Sarah Palin's Historical Significance Goes Well Beyond Gender
8/30/08 | dirtboy

Most pundits are reflecting on the historical significance of Sarah Palin being the first woman to be the Vice-Presidential nominee for the GOP. Others are busy belittling her modest background.

I don't think people realize just how monumental a shift is going on here. Sarah Palin reflects the best of the past of our country. And of what could be the future.

Sarah Palin does not have parents who were a senator or governor or a big-city mayor. She did not attend an Ivy League school or even a private school. She had broken fingers from working on a fishing boat. She is everywoman.

She went into government armed only with her integrity and her faith and her courage and her tenacity.

Modern pundits will tell you that you have to be part of the system. That we have to put up with petty (and not-so-petty) corruption. That you have to be part of the party elite to win higher office.

Sarah has proven them all wrong. She is EXACTLY what the Founders envisioned - the citizen reprentative of the people. But she goes well beyond the Founders with that vision.

People are fed up with the corruption, but have no idea how to fight it. Sarah shows them how. Stand up for your values. Resign when the system prevents fighting corruption. Never compromise your values and your beliefs. And take on the corrupt power structure head-on with integrity.

Can Sarah take on the bigger vultures in the DC power structure? ONLY IF WE HELP HER. Those who fear honest government and honest reporting are out in droves to try and tear her down for having the nerve to stand up to the parasites. WE HAVE TO TAKE THEM ON. McCain is a transitional figure for the GOP. Palin and Jindal and others like them are the future of the GOP. It is up to us to decide if they will become the future of our country.

Could not agree with you more.
Sarah Palin is America.
Barack Obama is The One World
Palin is the REAL outsider.
Obama is the real insider playing at being an outsider.
Biden can not nor would he be allowed to help Obama.
Palin will help McCain whether he wants the help or not.
McCain/Palin in the White House could be the beginning of the return of the real America. The one that we have not seen since the end of Ronald Regan’s Presidency.

It goes beyond money. Get out to forums where libs are spewing nonsense such as saying Palin is part of the corrupt Alaska GOP or is in the pocket of Big Oil. Get informed to fight their lies. Make your own posts. People read those forums. Fight the DUmmies out in the open internet.

Excellent point! Where in the Constitution does it say that the President or Vice President has to have had no other job but politics before being qualified? There needs to be many other Sarah Palins running local, state and federal governments. Our country would certainly be in much better shape with more fishermen and farmers in office and fewer lawyer/politicians.

This could very well be the Revolution we need to take back our country.

Please, please, please, Gov. Palin, be the real deal that you appear to be!

I think real people outside of the political arena, both on the left and on the right are sick and tired of special interests and insider politics. Sarah Palin might be the candidate who changes all that. This could be the start of something big, even more than just the Presidency/Vice Presidency.

Which is why the Washington and New York insiders will pull out all the stops to destroy her.

THANK YOU, dirtboy! For putting it all back into perspective. Our Founders understood that power corrupts, and put into place a system in which citizen government was king, not career politicians who would be king ... a grand experiment in democracy of the people, by the people ...

It is so refreshing to see the dream which our Founders envisioned is still taking place in the good ol' US of A :)

I agree entirely. I think you could pick names from the phone book at random and do better than what we have now. But a better process is to find and support citizen legislators and governors such as Sarah Palin. They have the integrity to uphold a higher standard and to fight those who seek office only to enrich themselves.

Sure. Write letters to your local paper. 1. Erite a letter showing the positives that you see Mrs Palin bringing to our Nation. 2. When you see the letters sent from the left that attack her for inexperience,or the lies and slams that you know will be coming write replies countering the claims WITH FACTS. Doesn’t cost much but a few cents. many papers even take letters to the editor online nowadays.
Call you Congressionl persons. Regardless of party and state how glad you are and proud you are that mrs Palin has been selected to be the Vice Presidential Candidate. Calls to the Repub party lets them know the people like this pick and what it backed up. Calls to the Dem party let’s them know that the people like this pick and that they are in trouble. The more scared they get of her the more negative they will go and the more Hillary voters they will lose.
So there are many many ways that each of us as citizens can help that do not cost much money or even take a lot of time.
We all just have to step up and do it.

I don’t think the media and the Left (redundant - I know) have completely grasp what has really happened here. Assuming McCain wins he will most likely only serve one term meaning that Palin will be the candidate in 2012. The Left will have no choice but to run Hillary making the first Female President inevitable regardless of who wins. Now that’s “Change”.

I think some haven't. But those who have are terrified. That a blue-collar gal with a degree from a state school can defy party politics and the well-connected and overturn the apple cart from which the elite and the media mandarins feed.

It is hard to believe these people find new ways to be useless but, they do each time given the chance.

Absolutely right! She really may be our last best hope for
changing the culture of corruption in our nation's capital.

Tell me, pissant. How many people do you know come from a modest background, hold true to their values throughout their political career, resign from a plum government job in protest of corruption, and overturn a corrupt state party structure? Duncan Hunter has nothing on Sarah Palin.
