ATI-News/Zogby Poll Shows Democrats, Republicans and Independents Oppose
Obama Positions
WASHINGTON, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- A strong majority of likely voters disagree with Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on firearms and self-defense related issues, according to a just-released ATI-News/Zogby poll. Brad O'Leary, president of ATI-News.com and author of the explosive new book, The Audacity of Deceit: Barack Obama's War on American Values, notes that opposition to Obama's stance on these issues is widespread across multiple demographics. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20030425/ATNLOGO) Ban on Hunting Ammunition In 2005, Senator Barack Obama voted in favor of legislation sponsored by Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) that would have banned nearly all rifle ammunition used for hunting and sport shooting. This position puts Obama squarely at odds with over 75 percent of likely voters. ATI-News/Zogby asked likely voters: "Do you support or oppose legislation to ban almost all rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting?" Seventy-seven percent of likely voters said they oppose legislation to ban such commonly used ammunition, while only nine percent said they would support such a ban. A strong majority of Democrats (58 percent), Republicans (92 percent) and Independents (84 percent) all oppose the ammunition ban that Obama supported -- as do 79 percent of military families. (This nationwide poll of 3,825 likely voters was conducted August 27-29 and has a margin of error +/- 1.6 percentage points.) "This is just another example of how Obama's extreme position on basic Second Amendment freedoms runs counter to the beliefs of most Americans," said O'Leary. Self-Defense As an Illinois State Senator in 2004, Barack Obama voted against legislation that protects citizens, who use firearms in self-defense in their home or business in spite of local gun bans, from prosecution. Here again, the Obama position is counter to that of most Americans. ATI-News/Zogby asked likely voters: "Do you agree or disagree that you have the right to use deadly force as a means of self-defense in your home, without having to retreat?" Eighty-eight percent of likely voters agree that they should have this basic right to self-defense, while only eight percent disagreed. An overwhelming majority of Democrats (83 percent), Republicans (90 percent) and Independents (91 percent) all agree. (This nationwide poll of 974 likely voters was conducted August 15-18 and has a margin of error +/- 3.2 percentage points.) Most state legislatures have already taken steps to strengthen this right. Thirty-three states now have "Castle Doctrine" laws that remove a person's "duty to retreat" from any place he or she has a legal right to be. Of these states, twenty-two also prohibit criminals and their families from suing people who injure criminals in self-defense. Many of these laws have been enacted only in recent years, and more state legislatures are expected to follow suit in 2009 and beyond. "Why would Obama vote to make it more difficult for citizens to protect their homes, businesses and families from life-threatening criminal attacks?" asked O'Leary. "Americans need to question whether or not they agree with the 'change' Obama could bring to their basic rights and freedoms." “”Why would Obama vote to make it more difficult for citizens to protect their homes, businesses and families from life-threatening criminal attacks?””
Why because he’s a Marxist and anything that implies the individual has any power must be destroyed.

OK McCain camp now is the time to start running ads in PA, Ohio, WV, and any other hunting states aboyt BO’s record on gun control. Time to tell the public the truth. I know lots of Dems who really don’t want to vote for him that with this single issue will keep them on the McCain side!

Good. We need to make sure people in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan (all of which have a lot of Democrats who take a day’s vacation on opening day of deer season) know about this.

Wasn’t that a hoot when Mr. Thompson said that last night? I howled out loud!

If you went issue by issue, you would find that a strong majority of people disagree with Obama on most things. It is too bad that in this country that the totally uninformed are allowed to vote. The only thing worse would be where people are required to vote or face a fine.

There was plenty of laughter in our household also...it made me think that if this guy was this good during the primaries, I might have supported him! I think Rudy should be good tonight, and Sarah will have MSDNC beside themselves.
I have to tivo McCain tomorrow since I will be at the Giants' opener...bad timing on RNC's part.

Thirty-three states now have "Castle Doctrine" laws Sure wish California had this. This state is coming apart at the seams and it will take guns to sew it back up.
A pizza delivery guy is in the hospital (five days) after thugs ordered a pizza and then jumped him, beat him, and stole his car and the food.
A twenty two yo. left a party and was shot in the head. He was a council member in Fairfield- who wanted to do something about 'gangs'.
The pizza robberies are becoming common. But then, so are kids getting shot as bystanders and others who have nothing to do with gang rivalries.
I hate to seem a 'one issue' kind of guy, but this one, left unattended will have lasting effects upon us all- all of which are negative.
I got to thinking beyond what it might be like were all of us packed heat. My brain skipped over this 'fantasy' and went to a simple solution to the gang problem that will never come to pass. Like wolves and coyotes, when they are a problem the solution is to 'thin' them out.
Well h*ll then, we should be issuing permits to thin out gang members. Judge, jury, and executioner all in one? Yep. Every other stupid approach will fail and we-the-people will suffer the consequences heaped on us by legislatures 'coping' with this problem by limiting our right to 'keep and bear' beyond those that already exist (illegally, I might add).
But what do I know? Here's something I do know, if that were my son in the hospital, or the council member whose family will now decide how to donate his organs, I'd be on a mission.
$250 bounty on every gang member tagged. No fair shooting them as they are being released from prison- they need a chance to 'evaluate the situation'. I bet a lot would get the 'message' very quickly.
What's lost on all the do-gooders and grabbers is: we used to be a gang, though unafiliated. We used to project an aura of caution without tattos or bandanas. Some of us would even leave the keys in the ignition and go to bed with the front door unlocked. That's how bad a 'gang' we used to be. We will once again someday. Count on it.
