My Grandmother and Grandfather on my mothers side were only 17 and 17 when they got married, only death separated them in their 90s Similar story here but, my Grandmother was 15 and my Grandfather 17 when they married. They were married 60 years until my Grandfather's death.

Who is celebrating teen pregnancy?
We are talking about this story, and yes, some are happy they are keeping the baby and getting married. That deserves some praise.

My son and his wife were 17 when they married, right out of high school. They celebrated their 18th anniversary this summer.

Never thought Id witness this kind of thread on FR. Unmarried teens having unprotected sex with a pregnancy as a consequence is now something to be cheered and celebrated?
How, precisely, do you think people should react? I don't see anyone yelling 'Way to go, Levi!'.
It is too late to keep them from getting pregnant. It would benefit no one to condemn them. And a baby should always be celebrated.

You’re not going to get much support here with comments like that.
American culture has become a cesspool. We can only take it back little by little. Celebrate the fact that in this cesspool Bristol is marrying the father and keeping her child.
That’s a MAJOR step - outside of your personal household, that is...

It’s not something to be celebrated, exactly, but, it happens. Personally, I have a problem with hotshot “jocks” but time has shown me that a bunch of them do turn out to be good solid guys.

So she fell for the star athlete at her high school.
Yes, the result is not ideal, but it’s not exactly uncommon. As for how this is relevant to a presidential campaign, it’s not. Other than it will probably make the Governor a sympathetic figure.
Anyways, it’s apparent that the media is ticked that it didn’t see this pick coming and is not trying to make McCain pay for pulling a surprise on them.
And I will say this...if you suddenly became famous and had the media looking into their background they could probably find something nefarious sounding. Especially if the media found someone that had a bone to pick with you back in the day. Jealousy is not uncommon in any community, especially in small towns.

Never thought I'd witness this kind of thread on FR. Ditto.

He is too cute even if he does have trouble written all over him.

This media witch hunt is getting sicker by the minute. Now the NY Daily News and the Chicago Tribune are invading the privacy of not only Bristol Palin, but her boyfriend, his parents, his coach, his friends and their parents. These outrages need to be stuffed straight down Barack Obama’s throat.

This article is incorrect!
On Daily Kos, they said it was a 30 something year old guy.

I agree, what I am surprised by is the few, and I stress few, here in Freepeville that are 1. Attacking the girl and McCain's choice based on these revelations and 2. Those that are attacking here in Freeperville because we are too pissed off, we can't win.
Stuff happens.

Never thought I would witness so many KosKids on FR, their sniveling about things that are none of their business is typical tho.

96 hours ago we were wondering what could top the MSM adoring Obama in Denver. Well, now we know - an 18-year boy and a 17-year old girl from a small town in Alaska whose pictures will no doubt be on the front page of the NY Daily News in the morning. Jeez...

No...maybe it wasn’t Kos but I definitely read it on some lefty blog. They’re all the same.
