ST. PAUL, Minn. Most voters are unfamiliar with John McCains new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and many question her qualifications to be president, according to a USA TODAY/Gallup poll.
Meanwhile, another Gallup poll shows Barack Obama maintaining an 8 percentage point lead over John McCain following the end of the Democratic convention Thursday.

Must be drinking MSM Kook-aid.
Who to believe ...
amazing, she has more experience that the head of their ticket
i hope that the mccain group keeps up the good work they were doing prior to the nomination by firing back and some funny ads
I think Zogby has McCain up by 2 after announcing Palin as running mate.
It's over.
That’s funny. Most conventions produce about a 15% jump. To just be holding his own is relatively a major loss.
This is a garbage poll of unregistered voters.
Headline is a little deceiving...he had the same lead a couple days in a row. His post convention bounce got stuck at 8 points. Yes he expanded it from pre-convention, but then most conventions do that no matter who the candidate.
Yup. Zogby’s poll was taken exclusively after McCain announced Palin as his running mate. All the other polls that Fox News is reporting are three-day rolling polls which include data from Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So they don’t fully reflect Sarah Palin’s impact on the race.
If this is true — that Obambi has an 8-point lead — why are the Dims in panic mode over the Palin pick? Why are they pulling out all stops to silence the Annenberg probe? Why are the Dims on a collective suicide watch?
I can't stomach Fox anymore. I tried to watch the weekend show this morning & the idiots they have on there were mispronouncing almost every name they said. About 5 minutes is all I can take before I have to change channels.
There is no new information in this release. We’ve already analyzed it all day long. Tomorrow says far more.
Anything can happen between now & November, of course, but barring some unforeseen catastrophe for the McCain ticket Obama is gonna get blown out.
Until Palin joined the McCain ticket, I wasnt going to vote in this election. Now I will be voting and it wont be for Michelle and whats his name. ;-)
That the media is pushing/asking this question is more evidence how manipulative the media is.
Even though Palin has more executive experience than Obama, Hillary, and Biden combined, did the media ask this question about their qualifications? Hardly.
What ‘voters?’ - the Drive-bys are too busy to vote ;o)
