time will tell.

To me all that matters is character, character and character. There is no question that McCain qualifies, no matter how much you may differ with him on his policy of AMNESTY. McCain has demonstrated he has the character to lead America and can be entrusted with that role.

In this election — There is one fact that stands out — Attacking Obama on his experience did not work, it will not work on Palin. Attacking her on gender will be a disaster for Democrats. Trust me, I have recently chatted with enough women to know this line of attack will fail, in all likelihood it will fail spectacularly.

What worked with Obama was to attack on his Communist associations, his communist ideals and things Obama actually said, as goofy as they were — Like airing up your tires. It demonstrated Obama lacked life's experiences, it demonstrated Obama had no worldly understanding, it clearly demonstrated Obama was a Marxist.

Unless Palin turns out to be equally bad when it comes to talking, notice I didn't say speaking, then she will be fine. Only she can prove this point.

We should spread out to all the usual suspect forums and defend her ... and sell her. We can defend her from scurrilous attacks, quite easily. She is who she is, and it is very easy to defend her. Let's roll!!!

Observation of Sarah Palin reveals a Maggie Thatcher spirit. She should become a great leader. I pray for her and her family, that the demons of the liberal world do not destroy them. We will all have to pray for them every day.

I agree with your post except this section. Obama's lack of experience has been and continues to be why he is polling much lower than a generic democrat and is important to defeat him. It is widely effective with independent voters and reasonable dems that don't feel comfortable with him in command of our foreign policy. This issue combined with his bizarre background and questionable friends is what has kept him under 50% in polling even after his bounce.

Well said.

For what it’s worth, I’m pleased with having Palin as our VP candidate. I’m so pleased in fact that I’d take it to an extreme: that I’d rather lose with Palin than win with Romney, neither of which will happen.

McCain/Palin will win this year.

I agree with you that McCain is the right choice, his decision on Palin confirms it. He plays chess, not checkers.

I couldn't believe Obama left himself open on the disgruntled female vote with picking Biden, not to mention Biden's penchant for gaffs. Here we get smart, physically tough Sarah Palin with integrity to spare, and she's pretty to boot. What's not to like?

But we'll have to keep the pressure on him because he is indeed a maverick.

That's the understatement of the thread. Thanks for the ping!

Agreed. Hunter was a maverick at the Federal level, especially on military budgeting and illegal aliens. And the RNC punished him for it.Much to their discredit. Now McCain has surprised the Old Guard.

Hunter will likely have a cabinet level appointment.

Excellent post. Sarah Palin is a real woman, raised by solid parents, given religion and a sense of right and wrong, married to a good, hard-working, hard-playing husband, with loving children. Will she make some mistakes? Sure, everyone does. But she has real values, common sense, a ton of determination, and is not eager to join the corrupt establishment like too many young politicians.

I agree that she and her kind are the sort of Americans the Founders hoped for, what we need to preserve our country and our freedoms.

Keep in mind that she’s only human. But people like her sure make the future of our country look better. This has been a pretty dismal year on the political scene, up to now.

Sarah Palin is an abomination to the left. They think you need a couple of Ivy League degrees and many years in government to govern. And quite frankly, a lot of pubbies feel the same way. But the mess that such a mindset has created over the last couple of decades has proven that wrong.

We need more people who have run a business and fewer who have only tried to tax or sue a business.

I like this post so much I sort of combined the article and responses into an email to send to my family:

Most people are reflecting on the historical significance of Sarah Palin being the first woman to be the Vice-Presidential nominee for the GOP. I don’t think the media and the left have completely grasped what has really happened here. Assuming McCain wins he will most likely only serve one term - meaning that Palin will be the Presidential candidate in 2012!

I've spent the past 24 hours scouring over every bit of info I could find about her and am utterly impressed. The more I learn about Sarah Palin, the more I think she is a model for what this country needs. The overeducated and over-experienced pinheads have run this country into the ground with their corrupt sense of entitlement. Palin marks a return to an age of citizen government.

Sarah Palin does not have parents that were a senator or governor or a big-city mayor. She did not attend an ivy league school or even a private school. She had broken fingers from working on a fishing boat. She is an everywoman who went into government armed only with her integrity, courage, and tenacity.

Modern pundits will tell you that you have to be part of the system. That we have to put up with petty (and not-so-petty) corruption. That you have to be part of the party elite to win higher office. Sarah has proven them all wrong. She is EXACTLY what the Founders envisioned - the citizen reprentative of the people. But she goes well beyond the Founders with that vision.

I’m rather impressed at how she went after the old heads in her own party when she was still a relative rookie. I’m not sure I would have done that, it is easy when you’re a rookie to look around you, see the old heavy-weights doing something you don’t approve of, but hesitate to speak up. You’re still trying to learn the ropes, you don’t want to make waves, maybe this is the way things are done. She resigned and whistleblew them all out of office.

People are fed up with the corruption, but have no idea how to fight it. Sarah shows people how. Stand up for your values. Resign when the system prevents fighting corruption. Never compromise your values and your beliefs. And take on the corrupt power structure head-on with integrity.

It takes someone who is firmly rooted in right and wrong, and firmly rooted in who they are to have that kind of clarity that soon and that young.

Can Sarah take on the bigger vultures in the DC power structure? ONLY IF WE HELP HER. Those who fear honest government and honest reporting are out in droves to try and tear her down for having the nerve to stand up to the parasites.

About the experience argument that we are being bombarded with by the left, where in the Constitution does it say that the President or Vice President has to have had no other job but politics before being qualified?.

Palin has already written a great story of fighting the sloth, entitlement and corruption that we all decry. Unlike us keyboard warriors, she actually did something about it. Our country could use a thousand like her in this sorry day and age.

I think real people outside of the political arena, both on the left and on the right are sick and tired of special interests and insider politics. Sarah Palin might be the candidate who changes all that. This could be the start of something big, even more than just the Presidency/Vice Presidency.

Our Founders understood that power corrupts, and put into place a system in which citizen government was king, not career politicians who would be king.

That a blue-collar gal with a degree from a state school can defy party politics and the well-connected and overturn the apple cart from which the elite and the media feed is a truly awe inspiring accomplishment!

Sarah Palin is an abomination to the left.

Y'know, I hadn't thought of it quite that way.

But it really is as if McCain had nominated Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court, isn't it?

Should give everybody a warning of just how vicious they'll be. Fortunately, their fangs are shorter now than in 1991.

Ironically, didn't Joe Biden have a starring role in that event, too? My goodness, ol' Joe has been involved in more than his share of debacles on Capitol Hill, hasn't he?

Kevin Nealon reprising the Joe Biden role

I REALLY think this is the best line of attack for McCain and Palin. Obama and Biden are lawyers. McCain is an academy grad. Palin went to state school.

Palin has run a business. She did not get into politics from some grand ambition to enrich herself from politics, but to improve the process.

The GOP needs to absolutely hammer the Dem corruption of the last two years. Obama's association with Rezko. Dodd's association with Countrywide. They make Abramoff look like a piker.

And then show to the people that an everywoman can make a difference. That principle can win when it is applied without compromise.

And contrast the key difference between Obama versus Palin. Obama rose to power because he became part of the machine. Palin rose because she sought and succeeded at destroying the machine. That will resonate.
